Your question reminds me of this, also related to sugar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NNTNM1Rixc

Thanks, it's interesting to know  Smiley
1423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How did “satoshi” become the name of the base unit? on: January 09, 2014, 08:18:44 PM
I'm pretty new to Bitcoin, but I know some basic things, like who Satoshi Nakamoto is (or isn't... since it's a pseudonym) and how his name was used for the base unit of Bitcoin (1×10^-8 BTC)... but why is it called like this? Did Satoshi decided this name, or others started using it in their honor? What's the history behind this?

I'm asking mainly because I've seen the recent “0.0001 BTC name poll”. Is this how the base unit was also named?
1424  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Name the 0.0001 BTC unit - Final Poll on: January 09, 2014, 04:58:01 PM
1 BTC = 1 bich?

(rhymes with itch)
1 bitch? I don't think that would be the best idea.
1425  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Name the 0.0001 BTC unit - Final Poll on: January 09, 2014, 04:57:30 PM
I think “finney” is the only reasonable option, because both “bit” and “bip” are confusing, and “nakamoto” refers to the same person that already has a unit (“satoshi”, obviously). I've never seen anywhere that a person gets two units named after them.

Exactly, some people just want to feel morally superior and it's these trypes of people who are usually the biggest hypocrites. They'll find these jokes funny, but stifle their laughter or come across offended. They're jokes; get over them.
I'm not morally superior. I have flaws, like everyone. But I genuinely didn't find those jokes funny.
1427  Other / Off-topic / Re: Post your best jokes here... on: January 08, 2014, 04:47:37 PM
I find jokes about rape and murder funny, yet I don't like or condone either. I'm also about as anti-racist as you can get, but I'm also pretty non-PC and I can find racial humour funny as long as the jokes are not malicious or clearly hateful.
You're just being contradictory in every sense, then. I'm sorry, but I can't respect you if you like all those kinds of jokes, even if you “don't condone them” (which doesn't make sense).
1428  Other / Off-topic / Re: Post your best jokes here... on: January 08, 2014, 04:16:36 PM
The notion itself isn't, but I liked the joke
But that's a contradiction, isn't it? If the joke is based on sexism, and you liked the joke, then you can't say you don't like sexism.
1429  Other / Off-topic / Re: Post your best jokes here... on: January 08, 2014, 04:05:29 PM
No shit!  Shocked
Is sexism funny to you?
1430  Other / Off-topic / Re: Post your best jokes here... on: January 08, 2014, 04:03:19 PM
It's playing on the stereotype that women can not sit still whilst remaining quiet.
its fun because in sub-continent most of peoples beleive 2 women cannot sit quietly even don't no each other   Cheesy
So, it's a sexist joke.
1431  Other / Off-topic / Re: Post your best jokes here... on: January 08, 2014, 01:21:18 AM
the shortest joke ever : 2 women sitting quietly
I don't get it. Why is this fun?
1432  Other / Off-topic / Re: Thinking about naming my baby girl Bitcoin.. (due in 3 weeks) on: January 08, 2014, 01:14:31 AM
Ive decided not to, plus wife yelled at me after I suggested it, even as a middle name lol. THanks for all the input though, Im sure someone one day will name their kid that.
Ive decided not to
Ive decided not to

Please stop insulting him. He has already made a decision.
1433  Other / Off-topic / Re: Thinking about naming my baby girl Bitcoin.. (due in 3 weeks) on: January 07, 2014, 06:47:27 PM
My personal opinion is if you really want to name her after a cryptocurrency then go with Litecoin as it sounds more feminine.

How come?
1434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Name the 0.0001 BTC unit - 1st POLL on: January 07, 2014, 04:53:08 AM
I don't think the name should have the syllable “bit” in any way, considering that it will be confused with “bitcoin” itself. That's why I voted for finney and man.

On the other hand, if we did want to have “bit” in the names, then we should just stick to SI prefixes.
1435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: WTS Altcoin Name Idea on: January 06, 2014, 01:31:09 AM
No, the name will work, don't think this post will, but gotta try right?
If you do something expecting it not to work, then you're doing something wrong.

1437  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Contest to name the 0.0001 BTC unit (0.1 BTC prize!) on: January 04, 2014, 03:27:28 AM
threezerobitcoin, trizebitcoin, triobitcoin, trinbitcoin, trinubitcoin, trizibitcoin, trezebitcoin - or some other variation of the same theme; the idea is that 0.0001 is composed of THREE ZEROS (000) followed by one bit (1); of course variations are written as they are pronounced, not gramatically p

I would like to give some feedback on this. Using “three” as the name of 0.0001 is misleading, because mathematically it's 10-4, so it should use “four” or some variation of it as part of its name.

I always thought you had to have a physical address in a country to get the specific domain.. IE - you have to have a canadian address to get .ca - never really put much thought into it, but OP makes a good point.  Never hurts to have a backup plan!

Learn something new every day!

In Canada this does happen, but other countries may have more relaxed rules.

For example, Tokelau (http://dot.tk/) gives free domains, along with paid plans, and you don't need to have an address on the island to use them.
