I have no idea...but it would explain why someone would feel comfortable with that amount on there.

153  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Introducing BitCoinz SuperStore - bitcoinz.ca/shop on: July 11, 2011, 01:34:32 PM
There are numerous people doing drop-ship from DealExtreme with a markup in BTC. The deal a day guy, this store, another electronics store I saw.

It's not a scam - just educated consumers should know they can get the product for less using fiat money at the original source, that's all.
154  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: software announcement: "Moneychanger" on: July 10, 2011, 04:53:50 AM
Funny how OT is referencing bitcoin all over the place, yet there is this nugget in the FAQ:

"YOU have to trust the issuer of that cash, and the contract he used to issue it, and decide whether you trust that it is backed with real value. There is no escaping this basic fact (of electronic trading of any good) — someone has to store the actual gold, or whatever it is, that supplies the actual backing value to the currency."

I like the OT concept, but it hasn't really found a niche yet - and latching on to bitcoin doesn't seem to be it.

157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Introducing Bitcoin for Android on: July 09, 2011, 12:00:23 AM
found it /mnt/sdcard/Android/data/com.bitcoinandroid/files/ on my G2x

Anyone with a working version of this app, what is the current/correct size of the blockchain file? thanks. I seem to be stuck at 12.32MB - I do think it hangs when switching wifi/cell/wifi maybe, but I can't seem to get the download re-started, even with force quit and refresh. Stuck 12.32.
158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Introducing Bitcoin for Android on: July 08, 2011, 08:40:52 PM
First thanks, I think this client is a big step in the right direction, but it seems it still has some flaws:

I send me a money request by mail and send sent 0.01BTC to the android client in order to try it. I did this 8 hours ago, the transaction has 76 confirmations but it still has not appeared in the android client. I have tried to turn off WLAN and only use 3G in order to make sure it is not a firewall problem, but nothing so far.

What can I do? Is there any way to get hold of the wallet of this thing? Or make it somehow rescan the blockchain?

BTW: accidentally posted the same question already on another thread, but I think this one is the right one to ask.

I have the same problem - and when I checked application Details it is only 2.01MB - so something is very wrong. It looks like the blockchain isn't saving so it doesn't see the transfer, even though it is using the data connection.

Any ideas?
159  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Android Released on: July 08, 2011, 02:35:49 PM
I've waited 6 confirms and balance is still showing 0.00 on the phone client...anyone else having issues? Only sent a coin to test.

Never got it...Seems like it only downloaded 2MB, said successful - and installed. Not the 22MB listed on Market.

It apparently tries to get more data after install when running but total size on both phone and SD card never passes 2.01MB. I have let it run for a long time.

Anyone see the same issue/have any ideas? Thanks!

It's amazing how much free advice and insight into the industry Jessy has given here.

I work in a similar industry where payment processing/funding/trust is a major issue.

I think bitcoin can be a gamechanger for this adult industry segment both from the merchant (can't be charged back, frictionless, no middleman (except exchange rate risk) and consumer side (tons of guys will not give a credit card to even the most 'legit' of these sites, even for the $1 verification ploys) - but guys will toss a few bitcoins from the 'safety' of an anonymous btc address.

As Jessy mentioned, you are solving the wrong problem (building a cam site - snore) when you are just really looking to leverage the efficiency and attributes of bitcoin for this service. You should be building the framework to allow btc payments to co-exist with the major sites 'credits' systems. You could create a BTC / Cam Site currency store, with the major sites 'currencies' available for bitcoin, or even approach the sites directly - you could certainly offer lower fees than their current processors.

Posting the PMs just makes the Op look bad. Take a step back and listen to what she is telling you.
