Very pleased to see the price break 0.003 tonight. The market looks very strong and bullish.

I just noticed something interesting on the price chart. The price started going up on January 1st 2016 and never returned to those levels.

What happened on January 1st you ask? Monero version 0.9.0 Hydrogen Helix was released.

It was a long awaited release, especially the switch from storing blockchain in memory to storing it in DB which meant running monero became viable for a lot more users.

Was this the cause of the following price rise? There's this theory that market will price in everything in advance. Perhaps in a completely rational market this is the case, but markets are ruled by emotions. What's important to realize is that there had been no significant release for a very long time (more than a year). The price had just been consolidating in the gutter for a month after fully deflating from the previous bubble. After 8 months of only down, down and further down, people were losing hope, even I felt this. For a moment I started doubting my investment. When even true believers are considering selling we often have a turning point.

I think Hydrogen Helix spurred real optimism in the market and is the major reason the price went up only to never return.

The development was always visible on Github, but it wasn't until the actual release the market moved.

On that note, keep an eye on this.

Maybe you should forecast a bear market since AmericanPegasus is the reverse indicator of Monero as MatTheCat is to Bitcoin.

a whale is pimping this coin, there is no doubt about that...   i cant tell when the whale will leave this coin dry tho

When I'm bearish, I sell some coins, if I am very bearish I sell all coins. If I am extremely bearish I short.

Manipulation, if you can identify it, is a prime opportunity to profit. When the market is manipulated, the price and the way it moves is artificial and not in harmony with true market demand. If everyone can see the manipulation it ceases to exist as the market realizes the imbalance and corrects it.

When you are one of few who has properly identified the manipulation you can profit immensely by trading either the patterns of the manipulator or against it.

Since you think monero "will be left dry" as soon as "the manipulator" is done. Even if you don't know the exact timing, the crypto space is moving rapidly and your prediction should come true fairly soon. Even at current emission it seems unlikely that a whale will be able to prop the market up for more than 6 months even at current price, not to mention higher price levels. You can make good profit from this by either shorting the market or purchasing put options.

My guess is that you don't, because you don't really believe your own claim. Money Talks, Bullshit Walks.

....We'll break 0.0043 this year.

I suspect when I made that video my BAC was about to break 0.43.  I'm surprised I was able to even speak straight into the camera.

A video worth watching again of American Pegasus talking about the price of Monero: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEzNXzZy8e4

I suspect the time is near. The market is getting mature, volume & liquidity is up consistently, the community seems to have grown a lot. GUI, I think, will be the major turning point that will finally bring Monero to the masses. Then the RingCT is closing in. ETH is struggling, and I think some money will spill over from that camp. Zcash keeps getting delayed and could even be a bad idea after all. There's no doubt in my mind: Monero still holds the throne. Nothing better has been released in these two years we've been active.

I don't usually make predictions, but I predicted this crash down to sub 0.002 correctly. It was brutal, but didn't last very long, in fact we hit 0.003 couple of weeks ago.

It may still take some time to recover, and I consider sub 0.002 a very good price to buy more. Personally I've been buying anywhere in the range of 0.0018-0.0026.

So let's make a new prediction: We'll break 0.0043 this year.

If this happens, it could be the event AP talks about, where price levels are left behind, never to be seen again.

This may have a small effect on markets in the future...

http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1520564.0

We dont want your pump and dump, we want true growth.
Actually "pumps" is not bad for you as long as you can identify them and sell into the buy walls. That will distribute funds from pumpers into your hands. It's an excellent opportunity to increase your stash.

I think a major price increase also in and of itself can create true growth (demand) because it will make people notice the currency. Many will regret not paying attention to it earlier and once the price declines they will buy in. Just look at bitcoin, it's major bubble's always came with a ton of attention, and this has been the case for most altcoins as well. A major price increase will bring monero into the spotlight. And considering how awesome it is, that's where it belongs.

Monero cannot be pumped and dumped like a scamcoin can, because a scamcoin has founders who holds a large majority of the coins. They can withhold them from the market to artificially prop the price up. Monero on the other hand is much better distributed since everyone had to actually buy the coins, and they were never really cheap. What will happen is simply that people will take profit and prevent the price from going too high. It will be a currency that is difficult to pump n dump in the traditional sense, and even so it wouldn't be the death of the coin because it has fundamental value other than scamcoins that consists of only hype and fancy marketing.

So what I'm saying is that a pump can also fuel true growth. These two are not mutually exclusive.

I think it's important to welcome ALL market activity. Increased liquidity and volume is good for the currency. It increases its utility. If you don't like a certain market activity, or if you feel like someone is profiting unjustly. You can trade against it and make profit. The more activity the better, all the different actors will eventually cancel each other out and turn the currency more stable.

The Colossus of Dao is empowered during the annual congress of Ether. The Ether knights lend him their magical forces. Holding so much energy, the Colossus is able to withstand all threats.

the creators of DAO and the guy up here seems like have forgotten all principles of decentralization just because they are heavily invested
same as eth developers, as we can read in the chat, money > ethics as usual

If your money is involved, you will also ask for a fork to save 30% of the loss. Fortunately, we have the miners to decide.
Wrong. I lost more than 1000 BTC on mtgox. Never did I ask for a fork.

What I say in public not what I recommend my traders Wink

EDIT: I was actually advising them to accumulate!

You just admitted to deception. You lie to profit. Nothing you say on this forum from here on will hold any credibility.

He clearly says that:

"For those interested (and I have many people in my team that like XMR) I still cover this coin because TA is TA.
If I see an opportunity in XMR I will advise everyone to buy."

So it's not deception. It's omission. Which makes sense if you're offering a private service.
That would be deception by omission, also called passive deception.

God damn, I gotta say, that crazy Greek kLee is worth his weight in gold. Didn't want to listen initally to the signals he gave for XMR, but some damn inpressive TA today. Enabling me to lock in an amazing profit on my margin trade. Very happy that I took his advice, convinced by his various charts & analysis.

Looking for a good further re-entry now....
Eh, I don't know about that... He predicted monero to crash and was laughing at us bagholders only 10 days ago.

Zcash will teach you a lesson I suppose.

For those interested (and I have many people in my team that like XMR) I still cover this coin because TA is TA.
If I see an opportunity in XMR I will advise everyone to buy.

Currently the guideline is to not touch this unless it gets ridiculously oversold (50-75k) because from TA PoV (performance, relative strength to ETH, LSK etc), liquidity, whale manipulation etc etc SUCKS!

Keep holding your bags as 'investors' lol

I've successfully completed one trade on bitsquare. This is fantastic news and I hope everybody support bitsquare by adding liquidity to the market. I certainly will.

What are the fees? approx.
I spent 0.98 BTC and was charged 0.0005 BTC in "create offer fee" and it appears I spent 0.0002 on the trade itself (I assume this is fee to the bitcoin network). So a total of 0.0007 BTC. That's 0.07% fee. I was the maker, not the taker. According to their FAQ taker pays 0.001 BTC for a trade.

From their FAQ:

Quote
A small fee of 0.0005 BTC when creating an offer and 0.001 BTC when taking an offer is paid to Bitsquare’s arbitrators for their service availability. Further, this fee discourages spam and market manipulation. A security deposit of 0.01 BTC is required by all traders to participate in a transaction, but the deposits are fully refunded to both parties after a successful trade.

Other potential costs you may encounter are miner’s fees to transfer cryptocurrency, or banking fees to transfer national currency.
