285  Economy / Marketplace / Re: BitLotto - the Bitcoin lottery - UPDATE 1 on: March 30, 2011, 09:17:20 PM
why wait for the lottery guy to 'decide' a winner? If people want to gamble, at least gamble on things where the results are completely transparent...like sports ! Smiley

287  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is very bad... on: March 28, 2011, 08:32:06 PM
Is an SSL certificate really worth signing? The fact that such a thing needs to be paid for is even more laughable.

this is a 5 MILLION $ economy, if we are stupid enough to not pay 120$ to potential do A LOT of good to bitcoins, well....
A lot of good? What? To soothe the ones who don't want to go through the trouble of adding a self-signed certificate? Heh.

yes. make it regular-joe friendly.

Coinpal = Apple

It "just works", but is very expensive. He needs to change to the brushed-aluminum theme. Smiley
293  Economy / Marketplace / Re: BitcoinUSA.com - New US Based exchanger. Regisration open! on: March 08, 2011, 08:09:00 PM
More importantly, if you registered with FinCen as a currency exchange / money transfer service - you'll need to do something about taxes. All US banks/brokers/forex require form W9. Also, do you plan to report as far as capital gains, cost basis, etc?

297  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Potential vulnerabilities: dependency on IRC and transaction priority on: March 03, 2011, 03:24:06 PM

All quite true...  though I have been thinking that it would be nice to include a set of DNS bootstrapping nodes built into the bitcoin client.

Long-time community members with long-uptime nodes could include their DNS hostnames in this list.  Inventive programmers could mine bitcoin's addr.dat for addresses, and return those as DNS A records.

Agree...A natural choice would be the list of e-wallet providers / exchanges which should be up 24/7 by definition.
