Would you have been happy if your parents had name you 'Dollar'?

Get a grip man. Giving her bitcoins: yes, cool, go for it. Naming her 'Bitcoin': not so much.
I'd be happy if my parents gave me the middle name of Billiondollar.

Anyway, I think it's a bad idea. The time span of technology moves way too fast - the likelihood of bitcoin existing as we know it 20 years from now is dismal (not to say it won't succeed, but a lot will change in the next 20 years).

I have 2 children and figuring out names for them took months.  It's akin to getting a tattoo; you really need to like the idea for a long period of time beforehand, because the novelty will wear off eventually.  Make sure you do not make a foolish decision on a whim.  At the same time you can name you kid whatever you want and all these banned names list are just the nanny state doing it's thing.

My personal opinion is if you really want to name her after a cryptocurrency then go with Litecoin as it sounds more feminine.

Go for it, OP, when she's older she'll appreciate it. That's almost like sharing a common name with a celebrity.

You could also consider getting her a tattoo with a QR code but I would wait with this until she's older and can consent to this.

Would you have been happy if your parents had name you 'Dollar'?

Get a grip man. Giving her bitcoins: yes, cool, go for it. Naming her 'Bitcoin': not so much.

My grandma calls her cat "Dollar", and the cat doesn't seem to be raising any objections.

Bitcoin sounds like a name pimps and/or strippers might adopt in the future, Id advise against

I have no idea why people seem to think that their childs name is some kind of creative space to be filled by their parents.

Call her Doge.

Please absolutely don't do that, not even as a middle name! Your child is not responsible for your beliefs and he/she will need to carry it for the entire life. It's a good name for a pet, not for a human being

*sigh*

Don't name your child Bitcoin.

Buy a TREZOR! Premier BTC hardware wallet. If you're reading this, you should probably buy one if you don't already have one. You'll thank me later.

Nice thinking, and you could also tattoo a QR code in her forehead so when you get press coverage you can also get donations! And maybe even sell her to a circus after you're done exploiting her! Roll Eyes

Really sad stuff, what kind of person even considers doing that to a child?   AngrySad

Lol @ all the shaming in here. Name your kid what you're gonna name 'er, but you'd better be ready for the backlash if you pick something retarded. Like pretty much any other parenting choice, eh.

First of all  CONGRATULATIONS!  Nice life changing event.

It's not my place to gabe name suggestions to someones baby,  however I would agree with some others that calling your child something like Bitcoin opens up the flood gates for them being teased later in life.  Imagine if you went to school with  girl name mastercard because he mom was obessed with shopping Smiley .  Imagine if bitcoin killed mastercard one day  ,  go figure!

I would'nt do this..

We dont know how Bitcoin will stand in the future..  And it is a mean of exchange, no good for a name, even a middle name.  Instead, buy some bumper sticker and put them on your car !

Excellent idea but only if you tattoo her with a QR code for her birthday

Lost coins only make everyone else's coins worth slightly more. Think of it as a donation to everyone.
it has lots of buttery taste..

If you hate your wife and the idea of having a child, *and* have a lot of bitcoins hidden to help pay child-support and alimony, then go ahead and do it. Seriously, it's probably ok to nickname her that because the rally started 9 months ago and brought us all a lot of luck!

Any significantly advanced cryptocurrency is indistinguishable from Ponzi Tulips.

Getting back to the purpose of this idea, OP wants to create press coverage.

Can anyone think of a better way to create press than naming his daughter Bitcoin?

I think there must about a billion better ideas for press coverage.
