1481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Participation in Bitnation crowdfunding round on: November 13, 2015, 09:28:00 PM
I thought this project was dead. It is a good idea that I could get behind.

Bitnation was conceived in summer 2014, after about 10 years of background work by Susanne. The first attempt at funding in Oct 10, 2014 (coincidentally the birthday of Crypto Kingdom) was damaged heavily by internal disagreements about governance. In the end, only a meager amount of approx $20,000 was raised, and 2 formerly key people from the team left.

Their attempt to fork this open source project was however not successful, so that branch died. The original Bitnation is well alive, and has almost 300 tokenholders and a community of more than 100 active contributors. The aim of the round that is in negotiation, would be to increase both numbers, finalize the development of Pangea governance platform and move Bitnation to a whole new stage.
1482  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: November 13, 2015, 08:38:09 PM
May I ask when is the new player tutorial coming? Also when is the gameplay going to be implemented?

Approximately as follows (I am in the process of writing a more thorough post on the very subject):

The first year was our Monopoly phase. The second year (about 11 months to go) is the Civilization phase, which means that the character management is based on Civ City management, and the strategic gameplay is based on Civ gameplay.

The third year will be the Second Life phase, with a more fragmented world where people can do what they want.

The steps to ramp up the "gameplay" as you call it, will happen in about 3 months, but it should not take more than 2 weeks to be able to accept new players. We just release the modules once they are ready.

My strategic priorities right now are the following:
1) Empower the admins to know their powers, rules, and responsibilities
2) Write a "Rulebook" a 5-page document in addition to the already existing TOS, to clearly outline all the Rules that exist in the game and also the relevant TC and King decisions that are in force. This will be the basis of the Wiki and all tutorials that the others hopefully make.
3) Continue to spex the game design and assign dev priorities to get the minimum requirements of the 'factually playable game' out asap.

Does anyone have experience on Bitnation?  Smiley
1484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: November 13, 2015, 05:51:11 PM
At what point to you plan on asking Poloniex to begin trading CKG?

They actually promised to do it like 8 months ago. Then it was changed that it's "after the game is online". Now it has been online for about 1 month, but seemingly neither the Council nor Poloniex is too concerned  Grin

I believe our API allows integration if not atm, at least in 2 weeks.

There has been a huge buildup of interest to buy gold, and we still have not enabled even new player registration. It's interesting to see if the majority will just wait and see the price going up, or if they find the way to invest even during this time when it requires some imagination to do it  Wink
1485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: November 13, 2015, 05:06:55 PM
25,750 CAN has been given to all townspeople (250 each).

3,000 CIG has been given to nobles (5 CIG per each S-FOI distribution share)

80 MUS has been given to active_6h (5 MUS per every character logged in in 6 hours)

12 AYA has been given to councillors (2 per char).

At present, the item type Wisdom & Understanding is in the very end of the list, but it will be moved to the top soon.

CAN is currently going for about 12,000; CIG average about 40,000; MUS 350,000; AYA 10 mil

All profits of the initial distribution of wisdom and understanding go to Town #4 so basically we will be getting them as Gold dividends once dividing becomes possible (currently CKG is not an item, it is an item component, so ineligible to receive a dividend).
1486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: November 13, 2015, 03:36:13 PM
Due to the just incredible interest in the Substances, we need to be prudent in the initial allocation. They are durable stuff that is very much needed, and the stock levels are usually high. Many of the items are in high demand with the peasants, and it has even been rumored that the item known as IC Point is actually a yearly dose of CAN...

While these rumors remain unsubstantiated for now, the thing remains that we seek to distribute the following amounts of the substances to be the initial stock:

100,000 units of CAN
10,000 units of CIG
1,000 units of MUS
100 units of AYA (although it is strongly adviced to be consumed in the traditional collective way).

For the approx 5 days from now, these will be dumped to the market so that the new ask is always lower than the best ask. This lets the buyers compete of the goods and find the balance price.

Also, direct distribution methods will be used to give small amounts to everyone (CAN) and nobles (CIG).

If you are interested in buying in quantity, IRC is the way to do it.

Once the initial distribution is over, the substances are immediately needed in health challenge and soon in wisdom&skills module.
1487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: November 13, 2015, 02:47:26 PM
Yes, because it is not a game, it's more like a voluntary world. Nobody is responsible for getting new players to 'grasp it', at least not at present. Great opportunities for those who decide to shatter the frustration and learn it.

Speaking of which...

The substances of Wisdom and Understanding

As Health Challenge, and then many other important character-related modules, is approaching - the completion of the health consumables is probably in order.

So let us introduce Wisdom and Understanding item type, consisting of durable, consumable foods that can be used in moderation (200 units max per year) and contribute to a solid and truthful worldview, Wisdom, and health.

CAN is made of the most useful plant which grows everywhere and produces good yields. It is a mild effect and is cheap. In the new Building module, each commoner with a few extra sqm of land in his possession, can start to grow CAN and enjoy it.

CIG are imported from faraway lands. With more potency than CAN, they are also considerably more expensive.

MUS grow in forests in the countryside, as well as sometimes in the city. The preparation of them to be a safe consumable is not always easy, as knowledge about the effects has been suppressed by the Church who favor BEER (on which they have a monopoly). Getting good graded shrooms sets you back a lot but they are also pretty much mandatory to get to the higher levels of wisdom and understanding.

AYA is some weird stuff that haven't personally been able to even try yet. It is brought from distant lands and can only be properly consumed in a ceremony, so no individual consumption. It is rumored to not be very enjoyable (actually the enjoyment of these things goes down when potency goes up).

It makes sense to log in every once in a while, because we have this 6-hour script which not only Town, but many others are using as a basis for giving out freebies.

The wisdom and understanding substances are coming to the market as we speak... -----> Agora here we come!

Perhaps a shameless hijack is allowed from me this once...

I already mentioned of having had a long Bitnation crowdfunding round negotiation in Castle of Malla. Now we are moving on a little bit so it's possible to discuss about it and vote about your own feeling in a separate thread.

Getting to understand why either CK or Bitnation is so incredibly interesting and important is not easy. But they are, and there might be the opportunity soon to support the other as well as you have already successfully supported the one.

Please let's not talk more about this here though. That's why I started the other thread Smiley
1489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Participation in Bitnation crowdfunding round on: November 13, 2015, 10:44:23 AM
Hi,

Bitnation is providing governance services, and is not itself incorporated in any outside world jurisdiction, nor will be.

There is currently no Bitnation crowdfunding going on, the aim of this poll is to find out the feelings of the crypto community whether that might be a viable way to enlarge the community and crowd of supporters of Bitnation, and also to provide money for the activities.

The likely size of this type of financing opportunity, if it materializes, is between 100k-1000k USD total, and I am not officially selected to organize the round, this poll is pre-agreement.

The participant would receive XBNX tokens (ethereum platform) with the tokens having nominal voting and dividend rights but the actual power in the organization is cemented to founder Susanne Tarkowski Tempelhof with veto clauses in shareholder agreement.

I am not affiliated in Bitnation any way, don't own shares, tokens or rights, and none of my close friends even works there.

I welcome discussion and reserve the right to keep it strictly on topic by deleting conflicting posts without prior notice.

Parity Day

12. November 2015 (midsummer 1613) was the time when CKG:XMR ratio hit parity for the first time.

Gold was first sold in 17. October 2014 (1418) for 0.05 XMR. In a tad more than a year, we have managed to make it 20 times more valuable. Congratulations to all who own CKG!

I bought 1 CON directly with the game, I have a feeling its one of the best assets to own in the game currently.

compounding [interest] is the most powerful force in the universe. - attributed to A. Einstein.

Ominously recorded 101 years ago in the facade of the building, situated in the lot forever to be the most expensive piece of land traded in the history of the game: *

The Bank - The CryptoMuseum - The Garden Hotel Bank

The Hypothecary Bank of CryptoTown, Lord Baron Jacket and His Majesty The King have joined forces and developed an immense 14-quadrat area in the Grand Hotel quarter. The development faces both Culture Square and the (unnamed) Main Street.

The Bank features wide and opulent carved wood staircases, 5-9 meter room heights, The Vault with a door visible to all entrants, a first-floor $$$$ restaurant with a gilded statue at entrance and high ambitions concerning food, directors' clubroom with balcony to the Culture Square in the top floor, and 150 square-meter luxury goods store with a streetcorner Champagne bar at the ground level. Outside below the roof at 16 m elevation are two golden inscriptions. Main Street side reads "Compound Interest is the Most" and Culture Square side reads "Powerful Force in the Universe".

CKG price touched ATH today in XMR terms, with trades above 850,000. In BTC terms we are still 50% below peak, in fiat terms about 25% below.

ADD: CKG 930,000 now, and CON broke 15.0.

This is just the beginning. A supermove we last had almost a year ago, so the next one may be in the making...

Game state updated and game playable
Read carefully. It's important stuff here.

Preface

All known pending game state change issues from the years after the terrible plague (1608) until the glorious initialization of the indestructible changelog-based database logic (1613) have been entered to the system. If you have issues that need corrections, the commands are all usable, and the easiest way is to ask the counterparty of the trade to reverse it normally. If the issue is such that admin commands are required, senior admins (councillors) have access to them. We want to help as best as we can, but due to we are only learning the system and the authorization who can do what, it takes time to repair the issues and is a drain on our resources. So if at all possible, fix yours with the counterparty directly! Smiley

I am fully aware some may find the Ultima software UI not solid or reliable. There are constantly issues with the display of items balances and "items existing" for instance, and without knowing the backend, it is easy to develop an impression that the balances itself are not unambiguous. This is luckily not the case. The balances have a fully correct master record (changelog) with no dysfunction whatsoever. But all UI scripts have been needed to be updated and there is a ton of them. We are doing it lean, and skipping quadruple-checking in every thing that is unlikely to cause serious damage even if detected in the live version only (let faulty UI scripts to be detected by players). And, whenever there is an issue that endangers the actual records of the game (such as the previous DB logic), the game is mercilessly stopped and the whole logic rewritten.

Please familiarize yourself to this principle. I already said that yesterday. Understanding it is the key to retain peace of mind and understand what we are doing here.

1. We finally have an untamperable master record which by definition is correct

2. Faulty commands (in the sense of having a command that behaves faultily) cannot cause damage since their operation is detected immediately from the fully transparent log (which has already allowed us to repair all commands, and likely prevents the introduction of faulty commands in the future)

3. Unintended commands (human error causing things to happen that were not intended) can be detected by checking their results and reversed.

4. The UI is for some time still showing wrong values but these are not part of the "state of the world" and also do not affect anything practically. We get rid of them as soon as possible and fix all scripts to provide only right information.

Please, understand the above! Smiley I have spent weeks in trying to get the simple logic (used in all the similar systems I have spexed in the last 15 years) through here, but it seems it is not as self-evident and truly I have been biting nails to get the message through Cheesy

Partial list of events

Year has been set to 1613.

Existing CON have been given dividends until 1613.

Current CON auction will close in 6pm, about 6.5 hours

Situation (while market stands at 13.6/13.2):

160 @ 13.0 King
200 @ 12.5 King
50 @ 12.5 NF
100 @ 12.5 FS
82 @ 12.1 Roopatra/?
200 @ 12.0 King
50 @ 12.0 Crichton
200 @ 11.5 King
-------------------------
760 will be issued at 12.0 to the ones highest on the list

Wine and TS silver coins ordered have been credited. If not enough IC was found, the order was cancelled.

Stone is not yet credited to NewReconstructionCorp.

Companies have needed to pay the minimum annual cost if they had long-term employees.

New gold and silver coins are on the market. We are pricing the bulk of the coins only <1 mil above spot, and they are really rare (15-46 minted each). Check them out.

No land and extra taxes are paid from years 1608 onwards, but they accrue as tax liability, which will be collected as soon as possible.

Commands are available to use.

W1611 and W1612 wines exist and may now be converted out of IC as follows:

Sign in, Go to Agora Marketplace and scroll down to find Category="IC Point". In the listing, click "IC Point" and observe your balance.

If you want to buy W1611, which is now in the market, you can spend IC towards it with a command:
CONSUME IC amount , where amount is the number of IC you want to spend.
1 IC => 6 bottles of this very promising wine. (To keep the confusion at maximum, this time even the town duty is included so only IC is paid!)

We will announce when the offer ends in this thread, after which please do not consume IC as it is not anymore linked to the creation of W1611.

Wine will be credited when the offer ends, I'd say less than a day..

Development priorities have again been redirected to allow the bugreporting/featurerequest/prioritization module to come online before other new modules are worked on. We need community feedback on the UI issues -  which of them are most annoying or even a cause to believe that the game is fragile (which it isn't) ? We need to work on those issues before it is very smart to invest heavily on marketing.

Lavish gifts have been given to all the active players, including 2 gold coins courtesy to Coinshop, GIN courtesy to Town, etc. There is now an admin module Active Players, which allows gifting based on activity in the Ultima platform.
1497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom Ultima Version Development Thread on: November 10, 2015, 08:36:04 AM
I noticed that now when you place ask orders, the appropriate item quantity is reduced from your "available balance". This is awesome!

Is it being considered to also do this with Moneretos on the bid side?

Otherwise someone can place many fake bids that will not execute if they don't have the available moneretos.

Yes, we thought that it might be useful to see both (after some detour of only showing the "available", causing more trouble than good really Wink )

There is currently no intention to do it with the bid side. Reasons:

- Many people/corps in business want to offer buy liquidity for multiple items. It would not be possible if 100% reserve was required. This would destroy the bidside liquidity - the value of non-M items (stuff) in the characters' accounts is 35x the value of M items (money). An obvious mismatch that can be easily remedied by doing what we are doing.

- 100% reserve when placing bids has never been the custom with any reputable financial institution. Even I have used stockbrokers who had this mode of operation prior to the online era starting in late 1990s. The usual reason why online stockbrokers incl. crypto exchanges really want 100%+100% reserve is more sinister than cares to be mentioned. We don't want to even allow ourself the option to do such things and want to have as little customer depository balances (XMR) as possible.

- The practical result of hitting zero funds is that the trade just does not happen, which will be noticeable to the seller, and not cause him any more difficulty than lost opportunity that would never have been there to begin with. A trade cannot make you go negative. Admin command TRANSFER only can make you go negative (and only in M).

=> I will change the policy when it needs changing but going to fully covered bids is so far from rational here that it is unlikely it will happen. Other things that actually improve the system are planned.
1498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency - 0.8.8.6 on: November 09, 2015, 09:25:31 PM
...

If you want to outbid me you have to offer him better than 300USD in mark-to-market XMR priced at acceptance, all-inclusive, shipped to USA, with escrow.

Curiously, XMR is showing signs of potentially becoming a pre-eminent currency of creative patronage....?

Darn, I was negotiating with him on it as well (shipping options). Seems that we have a real piece of history here!  Grin
1499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: November 09, 2015, 06:08:29 PM
As he had done a few times before, Mooo decided to ship the bottles once more. And this time, breaking the spell, Mooo loaded them on his carriage, drove to saddam's townhouse, and delivered the bottles. Never before had a wine delivery felt so liberating.

The game is on again.

Technically it was never off. You could log in all the time, it was just that all the commands were disabled except for admins.

They did not even work that badly. The problem was that no authoritative way of monitoring the actual changes of the commands was possible. UI and logs were composed of scripts that might or might not display the true state of the system.

And that was of course fully permissible for a game, but not for a game that intends to be more reliable than the existing financial institutions.

So the changelog was implemented, and will be public for everyone, in the main menu. The point is that if you do something, you see exactly the master change that it has caused. All other UI changes should of course be correct, but may not be for a reason or another. As long as the command is rightly recorded in the changelog, it is part of the state of the world. If not, it is not. And transparency for all.

Existing items balances were simply transferred to changelog entries.

If there are any issues with commands or user interface, do the following:

- Always check from the changelog whether the issue is with the command or the UI (no entry in changelog, or wrong entry => problem with command;  right entry in changelog but no effect or wrong effect in UI => problem with a UI script).

- Report the issue. It will be fixed and typically soon. There are many such things fixed already today. They are tedious but not critical.

Changelog is the master data. UI is the representation of the data / frontend for changing it. We will never have several changelogs, any more than Monero have several blockchains. We will soon have many UI, as Monero also has many wallets (GUI and cli).

Hi, I see a certain dormancy has developed during the pause. I also don't like the pause.

Hope you like GIN. Cause that will be given by cartloads to all the players who log in to the game in the nearest 6 hours, or maybe even a longer period if the newworlders feel their timezone is mistreated..

For the slow, GIN will be available as long as stocks last, at an affordable price of 200,000 m. Don't miss your chance to stock up on the indestructible delicious healthy collectible, first-gin-in-the-game: GIN !

ADD: And let's throw in a bonus case of GIN for the first few thread posters with inspirational content as well. Or two if they also buy CONsols.

CONsols auction is here, I will bid as follows (amount includes the whole wm empire):

160 @ 13.0
200 @ 12.5
200 @ 12.0
200 @ 11.5

When in the coming years people marvel the wealth of the Royal House, especially the gold and the consols, and ask: 'How did the King get so much gold?', the answer is: 'It was premined to him for starting the game and getting it developed.' Then they ask: 'And the consols?', for which the answer is: 'He bought them, meticulously, every time they were available, with his own money, over all the years, no matter if the others were interested or not.'
