IPs are so fucking overrated. Most information can be gained about a person by careful pattern matching in regards to their behaviour. Reasons for choosing certain "names", peculiarities of speech/writing, specialization of interests, behavioural patterns all, flaws in their chosen internet persona all deliver information that is extremely useful to track down the person behind the account.  This is especially true for young wanna-be-hackers with their need for approval and recognition and their absolute (and misplaced) trust in the superiority of technology. Recognition requires repetition and indentification. The trail from that carefully built identifiable persona to the person behind is often much shorter than most imagine.

this thread is just the tip of the Iceberg. DiamondCardz you are on the right track with identifying scammers, however you're accuracy is becoming poor at best. you negged this account mistakenly in the HollowInfinity thread. you can contact TF to inquire about my identity. there is alot more going on here then most of us understand at this point but we have narrowed this group down to a list of people, and we caught them coming of of tor exit nodes and traced them all the way back to [country ommitted]. keep up the good work and i will keep helping as needed.

THIS JUST IN: You can trace Tor!
I doubt it.

You'd be surprised.

Surely if you have "evidence" that netzwerg account has been sold to a phishing ring, you would be free to post this evidence here? This would be more damning to the phishing ring (and netzwerg) than your basisless, unsubstantiated claims that you have put out so far...

They can't be publicly disclosed at this stage. This is much more complex than it looks like.

Here's something I can disclose that should give you more background - this is a PM from a 2012 member:

Quote
A while back these guys contacted me and offered me BTC to create a script that would 'browse' the forum for 4 hours and make automated posts, eventually I posted on an account briefly, that was all of my involvement they stopped contacting me after payment. I had nothing to do with the phishing or hacking or whatever else these people did.

Internal chat logs of this ring:

Quote
who's [redacted]?
we hired him a while ago to make the mass bitcointalk account creating script and he posted on a sock for a while
thats the nick I was trying to find! I grilled [redacted2] earlier, all he knows is that [redacted] is connected, he could be a risk, I dont think it warrants eyes on [redacted] through
confirmed, [redacted] knows nothing, other than the fact we create and operate lots of alts

What is it? A conspiracy against bitcointalk?

Two-Fortyniner, abort mission. I repeat, abort mission. We have been compromised. All units, Directive Ramen Noodle is active. Repeat, all units, Ramen Noodle has been activated.

I think it's ideal to be about 10-15 pounds heavier than the official tables because if you need an operation suddenly, it makes it easier to survive the IV feeding only phase. Also, what if there is a crisis and food is suddenly not available. Always good to have some reserves just in case.

When there's a food crisis, you just eat the slow people, duh.

There's a guy at my work who downloaded a game called bus driver. It was even so successful they released a sequel!!

Sure. Why not? It's better than Forklift Driver or Road Construnction Vehicle Driver. If those got a sequel sure Bus Driver deserves one too.

Warning. Likely scam. OP has negative trust on seals and bcchanger. Posting history shows typical scammer behaviour.

Sorry for Party Pooping.

Every man, at wake, is given his own right to the land, body, and spirit. This should not be impeded by another man, group, or state.

Freedom, privacy, and self-worth are the most important things a man has in his life. He shall not be impeded by another man, state, or collective.

One of the funnier moments was when Allah was proclaimed the "One True Comrade", and all the communists were ordered to wear burkas, even the men.

I see this is working out beautyfully already.
1415  Other / Off-topic / Re: best movie you have ever seen in your life on: July 11, 2013, 06:46:11 PM

I've seen all of those, except for Ikiru, which I have on DVD, so it's on my list.

This is not a joke. Do this now and you will forever thank me. Drop whatever you are doing, doesn't matter if the child falls to a gruesome death 30 stories below or you're in the process of writing down a perfect and simple solution towards world peace in the short fleeting minutes you can remember it, drop whatever it is you do and watch Ikiru now. It's that good.

Sansho the Bailiff

Sansho Dayu was awesome. I don't think I've ever seen such an intense emotional rollercoaster before or after.

Anju, how I long for you.
Isn't life torture?

How a song found a mother's children. Such a beautiful and tragic story. The last ten minutes were intense and powerful.

Kenji Mizoguchi, the director, is one of the big four. The four are Yasujiro Ozu, Akira Kurosawa, Mikio Naruse, and of course, Kenji Mizoguchi. If you haven't explored the classic film canon of mid 20th Century Japanese cinema, aside from Sansho Dayu, no better time to start than now.

Since you're familiar with Sansho the Bailiff, then you might be aware that the mother was played by Kinuyo Tanaka. Much earlier in this thread, I mentioned a wonderful Yasujiro Ozu film starring Kinuyo Tanaka. It was Equinox Flower. Ozu is pretty much universally praised as one of the greatest directors of all time. In practical terms, what does that mean? It means that everyone who gets familiar with his work absolutely loves it. I earnestly encourage you to explore not just the films of the big four, but also films by these semi contemporaries of the big four: Keisuke Kinoshita, Masahiro Shinoda, Shohei Imamura, Nagasi Oshima, and Masaki Kobayashi.

But first, since you've seen Sansho the Bailiff, let's take a deeper look at what others are saying.

David Bordwell on Mizoguchi and Sansho the Bailiff:
http://www.davidbordwell.net/books/figures_intro.php?ss=3

Roger Ebert lists Sansho the Bailiff as one of the 'Great Films' and gives it four stars:
http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/great-movie-sansho-the-bailiff-1954

Two articles from Criterion:
http://www.criterion.com/current/posts/2678-sansho-the-bailiff-the-lessons-of-sansho
http://www.criterion.com/current/posts/960-sansho-the-bailiff

The 50s were indeed a great time for Japanese movies. The emotional impact of some of these are staggering. I suspect this has much to do with the healing the Japanese psyche needed after Hiroshima.

Other favorites of mine from that time:
- Kurosawas Ikiru, Rashomon and The Seven Samurai of course
- Ugetsu monogatari, which you already mentioned
- Ozu's Tokyo mongatari is another treat dealing with the mental break between Taisho-era Japan (agrarian, slow, reserved) and the brash, industrial, hurried Showa-era Japan symbolized in the struggles of a family.

The recent announcement of Jon Matonis stepping up as the executive director

Is he now? Excellent. Time to destroy his Forbes "career". I'm off trophy hunting. Toodles, dudes and dudettes.
