I'm sure our overlords in Washington will do a good job coming up with their own laws. Who needs a foundation? I say we stop fighting for our rights and go with whatever reqirements regulators and banking lobbyists come up with.  Oh yes, the banking industry is not going to stop lobbying for their interests. They will dominate the discussion and get whatever they can get away with.
If I were a bank I would re-double my efforts right now and preclude any talk of bitcoin ATMs or selling/buying bitcoin without an expensive trade license. I would also go after your ISP for allowing bitcoin to exist on their network. You know, to keep the terrorists at bay.

I see the light.  Only the mighty Foundation stands between bitcoin cryptocurrency freedom and Orwellian doom.

You get one SLR for every MWh of solar electricity generated.

A typical 4kWpdc roof-mounted grid-tied system at 30-degree latitude will produce 6.5MWh annually, for an expected 98MWh over 15 years.  (The system will last longer, but 15 years is for comparison to the typical lease period).

The purchase price for such a system is USD 14,000 +/- 10%.  I'm guessing a 15-yr lease for such a system is USD 6000 up front, plus USD 50 monthly for 180 months.

So about USD 150 per SLR for the leased system, USD 110 for the purchased system, which can be expected to last at least 20 years.

Present worth, future worth, inflation, interest, all left out of this simplified analysis.  (Bitcoin isn't the only thing I'm too dumb for.)

PS  6500 annual kWh is enough to run a 750 GH/s rig 24/7.

within the ordinary course of business.

Wonder how the word "ordinary" is being used there.

Which is dubious in itself but lets assume the network is 450 PH/s the day before the halving and after the halving 50% of miners leave for this non-existent altcoin which is still more profitable than Bitcoin even with the difficulty that comes from 225 PH/s.

Should be fun to watch.

1.  Reward halves.
2.  Half the hashers depart.
3.  Reward per hash on bitcoin network doesn't change.
4.  No change in profit for the half that stay!  (Increase, really, if you count fees).

I wonder how the 50% who leave will make that decision.
1428  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Foundation Must Remove Satoshi as Founder on: May 10, 2014, 07:48:16 PM
You got it wrong.

Then who runs bitcointalk?

Theymos a non-member of the foundation.

Don't forget the mods!   Sometimes they ....... lash out (when you least expect it.)

if gox came back, it would likely be the best exchange out there. It would have a point to prove.

That's just it. It probably would be the best, simply because it had to be. I would look forward to that.

Sounds logical ... Newsweek is a great example of coming back better than ever, because they had to.

I know it's out of topic but might be interesting if you want to cut down the electricity bill and earn more. Smiley

I have installed solar panels and have ability to host your mining equipment with 5% of total mined at the end of the month.

I provide remote access and also maintenance if needed ( cleaning, etc.) I am computer technician and can also provide firmware updates if needed also )

If anyone wants then pm me.

Location: Greece , Athens

Thanks Smiley

Be advised that 100% solar supply of mining requires 5kWpdc/TH/s, minimum - assuming 24/7 mining.  Slightly less if single axis tracked, a little more less if dual-axis tracked.  This is a minimum USD 10,000 investment per TH/s on the part of the solar provider, more if off-grid.

I mean it like saying taking a spacecraft to the moon is a flawed strategy when we could just teleport there instead.  Also teleporting to the moon will require some teleportation capabilities and stuff.

Because, as we clutists all know, bitcointalk is the center of the bitcoin universe (as well as the observable universe).

Well, you and your little boyfriend enjoy your permanent stay in Hotel Ignore, m'kay?

You'll have lots of privacy there.  You won't have to worry about him telling everyone he stayed next door to you.

Random thought, how would a war in Europe affect Bitcoin ? 2014 seems to be a really really bad year so far

Please clarify ... would a war in Europe make 2014 better or worse?
