1421  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WHICH BITCOIN WALLET IS THE MOST GOOD AND CONVINENCY on: April 08, 2016, 04:09:08 PM
I will go with localbitcoins.com as I think that is most convenient wallet as I need to transfer my btc to my bank account and localbitcoin is the best as the transfers are done in fraction  of minutes.

Did they deal with international banks or just local banks only?

It is really more of a exchange then a wallet.  Normally people that use LBC tend to be the ones who don't like having it linked to an account tied to yourself.  If you don't mind it there is much better such as US going with coinbase.

LBC I think of as people who want to be more anonymous.  Like ones in US who don't want to go with a exchange that follows KYC.
1422  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3+ Discussion and Support Thread on: April 08, 2016, 04:00:40 PM
Just found it and applied myself moments before - thanks anyway for replay.
------------------------------
Next question - I need to slow down my batch of S3/S3+ during work hours.
I am doing it now manually by changing Frequency.
Can this be done with crontab? Can you give me sample of crontab for that?

It's no longer being worked on but should still work on M's ant monitor - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=596178.0 .  It was pretty popular at one point, but has lost some popularity with no longer being worked on.

It should allow scheduling pretty easily.  You might be able to do it with crontab aswell.
1423  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BEST HARDWARE FOR 1 BITCOIN? on: April 08, 2016, 03:58:06 PM
Thank you soi much to all of you for your help... I've been mining for a while now but i know that in Europe is quite difficult to get profit   even whis S7's...  Cry
I'll take a look for new hardware...
Thank you again

Best of luck, sadly I don't see EU changing much.  Due to vat/import it is argubly one of the hardest places to profit on mining gear from initial investment.  Miners are just to expensive over there most of time.

You are far better of buying and hosting somewhere out of EU I think.  As far as new hardware... all speculation no one can really say much on when/what we will see.  But new gear does not change EU vat/import tax sadly for EU miners.   So I still see hardware as to high to start in most cases there.
what do you mean whit buy and hosting? What do you think about investing in cloud mining?

I prefer owning equipment over cloudming.  Sadly most cloud mining are ponzi schemes, if you really want to do it go hashnest.  But still I would own hardware.

You can buy a S7 and find a good hosting center for it.  There are several that advertise on the forums.  But buy and have it shipped and hosted there vs going to EU.  Save on vat and chances are on electricity price to.
Hashnest is a nice idea but, what do you think about hashflare? Doing some calculation I think that if you invest in hashflare you will get your money back in 6 months and after that 100% profit... what do you think?
And related to s7 hosting i cant find something like it in Europe and i can find a cheap used one Cry

Again EU vat/import will make it where you dont get S7's for price they should be.  It costs to much and likely you will not ROI.   Hosting would be outside of Europe for your machine and you would buy direct from bitmain.

But on cloudmining DO NOT use cheapest as indicator as many scams are out there.  Hashflare I know nothing about... but I would not trust them with my BTC.  You want one that you know will not run off with your money, that is hashnest.
Ok I'll forget about hashflare... I dont want to invest 1 BTC in cloud mining so whats the hashrate that you would recommend me?

I would recommend saving a little more and getting a S7.   Or save and see if next gen comes out by the time you save enough.  At your electricity rate you really are not going to get much with previous gen gear.  And still I suggest looking at hosting centers out of the EU.

So it makes sense to wait.  You could even buy a BTC and hold whall you wait.   So think about that, I would not jump into it though and get old gear in your case.
1424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Only have enough $$ to buy one mining rig... SHA-256 vs Scrypt Mining?! on: April 08, 2016, 03:54:41 PM
Buy the GPU's for scrypt and other non-SHA256 altcoins, point them at multi-pool with auto mining feature. Profit! SHA-256 mining is a race to the bottom due to rising diff for bitcoins, while scrypt mining with GPU's do not have this fast rising diff problem at present time. Unless someone comes out newer scrypt miners, even then you can mine altcoins with non-scrypt/non-SHA256 algo.

If you are mining GPU's chances are it's a ETH rig currently.  That seems to be the new "it" alt coin for gpu miners, I still hold reservation's and have not built any new rigs to mine it.  I just don't want to build then quickly after be forced to sale.

That being said pure scrypt has asics... they beat the heck out of GPU's.  So were talking about algo varients of scrypt that are GPU resistant.  And sha256... I still tend to mine BTC been a long time since I have mined an alt on it.
Ether is infinitely risky right now because Ether could collapse at any time and requires a large investment to actually make a few pennies. That said, the best cards for Ethereum tend to be cards that are cheap and also powerful; 750, 750 ti, 950 all work well, however the first two are much more economical than the latter. AMD also produces powerful cards, and cards like the R9 285,  290, and all of the R9 300 series crank out enormous hashrate for one card. Keep in mind of the large risk and initial investment, but the reward is mind-blowingly high right now. Ether ASICs might come out eventually, but looking at the stability of Ether, it may not last long enough for that to happen.

I don't think cheap and powerful really go together.  It is expensive and more power on most GPU cards, you can buy cheaper cards but you are getting less hash.  So you are giving something up to save money.  And even the cards mentioned by the time you buy 6 for a good rig your talking a decent amount.

I can remember selling off all my GPU rigs long ago.  It is not much fun as a lot sell at once (could happen here).  Not to mention dealing with a good amount of ebay auctions for the most money.   So again I see lots of risk, and not the reward/security I want personally to invest right now.  Maybe one day.... but not yet.
1425  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Pool vs Solo? on: April 08, 2016, 03:51:10 PM
On average, when speaking over such a very long time period, on average solo mining will have at least saved you the pool fee.
However, this is an average. You might be lucky or unlucky, whereas pool mining in a very large pool will cost you the pool fee in order to even out your luck.

You need a lot more hashing power though for this to be true.  Say you have a S7 and throw it up.... you might save pool fees but chances of hitting a block are pretty much zero.   Even if good luck it is still more like lotto mining at that point.

So I would say you have to have a LOT of gear for solo mining to make sense.  For most joining a pool and getting paid makes more sense.
1426  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BW 14nm Miners Update on: April 08, 2016, 03:48:54 PM
BW is currently the #5 hash producer overall accounting for 8% of the network in the world and #1 Cloud mining provider in China. We have a earned a reputation of reliability and quality service in the domestic market. BW looks forward to bringing the same level of service to the international market. Please take a look at some pics of the office, mining farm and a look at the first batch our 14nm miners. Also here's our recent article in Bitcoin Magazine introducing the history and business of BW.

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/the-unknown-giant-a-first-look-inside-bw-one-of-china-s-oldest-and-largest-miners-1444675310

http://imgur.com/a/WHajz

BW will not take pre-sale money from public sales and is committed to decentralization of Bitcoin mining by providing high performance miners to the public. Unfortunately due to incredible demand in our home market from large volume purchasers we are not able to open public sales as previously scheduled in April.

They might not have pre-sold gear.  But they sold hash for b-12 and such.  There were a couple they sold that equials quite a bit of hash.  I think they will come through on it most likely and all will go fine, but it's still pre-selling.

Not sure how they are against decentralization though.  They are one of the biggest companies on hashing power.

1428  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin Mining Documentary Aired in China on: April 08, 2016, 07:20:58 AM
Aired on April 1st... Obvious April Fools Joke (by BTCC). Pretty funny though

I give them some credit for being funny and making look serious.  Some highlights showing it is a april fools joke:

Shirt says: Your Bitcoin Company
He say's he met Satoshi and is very close with him
Adam and Austin call all mining operations to say how much can be mined
The mining... is great you have to watch it to understand.

They did a horrible job getting it out there for people to see.  It should have been posted more here on April 1st it was worth and funny.  It deserves more views then it has in a week.
1429  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: April 08, 2016, 07:14:23 AM

The only thing about this is it appear there is a small reservoir of coolant.   I personally like having a decent amount of reservoir space granted I'm sure I'm on the overkill side of it.

Same thing with amazon submersible pump except it had no reservoir.   So seems like if any coolant evaporation or something you would have a little air which you really do not want.
1430  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New one fan S7 on: April 08, 2016, 07:09:58 AM
So, just got the S7-F1 hooked up and running. Temps are low today, in the 60's so I went ahead and let it ride at 700 and it's holding steady at 59c on the highest blade with .0005% error rate. Going to let this go for a bit as the temps will rise into the 70's next week. I will keep you all updated on how it goes. As for the noise it does seem a bit quieter than the others but since they are all on the same rack it's hard to tell.

Also, the packaging was all updated, new foam, smaller box etc... So this was definitely not just a stop putting one of the fans on redesign

what/how does the backplate look like. is it a completely new panel or did they slap the grate over the old one? (can you screw mount a fan to the back?)

If possible many of us would love if you could post some pictures of it.   If you could get all 4 sides and a few extra shots would be a great addition to this thread.  If you have a decent camera please think of this Smiley
1431  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BW 14nm Miners Update on: April 08, 2016, 07:07:08 AM
Regardless of how you pay, it's that no one can say what the halving is going to do to network hash rate and difficulty and what that means in how long it would take a brand new machine to pay itself back.  I tend to think most people would just wait to see what happens first.

Not necessary - there are rumors that BitHash will trough on us a new miner in mid of May

If so - I will buy one

I would take it as a grain of salt personally.   Looking are we talking about smaller cloud mining company?  I don't see them hitting a next gen miner in next month.   Just do not see it.

Have they asked for pre-orders or anything?  I just see a lot of red flags possibly here.
1432  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is it to late to buy an S7? on: April 08, 2016, 07:04:48 AM
I'm in the US
There's no import tax for mining gears from China in the US. Although, there was a guy here who had to pay customs fee due to paper work snafu inside UPS/Fedex/???

If it's a large number on import tax on miners make sure to get it fixed with shipper, it should be none to small (normally none) in us.   With .09 cents you are still at the high side of electricity.  So  profits are far from guaranteed.

I would suggest trying one to get into mining, but know it might not ROI.  Just a tough time for miners.
1433  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The halving is coming. What's your next move? on: April 08, 2016, 07:02:03 AM
I sold some but want to get rid of all my inventory of ASIC miners. Concentrating on ETH right now and might get back into BTC mining in 3-6 months.

I don't think it's a horrible idea on current inventory.  With current coupon price on S7's it almost makes me want to see current gen and buy back in after next gen, and after we see next gen difficulty jumps at least at first.

Double I ever sell all my asics, but tempting as I  see S7 price pushing down current gen in value as we speak.

So maybe Bitmain and other manufacturers are already mining with the new miners and they are keen to get rid of the old S7 as well.

BW confirmed today large customers have been mining with their new miners and public availability is June. That would explain the increase in difficulty over the past few months.

We don't really have numbers to make it prove its them though.  The first machines did not even get close to spec.   So we don't know what the current spec of gear is, and they use a LOT internally.

Likely we will know more in June if they keep that date.  But I want to see evidence of them hitting targets on efficiency or it really is not as big as deal as we thought.
1434  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How We can spread about Bitcoins in Social networks. on: April 08, 2016, 06:59:37 AM
Hi Buddies,

I would like to know, How can we spread about bitcoins in social media networks like Twitter, Facebook, Whatsapp and etc... Please quote your replies with your knowledge, How you are spreading bitcoins and How newbies can try to spread the bitcoins Globally!  BTCitcoin Rocks...

I am not aware of it. I was spread some gambling sites which is related to Bitcoins and I have done a video for bitcoins earning and I posted that in my Youtube channel.
I think we guys should spread the bitcoins largely to get a demand in supply, then rate also will move higher and higher.

I would not spread gambling sites if you want good results spreading bitcoin.  You really want new people to tie bitcoin with crypto currency, and not activities such as gambling or other possible bad things.  Sadly many news stories focus of the bad side.

I would share new sites taking BTC, or good way's to use it.  But it's going to be hard to get most of your social network to read/care I think in a lot of cases.
1435  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to collect BTC ?? on: April 08, 2016, 06:56:41 AM
I am collecting it from signature campaign and trading as I think that is the best way to collect some bitcoins in a quick time and I gamble it sometimes too  Grin
Exactly because of a signature campaign and I think trade is also very reliable, we can collect bitcoin there. But for gambling I do not dare to try it because I am afraid of losing in gambling.

Trading of cryptocurrency is good and also the signature campaign as a source and means of collecting bitcoin...But gambling is not, that is for sure..It's too risky to gamble even if they say that gamble that comes with "luck" could make you great money...

Trading is not easy though.  Many will mention trading but a lot are pump/dump alts and you can lose money quick to.  Anything with a high risk/high reward... has a high loss chance to.   So I always suggest caution with trading as I hate people to go crazy and lose a lot.

"luck" should not be something you count on for investments.
1436  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [TUTORIAL] Earn Bitcoin Here! on: April 08, 2016, 06:53:33 AM

I'm guessing he is talking about his "survey" - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1287718.0 which kinda looked like a attempt to get posts looking at how long it ran, and was all for a pie chart that a very limited number entered into.  Also it being in newbie forum had to effect it.  But even his own survey does not show 99 percent as poor.

The thing about bitcoins is we cannot tie them to a person easily so we can't say blanket figures like 99 percent are poor.   But far less then 99 percent are poor I think.  And what do you consider poor?  As that term means SO many different amounts depending on where you live.

Well we didnt know who participated in surveys, but lets just assume it was newbies.

But i have fresh data , if you look at the new number of bitcoin users, mostly from Philipines, and SE asia nowadays, then you can correlate that with faucet users and small earning website users data.

You will interestingly find out that almost all new waves of new bitcoin users end up in faucet sites or other earning sites, with small payouts.

That should suggest that most bitcoin users (which are not the core of this forum, the first 10,000 users) are most likely poor as hell.

Also you can look at the address bitcoin distribution, and the mt gox data to figure out the distribution of wealth.

There are several indicators that point out that most of the wealth is concentrated in the top 2% of bitcoin users Smiley

The bitcoin elite could hold as much as 65% of the coins.

And the other core users, which is probably not more than 50,000, hold the other 20-25%.

The remaining 10% is then shared by all newbies. I suspect most dont even have 0.2 BTC

I mean no offense I just am not a fan of this tutorial.  It suggests buying of accounts, and loans.  Things I think new users should stay away from.  I think account farmers give signature users a bad name due to quality of posts.  As even if buyer does decent posts chances are the farmer had sub-par posts with a beginnner signature campaign.

I don't think you should count the "You will interestingly find out that almost all new waves of new bitcoin users end up in faucet sites or other earning sites, with small payouts." These are users who are brand new and are spending hours for cents.  Which is horrible.  A lot of these I don't consider users as they think it's get rich quick... try faucets... and leave after making cents.

Yes whales own a lot of BTC, but any fiat there is not a even distribution of wealth.  So I think bitcoin is the same as any fiat money.  But I don't think you can say "since 99% of bitcoin users are poor, we need to give them incentives."  I just don't believe this number.
1437  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WHICH BITCOIN WALLET IS THE MOST GOOD AND CONVINENCY on: April 07, 2016, 09:51:12 PM
1. blockchain.info
2. electrum
3. multibit
4. bitcoin core

are my orders of usage regarding convenience and security.
Don't mix security and convenience - blockchain.info could be very easy to use. No hassle with anything really, just create account and send/receive bitcoin.
But it is 3rd party service - your money are not absolutely secure there.

Nothing can beat Bitcoin Core - full validation wallet is unbeaten in security field.

There is a need for hot wallets though.  So blockchain.info is great for a web wallet that is a hot wallet.   You really can do a lot with 2nd factor, it does not save it from is site is hacked.  But still helps from someone with password trying to steal.

But your right I would not use it as my main wallet.  It is not meant for that.
1438  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASIC manufactures ... who is who? on: April 07, 2016, 09:47:08 PM
I personally wouldn't trust a 1-fan design for cooling ~1400W of gear.

The ASICMiner Prisma used a much less efficient heatsink design to cool 1150W on one fan.

You will see a decent amount of prisma's with issues be it burnt blades or other issues.   They were not the best design I don't think.  I personally skipped the miner completely, and did not regret it.
1439  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Running Miner off of Deep cycle batteries - expected drain? on: April 07, 2016, 09:45:16 PM
What is your goal of the batteries?  Are you going to be running solar setup on them?

I'm missing what main reason of needing the batteries is.   But few cent electricity beat's almost anything is why you will see "naysayers shunning the use of batteries".  Just normally a good initial investment keeps most from battery solutions most common being solar.
