Worse. It's already taken.
502  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp's massive theft from customers, refusing to close accounts on: October 11, 2013, 10:34:49 AM
Bitstamp itself is from Slovenia and likely only registered a UK Ltd. because it is cheaper there and regulations in the financial sector are even more generous than in Slovenia. Also it might be easier to get an answer from british officials regarding regulations of shady/very new financial constructs, as they are used to see that daily compared to Slovenian regulators.

No, it is because a huge amount of scams is run by a slavic group through that very adress very successfully already

Laff, you said "company"  Cheesy

No really, this is again an example that should remind people to take a closer look at who you're dealing with.

Look at bitstamps supposed adress and google it : 5 Jupiter House Calleva Park, Aldermaston

Not only is this again a mail forwarder, but it is one of THE most infamous RL adresses on the net due to the absurdly high amount of scams being run though it.

Remember, there is no reason for a legitimate company to hide behind mail forwarders, virtual offices, proxy registrants etc. In contrast to the real economy however 99% of bitcoin "companies" hide behind exactly that type of curtain. And those that do invariably turn out to be either scams or to be run by hacks.

Google your adresses, people, it'll save you a lot of grief.
506  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let Wikipedia know, that we are here! on: October 11, 2013, 09:23:47 AM
But if Wikipedia finally accepts Bitcoin, and no Bitcoin donation actually being made afterwards, it's just super lulz  Tongue

All of this has happened before, all of this will happen again.
507  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Faucets app for Android devices on: October 11, 2013, 09:18:42 AM

I expect this is open source? Or how are you going to ensure your app isn't a wallet/login data stealer?
508  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dwolla stops support for virtual currencies on: October 11, 2013, 09:17:19 AM
Not only that but Bitfunder.com is now closed for USA users. BTCT closed down.

Bitcoin is set to become the World minus USA currency.

First Mt Gox, then BitInstant, now Dwolla. Americans BTC users don't have many options for exchanging local currency.
Minus Thailand, too, and it's legally iffy in China.

I thought China had outlawed all types of virtual currencies? Or was that only WoW Gold?
509  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox stealing my BTCs? on: October 11, 2013, 09:15:24 AM
Let me guess. No 2FA?

no viruses...

How would you even know that?

Because I ran a full check with 4 different anti malware / anti virus tools?

That would only protect you from common threats, which the highly specialiced trojans/keyloggers out for bitcoin exchange login data most definitely are not.

The only way to confidently deny the presence of bitcoin malware is if you'd exclusively accessed exchanges via a fresh and clean VM.

None of them have any class, one's a drug dealer and the other operated a ponzi, where did all the classic criminals that stole gold from banks go?

banks

513  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp's massive theft from customers, refusing to close accounts on: October 11, 2013, 08:07:57 AM
Now they've basically stolen my money and won't give it back unless I send enough high-resolution documentation to steal my identity to some dude in Slovenia.

Is this to be an empathy test? Capillary dilation of the so-called blush response? Fluctuation of the pupil. Involuntary dilation of the iris...
514  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HELP FREAKING OUT on: October 10, 2013, 09:55:40 PM
I've never heard of this happening.

So you're saying that you've created multiple addresses under the "Receive" section, and that none of those addresses show up any longer when you look in the "Receive" section?

I had that happen during a client update. It was resolved through a -rescan.
515  Other / Meta / Re: New web service: RSS feeds for topics and users' posts on: October 10, 2013, 06:15:03 PM
Is this a cron job per feed?

Or is one cron job for all of them at the same time and we will see the forums grind to a halt every ten minutes in the future?

I wouldn't worry. Now that Silk Road is done for, he'll hopefully calm down due to lack of drugs.

Can't understand the point on this thread. Can someone explain what this all about?

520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 600,000 coins gone!! DPR's personal wallet un crackable! on: October 10, 2013, 09:31:26 AM
How is it uncrackable? I heard it may be a brain wallet. What is that?

Its uncrackable because its presumably heavily encrypted and not worth the years of dedicated computing power it would take to crack. A brain wallet is a wallet designed around a simple phrase or collection of words. The idea being you only need to know the phrase and a predictable bitcoin address can be generated using a specific algorithm. It allows the owner to delete any physical copy of the wallet. The only way to get to the coins is to know the phrase. The coins effectively exist nowhere but the mind of the owner, hence the name "brain wallet"

I'm pretty sure skulls are crackable.
