1381  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Gauging interest in a S5+ / 3xS7 specific power supply breakout board on: December 10, 2015, 12:09:58 AM
Is there anyone powering 3 S7 with this? Which fan do you use / recommend for cooling the PSUs?

I am. My own contraption, but the same end result as j4bber's breakout board. His solution is just much more elegant. I'm using 2 Delta fans, approximately 150CFM each. Could get by with lesser fans, but I had these on hand so why not.

Sometimes, PDU's come into play.  For instance, my 30 amp PDU's have two 15 amp legs.  15 amps x 220 volts = 3,300 watts.  6,600 watts maximum with both 15 amp legs combined.

I'm presently using IBM 2880 PSU's to power 2 x S7's on each PSU.  1220 watts x 2 = 2440 watts.  I might use 2 x IBM 2880's and 1 x Corsair AX 860 on one 30 amp PDU to power 5 x S7's instead of using only 1 x IBM 2880 alone on each 15 amp leg of the 30 amp PDU.  However, more than likely, I will end up powering only 4 x S7's with 2 x IBM 2880's for each 30 amp PDU to remain well within the 75% allowed for each circuit.

I may probably go with this new setup J4bberwock has come up with once all of my IBM's are in use [22 x total IBM 2880's].  I would have the option to power 5 x S7's comfortably on one 30 amp PDU with 2 of these new setups of J4bberwock's [One for each 15 amp leg on the 30 amp switched PDU's].

When someone gets a batch 8, it would be much appreciated to hear one's opinion of the rig.

Thanks in advance.

enter here your kano.is username and kano.is password and the 2FA 6 digit code.

Thanks!

Now, I just hope I can remember that damn password.  I've had it set up on "save password" for the longest.  Which means I never bothered to remember it.  Maybe I can figure it out.

if all else fails with password there is password reset. No reset for 2FA though so make sure you made a note of your 2FA secret key and store that safely somewhere (not on your phone).

Got it... Thanks.

After about 10 to 12 attempts, I finally remembered my pool password.  It's long as hell.

Yes, I'll remember my secret key with no problem.

use your kano.is password, the password for OTP auth is just for your phone.
Also should blur your username !!!!!!

Understood with blurring my username.  Guess we'll see how good the 2FA works then.

If you both would delete the image, it would be appreciated and save forum space as well.

Uh oh,

I think I just mucked up!

It said I was set up.  I may just be ignorant of how to log in to it.

I thought I set up 2FA with OTP Auth.  I got an email from kano.is saying it was set up.  However, When I try to log in at kano.is, it only refreshes the page and does not let me log in.  Can someone assist me?  I might end up having to create a new account and start over on 500N.

EDIT:  Just a moment.
1387  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: December 09, 2015, 06:24:13 PM
I see, sounds like the same setup as it would be here. To be clear, you already have a 200A service, and are adding 400A more for a total of 600A 240V at your house? Awesome if so!

That is correct [400 added to existing 200 = 600 amps].  May end up having to get current transformer to measure power usage.  Which will be extra costs.  I will find that out when an engineer from the power company calls me to set up an appointment and arrives at the house to see what I'm wanting.

EDIT:  Just got off the phone with an engineer.  They talk like someone will be out here between now and Monday (December 14) to have a look to see what will need to be done to get the power I need to the house.

EDIT #2:  I will probably have to disconnect and hide my rigs for a while when the work begins to keep the electrical inspectors eyes off of my S7's because they are not UL listed, unfortunately.  Then bring them out of hiding to hook them back up once the inspections are over with.

The last part is totally unclear. Why registering should make any difference whatsoever? I don't like registering on a principle basis as it is just adding a way to hack it.

I can see your concern there.  However, if one wants to see the stats, etc... on the pool on their browser, they need an account [If I'm not mistaken].  If that's not important to you, then don't worry with registering.  If you change your mind later on and decide to register, I believe you will have to start over again with your 500N time on the new account created.  I may be wrong about this but I believe it's correct.
1389  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: December 09, 2015, 06:03:22 PM

Are they replacing your main service, or adding a second 400A service? I'm only allowed 1 service per building here.

I'm only allowed one meter at my house.  I'm getting electricians to add two more 200 amp Main Service Panels, a quick disconnect for both of the new 200 amp main service panels that can be shut off manually and by the smoke/fire alarm system.  The entire upgrade will cost me close to $5,000 with a new meter, distribution panel, two main service panels, quick disconnects, wire, labor, etc...
1390  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: December 09, 2015, 05:55:15 PM
Thanks for the answer earlier!!!   And Congrats on the NEW Power.

Sure, however, I don't have it yet.  I've called the power company several times over the past 5 weeks.  They finally have a work order generated and sent it to the engineering department.  Now I'm waiting for someone from engineering to call me to set up an appointment to come out and see what I want to accomplish.

Sorry I missed helping out on Kano/CKPool forum.  It looks like someone else was able to assist you though.

EDIT:  It's very important to "register" (create account) with kano.is when you first start instead of using only a bitcoin address.  This way you get to take advantage of all services offered by the pool and you will not have to start over with your 500 N time when switching from mining to bitcoin address to a registered account.

400amp - wow - I envy you - can I co-locate my miner to you? :-)

Sorry, I can't do that.  I have plans to use every bit of it soon.
1392  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: December 09, 2015, 05:26:17 PM
yes, i have already found and posted in the kano thread.
i like the transparency of the admins and have been hashing there for the last 3 days.
I had to bring my miners down for few hours today for my electrician to install another 90amps.
will be online in kanoi.is in a couple of hours - new blocks pls wait for me :-)

Sounds great!  Hope it goes smoothly for you with the upgrade.

I'm actually waiting for the power company to call me this week to add another 400 amps to my house.  I've found out now they will foot the bill for installing a larger underground feeder cable and larger transformer [Providing I use the power I'm asking for].  If I don't use the power I'm asking for [But I will] they will back charge me for the materials and labor costs invested in the upgrade.  I hope to have the upgrade completed before Christmas time.  Keep your fingers crossed.

dmwardjr I value your opinion.  I am currently with slush's and love the dashboard and the consistent payouts.

Do you believe over time that the payouts are better?
What does the CKPool look like?

Yes, I believe [Over time] payouts are better as long as luck [Over time] remains average.  Luck can be slightly below average and have similar payouts to other pools.  The advantage of a smaller pool [That's not too small] is when the pool hits a hot streak.  Extra blocks found are a BIG bonus.  Of course the extra blocks found may have been required to maintain average (100%) luck for lack of finding blocks in the future.  However, if blocks continue to be found in the future according to average, the extra blocks found were truly a BIG bonus.

CKolivas and Kano are two of the best developers in the business.  They are the developers of cgminer used in your S7's.  They KNOW what they are doing when it comes to mining for sure!  I honestly do not believe there is a better crew in the business than CKolivas and Kano.  They are always there to respond to questions in the pool forum; unlike other pools I've mined at.  It's rare to have developers frequent the pool forum to answer questions by those who've joined the pool.  The pool forum is a great knowledge base for those new to mining.  I'm still new.  The more I learn, the more I find I need to learn and how "new" I still am.

I just don't believe one could go wrong by choosing to support CK/Kano Pool.  It's a win/win/win in my honest opinion.  [It's a win for miners / a win for CK/Kano Pool / a win for bitcoin!]

I pointed my miners from Slush to kano.is and it rocks !

Great!!!

The more the merrier!

Well said, gents!

S7's [And most any other rigs for that matter] will have more stable hash rates at Kano.is than any other pool.  I let the pool determine the diff for my rigs rather than manually setting the diff.  You have that choice as a miner; which is great.

We found two more blocks [When the present hash rate requires only 1 block per day to maintain average or very close to 100% daily].  Which see:

I'll take down the screenshot in a few:
1396  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: December 09, 2015, 05:45:10 AM
So, first 5 days or so payouts will be significantly less than other PPLNS pool. I received a payout of .00333 today from Kano. How about after 5 days, will payouts be about the same as other PPLNS pool such as Antpool or better? If it is the same, I don't see any benefit in mining at Kano, other than supporting lesser hash rate pools. Since I have to pay hosting fees no matter what, I am just trying to maximize gain for 3-4 months.

You can expect a little bit more per day than other pools as long as kano.is continues to find an average of 1 block each day at present hash rate.  According to wisdom, the present hash rate of kano.is (4,717 TH/s) should mine 28.08 BTC per day.  That's a little over 1 block each day.  If kano.is can maintain that one block per day average, you should see nicer payouts than what you would normally receive on other PPLNS pools.  If kano.is maintains 1 block average per day and adds another block on top of that one block or even two blocks over that one block average during one particular day, you will absolutely LOVE the payout for that one day.

As the hash rate increases on kano.is, the number of hours it takes to reach 500N should get less and the number of blocks should increase of course.  The advantage during times of good luck on a small pool like kano.is is at present is the day 2 or more blocks are found after maintaining the average blocks found for overall pool hash rate.

The dates you see a significant number of days between blocks are days in which the pool had well under 2,500 GH/s most of the time.  At that hash rate, it would be normal for the pool to find one block every 1.5 days.  The payout would still be a little better than other pools each day on average as long as the pool found at least one block every 1.5 days at that 2,500 GH/s hash rate.  The days in which kano.is finds more than the average estimated blocks [While maintaining average blocks found] are the days you find it worth staying there.

EDIT:  Yes, you will continue to receive payouts after you left kano.is IF you decided to leave. If kano.is was to maintain 4,700 GH/s at present while you were gone, you would continue to receive diminishing payouts over the next 5 days as blocks are found.

Hey Dwardjr i have a few of J4bberworks break out boards best thng going right now i like how we can plug into PCEI plug to plug . Smiley . just bought one of his 2000 blade center boards, not this one, they are very nice. .

Agreed.

J4bberwocks HW is the shiznit!
1398  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: December 08, 2015, 05:52:47 PM
Im not saying slush is doing this..but I know its possible to move a stratum port to another pool  >> say a pps pool for a few hours.. Then swap it back.. All within the time so your machine will never notice.. This is a major issue i have with putting trust into another pool.. This should never have had to be an issue if we all stayed more decentralized!! ie solo mining.

this could explain the odd swings in hashrate we been experiencing idk..

d57heinz

eleuthria [The creator of BTC Guild] will tell you about the times Slush pool had moved their stratum port to BTC Guild when they were online.  I wouldn't be surprised.

What stands out to me on this last stretch of bad luck..    It took us with over 40 ph over 7 hours to solve a nmc block.. and 12 hours in that same time frame to solve a btc block.. WhaT the pool was doing for those 7 hours is a bit questionable for sure..   Bad luck on both coins seems a bit of a stretch to me.. On nmc thats just outright terrible luck considering its diff is less than half of btc!!

1400  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Gauging interest in a S5+ / 3xS7 specific power supply breakout board on: December 08, 2015, 09:26:52 AM
J4bberwock,

Its been a while since I've read this forum.  What I'm about to ask may have already been asked:

Do you have anything in the works for something similar but with IBM 2880W PSU's?  It might be worth coming up with something to control the voltage on the 2880 and have a digital meter for it's output voltage.

I have a little over 20 x IBM 2880's at my disposal with your breakout boards.  I may invest in your setup for this present design in the future [Once all of my 2880's are in use].

Hi, I've probed the 2880w PSU for voltage control pins, and it's not easy to move it from 12v. I still need to try one easy trick just in case it'd work.

The only practical way someone found until now is to use an arduino to reprogram on the fly the internal ROM of the PSU to allow different voltage outputs.

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=30428005&postcount=2972

The same thing can probably be done to output lower voltages, but it's a bit overkill just to allow us to go from 11v to 13v

Okay,

Thanks for the reply, Sir.

EDIT:  After reading the link, I must agree...  It's overkill.
