143  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do you play loteries ,did you won something on: November 22, 2015, 07:54:55 PM
I used to do it occasionaly but then I realized how ridicilously horrible the odds of winning anything big are. Most cases if you're buying a 15$ ticket or something just bet it on a dice site instead with 10% odds and you'll atleast have "good" odds of winning over 100 bucks. I used to play national lotteries sometimes, and back when there was a bitcoin site for buying tickets I did, with which I was actually somehow lucky enough to once win an entire bitcoin, but generally I'd advise against it to anyone.
144  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling. Is It Wrong? on: November 20, 2015, 01:12:26 PM
Gambling is fine, although I had to accept that I had to really do it less because I'd be too tempted to continue betting. Originally i was fine betting with small amounts like 0.01BTC at a time (at the time this was not that much) , and then if I'd win I'd store some away, gamble with what's left. But I'd just if I did lose end up also using the money I stored away to gamble and try to win it back. And I kept having to win/lose higher amounts to get the same amount of joy , and at one point in 2014 I bet 2,000$ worth of BTC in two bets with 10% odds. Since then I don't really use BTC for gambling anymore.
145  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling for a living or a living for Gambling? on: November 12, 2015, 02:57:03 PM
I wonder why people don't get that life is not always black or white. Not all people are immune to the thrill gambling offers, but most of them don't become addicted.
There's not as many crazy all in gamblers as you might think.

Not everyone is addicted, but by nature gambling is very addictive and many people are susceptible to it. It's not the same as being addicted to a chemical like Nicotine from smoking, but when you win a bet you get some excitement, chemicals get released and you're happy. But say you start betting with very low amounts like 0.01 BTC, and you win big on low odds you will keep wanting to bet higher amounts or on way lower odds so you can get bigger winnings and get more good feelings from it. Atleast that's how it went for me.

147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any true blockchain based gambling game ? on: November 10, 2015, 12:55:59 PM
What do you mean by blockchain based games? I know that there would be people gambling by making transactions and then they would win if their transaction ID ended on a certain number or whatever but this was pretty abusable since you can manipulate it. Also I think SatoshiDice uses (used?) to get their RNG for the rolls from the transaction id but don't quote me on that, I'm not entirely sure if they still do that or if it was flawed.
148  Economy / Gambling / Re: "Unfold" button in poker. Would that work? on: November 10, 2015, 12:52:59 PM
I don't think this would in any way ever be a good idea. It removes a lot of skill and decision making that differentiates good poker players from good poker players. Even if you 'punish' the person unfolding by doubling the bet or pot. Also it's very easy to exploit or cheat using this especially if you have a group of friends or people you know that you'll play with and organise with. If you fold you fold, it should stay that way.
149  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dice game strategy? on: November 10, 2015, 12:49:50 PM
House never lose, that's the rule, but it's good in short term to beat the house just for the pleasure of it.
how house can always win?
by the JS/script on their site which set to always win?
i dont know it

house always win in the long run as because of the house edge so even a gambler is so lucky, he can still lose on the house if he dont know when to stop
with such, no matter how good the strategy, will always to lose right?
House edge gives the user a lower chance to win with the same payout. In a dice site, with 1% house edge, the number must be below 49.50 or 50.49 if the minimum and maximum possible number is 0 and 99.99 respectively. If the number is between or on 49.50 or 50.49, the user will lose. Hence, the user have a high chance of losing over the long run.

Yes. No strategy ever works for the long run.

No strategy ever works in the long run because of limits, the house edge isn't really a problem. Theoretically assuming there's no max bet and you have an infinite bankroll you can keep betting using the martingale method and eventually always come in positively. (this is theoretical, I realize an there are astronomically low odds of an 'infinite' streak happening). More on the subject, I like the idea of reverse martingaling. It's pretty risky but an interesting strategy, you start low and bet on a side and then you keep betting (with 50/50 odds, black/red or odds/even etc) and you go up for like a 5-6 streak or whatever number you choose then cash out and repeat.
150  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling for a living or a living for Gambling? on: November 09, 2015, 08:24:49 AM
You could gamble for a living if you cheat the casino or either play poker since is a game were not only luck but skill ... and yes most of the people is living for the gamble.. that's sick because they do not only ruin they'r life but family and loved ones.

Most of us cannot gamble for a living as we do not know how to cheat and cannot cheat. Most of us also do not have the skills to win in skill games such as poker. Casinos live on gambling as they provide the gambling service. They deserve the profits.

You really don't need to cheat to win with gambling, unless you're trying to game luck-based games. Also skills like playing poker are very learnable, not something you naturally get.

152  Other / Off-topic / Re: Worst mistake you did with Bitcoin? on: November 09, 2015, 08:04:24 AM
Use MtGox, in fact let others control my money.

In what scenario would you not have to let someone control your money though? Untill you have the coins in a wallet of your own or have them stored some other way you would've have to went through a bank account and a processor like Bitstamp or mtGox, it's pretty unavoidable. And aside from taking pretty large fees it's not like you're going to get screwed over by the larger processors, well, aside from what happened with MtGox.
153  Other / Off-topic / Re: Worst mistake you did with Bitcoin? on: November 09, 2015, 07:15:50 AM
I've made a multitude of mis-investments over the years, which is a shame but I still got out of BTC with a nice profit overall. I cashed out a decent amount of my bitcoin right before a major price increase, could've had 7k$. I also pulled out my shares in that one big mining company ages ago, which I forgot the name of. The shares did something ridiclous like triple in price and I could've had a lot of money from that.
154  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Much Bitcoins Do You Have? on: November 09, 2015, 07:05:25 AM
the funny thing i see is everyone is truly devoted and passionate about bitcoin.
but most people do not earn a proper living (1btc/week) with bitcoin, even further is that alot of users have far less than half a weeks national minimum wage, saved in bitcoins.

i start to wonder what all these people with under $10 in bitcoin are actually doing to:
personally help bitcoin economy grow
personally help bitcoins usefulness
personally secure the network via being a node or mining

because these people with less than a weeks wage invested, must know.. when truly thinking about it that they must have atleast $300 of gold in their house, but are not really interested in the gold markets.. (gold can be found in tooth filings, computer components, jewellery, household objects).

i especially wonder why thy havnt put aside atleast $200 in bitcoin. for a rainy day.

after all $200 is the equivelent of just 10 fast food takaway meals for a small family.. pretty much wasting money by buying fast food whic ends up down the toilet..

so a question to people with under $200 in bitcoin,,, why so low investment?

If you're already at the possibility of having bad days due to work, why would you put 200 bucks into a volatile currency? It's not a risk-free investment. Most people will not be willing to invest in BTC after seeing the price drops it's had over the time and how volatile it can be.

I'm still buying 0.07 BTC worth of keys, about 13-14 keys depending on the price at the time of the trade.
157  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling for a living or a living for Gambling? on: November 08, 2015, 10:25:38 PM
I gamble for fun, and the advantage of that is if you get lucky you can get out of it with a good buck.

Reminds me of the days when people would gamble on BitVegas for fun, with drinks and the VIP lounge...ah, those were good times. Now it's just people using a bunch of alt accounts to try to milk faucets all day long.

Mind you, that happened on BitVegas as well.

Oh hey, man it's been long. Didn't think you'd still be around here. And yeah, Bit Vegas was great, shame it dissapeared.
158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Much Bitcoins Do You Have? on: November 08, 2015, 10:24:38 PM
Just found 0.1 in an old wallet of mine. Should have a whole bitcoin on an old HDD but it corrupted and haven't bothered attempting to recover it yet.

A whole Bitcoin is alot of money. Why not try to recover it?

Haven't really gotten to it yet, they were RAID formatted so it's going to be a pain to actually attempt to recover any data. But as you mentioned it might be worth looking into soon.
