1461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where are the innovation to promote Bitcoin? on: October 04, 2016, 06:12:30 AM
A few years ago, this forum was as busy as a Bee, with people trying to promote Bitcoin. The price was close to $1000 and people were

dishing out give-aways and doing treasure hunts and Puzzles.. and everyone had loads of fun. Lately, we only see Ponzi schemes and

cloud mining and people trying to take money from other people. Let's see some tipping on forums and Bitcoin Air drops and some active

Bitcoin promotion again, to increase adoption. Let's bring back the good ole days!  Roll Eyes

There`s no point of promoting bitcoin here, because this is a bitcoin forum. Grin

We should promote bitcoin on social media, youtube and blogs.

Promotion requires investing money and efforts.
That is definitely true, but the point that there were a lot more people on this forum a couple of years ago still stands. That then poses the question of why did so many people leave the forum if Bitcoin was booming at that time.
1462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Separate Computer for Bitcoin/Financial Information vs Personal? on: October 04, 2016, 06:09:03 AM
I have a laptop that i do everything on.  Basically use it for anything financial related such as bank accounts, electrum wallet, bitcoin wallet etc.  I stream youtube, watch sites etc so far with no issue.  My issue though is i like to watch porn.  Now i do watch porn through those streaming sites like xvideos, porhhub etc which doesn't seem to give me any issues.

The other thing though is i like to download porn from sites online.  Reason is because these videos you cannot stream it through pornhub, xvideo etc.  The other thing is i like to click on preview images of porn pictures.  I always done this without any issue.  But i was told that clicking on links are not really safe since a porn link for an image could cause a virus.

Basically the big main sites.  I was told in those forums... links for porns and images are usually very safe as long as the posters who posted it are long time posters and have a lot of likes by other members.  I believe they said a lot of these links are looked at by the site in case there is a virus, it would get deleted.  Of course someone who posted the video that is safe could later edit it etc.

I assume anyone here that has a laptop that does that bitcoin and financial information... you have separate computer for that... and one for your porn and other stuff?  By other stuff that means like downloading torrents etc.  I read someone mentioned that he downloaded some video game that was pirated and all his bitcoins got lost because of that.  That the uploader put a trojan/virus etc.  I don't download any torrents at all.  I do however like to download porn videos from depositfiles, rapidshare etc.  I also do make sure those posters are long time posters.  But i also like to download certain videos in another forums where even though they maybe long term posters, i dont know if videos are safe or not.   I have so far when downloaded those videos... haven't had an issue in a while with my laptop due to this.  Such that i use it for banking with no issue.

But i have not done this with a bitcoin wallet on my computer.  Does anyone here have advice on this?  I'm sure many of you like to download porn, click on images whether its porn or something else or download torrents etc.  Is it always a bad idea if you do this on your laptop where you have bitcoins stored?   I read any exe file is very bad.  Then again how would i even know a file is exe.  Couldnt it be another file but its really exe?

Also if this thread is not put in the right subforum, can it be put in the correct subforum?  I believe it does belong on bitcoin discussion though.

Just install a good anti-virus program and check your PC more often.

You can use a virtual machine or a sandboxed browser.Just doenlaod and install Sandboxie.

Bitcoin related malware can be really nasty.
Even good anti-virus programs sometimes don't stop all the viruses. They definitely do help, but OP probably already has a anti-virus. Most people get one as soon as they purchase a computer.
1463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FUCK! The Bitcoin is dead again. This time for sure. on: October 04, 2016, 06:06:51 AM
Already heard  a lot of posts like this, better use some other words. Bitcoin has faced lot of tough times, still it succeeds. On the other hand, we can say Altcoins may die.

I like your word that btc has faced tough times that is much more applicable rather than keep on saying that bitcoin is already dead. And we all know that it is not going to happen as bitcoin is going to be tougher for having a lot of investors that supports it. Especially there are lot more that are trying to consider the use of bitcoin in their industry.
At many points of Bitcoin's life you could have said that it was dying, but it never died. It is still here today and even though it has faced many hardships, it is still powering through.
1464  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Separate Computer for Bitcoin/Financial Information vs Personal? on: October 04, 2016, 05:56:49 AM
I've never heard of anyone that uses two computers for daily tasks.
Hi.  What do you mean don't connect it to main network.  You mean dont allow that computer that watches porn to watch porn thorough my internet connection?  If so... you want me to get 2 internet connections?  One for porn... one for regular use?  Isn't that a bit excessive?

Yes so im looking for advice for anyone who knows a lot about this.  I mean im sure all of you guys watch porn.  But unless you all stream it... then its no issue.  But im sure a lot of you click on pics etc so even that takes precaution.

Its very scary to have bitcoin wallet get hacked and thus i been very careful with my main laptop.
There are viruses that can do that, and if you want to be completely secure, then getting another internet connection might not be a bad thing.
1465  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 3 ways to grow more bitcoins and ways to lose it on: October 04, 2016, 05:52:39 AM
xcoins.io...... The site seems super fishy and I definitely don't recommend using it. Just stick to the major sites like Localbitcoins and Coinbase. 15% markup? Who would even buy Bitcoin at that price?
1466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who control bitcoin network? on: October 04, 2016, 05:46:12 AM
Bitcoin is decentralized which means that no one can control it. Saying this, some of the big miners have influence on Bitcoin but that doesn't mean they control it.
1467  Other / Off-topic / Re: Will you accept bitcoin as your salary? on: October 04, 2016, 05:01:55 AM
Not all salary. I still have to pay things that don't accept BTC(at leas taxes and stuff)

But part is a good option
I wouldn't either. Because I would then have to convert it into fiat if I wanted to buy anything and to pay my bills. It wouldn't be practical for a lot of people in the world as not many companies accept Bitcoin.
1468  Other / Off-topic / Re: Where do Bitcointalk members invest besides cryptocurrencies? on: October 04, 2016, 05:00:26 AM
Actually i am not investing anywhere my bitcoins right now because i dont have much right now.I am just focussed on saving and collecting more bitcoins to my wallet right and i will do that for 2-3 months more until i have enough amount of bitcoins, then i will plan to do some investements with my bitcoins.
You definitely should invest into other assets as you never know what is going to happen to Bitcoin. It is never good to keep all your eggs in one basket.
1469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where are the innovation to promote Bitcoin? on: October 04, 2016, 04:58:45 AM
I don't know why this has happened though. You would think that more people would join the forum with the amount of advertising going on, but the opposite happened.

Mainstream adoption & media interest in bitcoin seems to have died down recently. It's all a bit disappointing at the moment. We HODL on though.

Edit - Just to add that yeah I agree with the OP, the forum is so quiet now compared to how it used to be.
I wasn't around at the start of the forum but I had a few friends that were and they said it was much more popular a couple of years ago.
1470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You accidentally find Satoshi.....What would you do? on: October 04, 2016, 04:45:43 AM
I would probably kidnap him and then make him give me all of his Bitcoin. But to be completely honest, I wouldn't know what to do if I met Satoshi. Thank him, I guess.
1471  Other / Off-topic / Re: Where do Bitcointalk members invest besides cryptocurrencies? on: October 04, 2016, 04:37:09 AM
Well I invest in shares as well as gold. But most of my money has been invested into Bitcoin. I definitely have high hopes for Bitcoin and hopefully I earn some money from it.
1472  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you like to pay bills using bitcoins while staying at home? on: October 04, 2016, 04:31:33 AM
I would love to pay for my bills using Bitcoin, but there is no such thing is Australia and I doubt there ever will be. I guess in the Philippines, companies are fine with accepting Bitcoin.

Yeah how i wish bitcoin would more widely accepted since it would be a lot more convenient. Although i think it would come to that in time, just home governments would recognize this currency
The problem is that governments will never allow this. The currency of a country means a hell of a lot to the government. They would never let a decentralised currency overtake their own currency.

1474  Other / Off-topic / Re: 2017 Year of the Bitcoin on: October 04, 2016, 04:09:54 AM
I hope that 2017 is going to be the year of the Bitcoin because 2016 has not done much for us because most of time the price has been stable.
If this is going to be also the case in 2017 then it is going to be another boring year for Bitcoin.
It is very hard to know what is going to happen to Bitcoin, but we should just be patient and we could get rewarded. And I definitely agree with you, 2016 was definitely not the year of Bitcoin, with the price dropping at the start.
1475  Other / Off-topic / Re: Save you Bitcoin for your (grand) child / children? on: October 04, 2016, 03:57:51 AM
My children can earn their own money. I was smart enough to invest in Bitcoin and I should also be able to reap the rewards of it, and that's what I'm going to do.
1476  Economy / Speculation / Re: If bitcoin rose to $1M, what you do? on: October 04, 2016, 12:48:02 AM
I don't think that bitcoin can ever touch that price in future as it is unrealistic value to think of and no one have patience to hold their coins till it reaches to that value.
Yes it definitely is not realistic to wait for the price to reach $1M. It is probably never going to happen and you would end up wasting your time. It might even go down while you wait.
1477  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people use so many Bitcoin wallets? on: October 03, 2016, 02:36:58 AM
After almost 1 year of posting this topic and people are still spamming on it. I think I now understand why people use so many Bitcoin wallets.
1478  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 92 gigs? Wowwzers. on: October 03, 2016, 02:34:34 AM
Last time I recalled it was at like 52 or something.

Then it's been a year since the last time you looked at it. It hasn't been since late 2015.

If the blocks are all full, then the blockchain grows by about 52.6GB per year.  Empty blocks and blocks that are less than 1 MB in size occur frequently, so the actual growth over the past year has been more like 39GB.
Yeah that is about right, but I just don't see why people want to download the whole thing. If I wanted to download it, it would take a day or two seeing as the internet speeds in Australia are f*cking sh*t.
At this rate it will a terabyte by 2020 Cheesy
You better go back to year 1 and re-learn your multiplication. how does 52 times 4 equal 900? What the hell is this.
1479  Other / Off-topic / Re: How do I make money with $100 USD BTC on: October 03, 2016, 02:29:00 AM
I want to make money with my current BTC how would i go about this

with such a small amount, i would say that buying "good sh*tcoins" would be the best. find a good project and bet on it. Steem made 1000% on its launch (this is just a example, i dont see steem as a good investment now).

if you want a good idea to invest, have a look on silk network.
Well if you are going to invest into some really sh*tcoins, then it is really all about luck. You can never tell when a coin is going up or down unless they release information about them.
1480  Economy / Digital goods / Re: sell egifts and vouches on: September 11, 2016, 08:18:06 AM
So how many vouches do you have left? I would love to take one off your hands if you don't mind. I can leave a comment on this topic if it works as well.
