This is without question mad, unique, crazy and of course very cool!

I want one for my garden.

let me know when you go into production with them Cheesy

Viz

The foundry has been paid, and we're in the mold making stage now. The mold should be complete and ready for pouring by the month's end. Plus one more week for the sample / prototype to arrive for QC. Once that passes, it's 2-3 weeks until all ten (10) pieces arrive, ready for distribution to the pre-sale customers and lucky auction winners. Smiley

And I'll be laying my own prototype manhole cover in my backyard garden, as well. Wink

This is pretty epic, any plans to install one of these somewhere? Grin

Epic, indeed. Grin Unfortunately, I believe installing one of these without permission would be illegal. However, I'm all for making a few phone calls. Who knows?

Very cool idea and certainly an original one at that.
How will you go about shipping these internationally? I don't know what the pricing is but I'd assume shipping alone would be quite significant.

Thanks for the kind words, AT101ET. We do have a few options for our international customers. For those customers who simply wish to own one as an investment art piece and who don't necessarily need to physically possess it yet (for instance, they may be arranging for their own shipping services or simply waiting to flip it later for a small profit), we're offering a storage / housing service free of charge. We're also looking into third-party shipping services such as Parcel Monkey for our UK friends. Those services estimate a cost of ~$200 for delivery to many UK customers, which is actually quite favorable for something of this size and weight. And if the price of BTC goes up enough, then I may even spend the extra funds to hand-deliver it. Shocked

Ha...insanely well done, Bitcoin Penny!

Congrats on pulling this project off.

I liked the garden placement idea too. (..if you don't already OWN a road!)  Cheesy

I appreciate the kind words, GP. It's a big project (pun intended) for sure, but we're finally done with the hard part. Now it's a waiting game. Man, I can't WAIT to see one of these in person! And you're absolutely right...Totally insane! Grin

Thank you again, everyone, for all the kind words. We could never do something like this without your support!

(Oh, and before you ask...YES. Each of these unique art pieces will come with a free doodle. LOL)

Regards,
Chris

Any plans for a silver version of this??

What about gold? Grin

This is amazing.  Is it going to be cast in bronze?  I'm not even sure what manhole covers are normally made out of.  Copper would be really cool also.

LOL Silver, gold, and copper would be awesome, but much more expensive. Grin Besides, we wanted to keep things as authentic as possible with this particularly special project. We discussed several ideas for faux manhole covers (same size, but different materials and weights), but in the end, we decided that if these weren't authentic, then the entire soul of the art piece would be lost. Genuine and authentic manhole covers from a genuine and authentic manhole cover cast iron foundry. That's the ticket! This project will be 100% legit (and 110% LEGENDARY)! Grin

This would look great on my wall!

Officially, I'll probably have to challenge that idea, due to its weight and the resulting safety concerns. However, I suppose that if people can mount XL cast iron pan holders or large screen TVs onto a wall safely, then one of these might mount safely too, given proper anchoring into the wall studs, etc. On the other hand, we will have these custom-designed Industrial Pipe Display Stands available, just in case. Wink

Chris

Hmm... I have one of the pure silver (not plated) UNO bars from bigtimespaghetti. Not sure of the number, though. I'll have to check in a few days when I'm back in town. Thanks for the tip. Wink

I refuse to bid on these unless you promise me that she gets my winning bid!

Absolutely! As I stated in the OP...

All proceeds from this auction go to my daughter to fund new art supplies, art classes, and/or whatever art stuffs that might help further her dream of becoming a professional artist. (With a little luck, I may convince her to HODL a bit of BTC for art school. She wants to study on the West Coast!)

Introducing the Bitcoin Penny™ Daddy-Daughter Doodle Project!

This was a super fun doodle project that my youngest daughter and I had been planning for a long while. Abby and I co-doodled a total of ten (10) new doodles, and they're all up for auction!

Each of these ten (10) original doodles is signed by both artists (Abby & Chris) and individually numbered on the front -- DDDP #1/10, DDDP #2/10, DDDP #3/10, etc.

My daughter's artistic contribution to these doodles is in blue ink, while my own contribution is in my standard black ink. As a fun bonus, Abby has added a well-received touch of color to the blue-inked areas with an assortment of colored pencils. (FUN FACT: These are some of the very few COLOR doodles in existence!)

This is a multi-auction. Each of these ten (10) doodles will be auctioned SEPARATELY. In other words, you are bidding on one (1) doodle per bid. If you wish to bid on more than one (1) doodle, then please place your multiple bids in the following (or similar) format:

Quote from: YOU
DDDP #1 @ .004 BTC
DDDP #2 @ .0025 BTC
DDDP #5 @ .0035 BTC

All proceeds from this auction go to my daughter to fund new art supplies, art classes, and/or whatever art stuffs that might help further her dream of becoming a professional artist. (With a little luck, I may convince her to HODL a bit of BTC for art school. She wants to study on the West Coast!)

The ten (10) doodles included in this multi-auction are:

DDDP #1 - Umbrella
DDDP #2 - Chicken Biscuit
DDDP #3 - Flamingos
DDDP #4 - Boombox / Dancing Shoes
DDDP #5 - Paintbrush & Pencil
DDDP #6 - Donut & Coffee
DDDP #7 - Soup Can (NOTE: This is the only DDDP doodle that has the black-inked parts in color.)
DDDP #8 - Baby Dragon & Baby Knight
DDDP #9 - Tennis
DDDP #10 - Bumble Bee

Visibility bump....

Doodles to share???

Thanks for asking, MJ!

I've been off the grid for the last few weeks while traveling between SC/NC, NY, and Florida. During my spare time, my daughter and I have been working on our first annual Daddy-Daughter Doodle Project! (It's super fun co-doodling with my daughter!)

We've co-doodled ten (10) new doodles. Her contribution is in blue ink, and my contribution is in my typical black ink. Here's a quick photo of the doodles in progress...

We still have to add the superfluous labels/arrows as well as both signatures on each doodle. Then she'll be coloring the blue-inked parts (her own contributions) with assorted colored pencils. (FUN FACT: These are the only co-doodles I've ever produced, and they will be some of the very few COLOR doodles too!)

After the coloring is complete, we'll both sign the fronts, and I'll add something like "DDDP #1/10" or "DDDP #7/10" as well.

Then we'll be auctioning them with all proceeds going to my daughter for art supplies, art classes, and other miscellaneous art stuffs. (I may even convince her to HODL a little BTC for the future too!)

The Daddy-Daughter Doodle Project auction should be ready in the next day or two, so keep an eye out! Grin

And a big THANK YOU to you, MJ, and to everyone who supports these silly little doodles! Your support is VERY appreciated!

Regards,
Chris

I like the idea! Smiley

Last year, I made a postcard doodle. (See below.) I believe it was given to Mitchell. I tried to convince him to actually mail it to someone, then place it on auction. I would've paid a bit of money to own an actual posted doodle, complete with international postage stamps, etc.

Good luck with the project, krogothmanhattan!

Chris
