As you are in the united states of america, it should be simpler for you to just give a call to the postal company and ask for clarification (instead of just saying that you are sure). As far as I understand, they could be kept there forever, if no one reacts.

fyi, that does not work....no way in hell can you call those guys and get info...

14823  Other / Politics & Society / Re: U.S. Postal Service Logging All Mail for Law Enforcement on: July 05, 2013, 01:26:01 PM
From the New York Times, "U.S. Postal Service Logging All Mail for Law Enforcement":

Quote from: Ron Nixon
The Mail Isolation Control and Tracking program was created after the anthrax attacks in late 2001 that killed five people, including two postal workers. Highly secret, it seeped into public view last month when the F.B.I. cited it in its investigation of ricin-laced letters sent to President Obama and Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg. It enables the Postal Service to retrace the path of mail at the request of law enforcement. No one disputes that it is sweeping.

“In the past, mail covers were used when you had a reason to suspect someone of a crime,” said Mark D. Rasch, who started a computer crimes unit in the fraud section of the criminal division of the Justice Department and worked on several fraud cases using mail covers. “Now it seems to be, ‘Let’s record everyone’s mail so in the future we might go back and see who you were communicating with.’ Essentially you’ve added mail covers on millions of Americans.”
I am having some trouble seeing the problem with this.  What is US Mail being used for anyway?  Less each year.  Although they are trying to stay alive by underpricing vs FE and UPS in package delivery.

So then, they are implementing tracking control - poorly - that FE and UPS had all along?

LMAO...you're really so galactically stupid to believe that this:
....

took off from the moon and had enough fuel to travel 200K+ miles back to earth using 1960s technology? How do you survive day to day being such an idiot? Do people spoon food in your mouth for you?

For a start, you can simply look at the specifications of the thrusters and the propellant, as well as the vehicle mass fractions.  Then use the equations ....

Quite a few high school students could answer your question, using math and a piece of paper, and a calculator with a log function....

As an aside, the rocks they brought back prove they went to the Moon beyond a doubt.  But that takes some understanding of geology to explain and understand...

so you're an idiot, and you use logical fallacy to "prove" your arguments. Here, read these:
...

For extra credit, figure out which ones you just used. So exactly how much fuel do you think that completely unrealistic spaceship with rippled poster board siding and christmas wrapping heat/radiation protection required to get back to earth?

Seriously, you really see that at a plausible craft capable of traveling 500,000 miles through space? How old are you? Here's a better link:
....

Now really look at that. Try to take off your American Exceptionalism blinders and use those dormant frontal lobes of yours and ask yourself if that is a credible spacecraft.

Here are the relevant characteristics.  A 3500 lbf thrust rocket motor you can pick up with one hand.  That was used to place the ascent module in low lunar orbit, then the orbiting unit made the return to Earth.  As you can see, fuel for the ascent stage was about half the weight of the unit.

Mass including fuel: 10,300 lb (4,700 kg)
APS thrust: 3,500 lbf (16,000 N)
APS propellants: Aerozine 50 fuel / nitrogen tetroxide oxidizer
APS specific impulse: 311 s (3,050 N·s/kg)
APS delta-V: 7,280 ft/s (2,220 m/s)
Thrust-to-weight ratio at liftoff: 2.124 (in lunar gravity)

These methods have been well understood for over a century.
total change in velocity = specific impulse * ln(takeoff mass/final empty mass)

Let me repeat something you may have missed:  Modern radar mapping has shown us these landing sites, and has resolved the equipment left there, the vehicle tracks, and even the footprints of these men in the surface powder. (starts at 2:50 or so)

Previously I noted Ayn Rand's comments immediately after the Apollo 11 launch.

Ayn Rand, from the launchpad of Apollo 11, wrote this about the 'doubters'.  She talks about the doubters, and the skeptics...You see, they were definitely around then, just as now.

Oh, final thing, actual operational spacecraft don't tend to look pretty or elegant.  And yes, I have worked in this field and made a small contribution.

I think assault rifles are only "scarier-looking" rifles that perform equally as well.

This.  The fact that there is even a debate on a made up term like "assault weapons" means the statists who made the term up already won.

It would be like banning certain car paint colors, spoilers, and tires in an attempt to reduce traffic fatalities.  The "assault vehicle ban of 2013".  Won't someone think of the children.  Nobody needs to drive a military vehicle on public highways.  etc. etc.

http://www.renewamerica.com/columns/williams/130111

and oh, by the way.....banning assault weapons, that was certainly part of the...

"hope and change"
"yes we can"

mindset of dwarf elitists standing...
on the shoulders of midget intellects....
on top of a pile of democratic statist bullshit....

as a strong opponent of gun control i agree with your assessment. more guns in the united states will probably not reduce private crime but then that's not the point of the second amendment now is it.

14827  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Assault weapon bans on: July 05, 2013, 02:39:50 AM
What do you think should be done about assault weapons? Do you support them or not?

NOW that's an important question....   Should a large majority of people, who have hired some enforcers who carry assault weapons, require themselves to not have assault weapons, given that a large number of them already do have said assault weapons?

Can the enforcers with the assault weapons be reasonably controlled by the majority as is with their percentage of weaponry?

Can the enforcers with the assault weapons be reasonably controlled by the majority if and when the enforcers pry the last assault weapon from the cold dead fingers of members of the majority who had their own?

Just think of how nice the world would be, after the enforcers take the assault rifles from the BAD PEOPLE who have the assault rifles.  They are BAD because they have assault rifles.  This is an important job to take them away.  Plus don't forget they may have ASSAULT pistols.  They might have a cache deep under their floor full of ASSAULT beer or ASSAULT bacon or Dog forbid, assault knives.  These are all certainly within the scope of the banning of "assault weapons" as everyone knows, water pistols and toy cap guns qualify too because in the mind of the child, they are vicariously playing with ASSAULT WEAPONS.

Not only that but Virtual Assault Weapons exist, such as macros that embed in keyboards and rapid fire a succession of characters into the Internet tubes.

And don't forget the Bitcoin Assault Weapons From Beyond Reasonable Reason; which have an array of Force rapid firing computational giga hashes.....  far greater amounts than any reasonable person would need to protect himself.

Only government should have rapid auto hash capability any individual citizen subject should be restricted to one hash per keystroke and a maximum of five per day.  Then we can proceed to Ensure Public Safety.

Next we plan to regulate the foot as and when it is a rapid fire Assault Weapon.  Walking is of course reasonable, but running should be limited to a maximum of six steps, sufficient for any Subject to avoid an on rushing car.

The work yet to be done is vast, my friend, and I am sure you will do your part to help.   Do not doubt that we shall call on you to help from time to time, as your reports to Central Control have proven very helpful in the past.  If you keep it up, and continue to point out the Unpatriotic and Dangerous, you will be well rewarded.  If you make your quota of Reports on the Enemies you will be allowed a part share in the Bacon, taken from all of the evil ones before they were locked away.  Be sure to Report them before they do anything bad, only when they have that suspicious look to them.  Your inner and well trained sense will tell you; listen to it well.

Be vigilant, Komrade!

Propaganda in the US media is apparently an open secret.  Bill Clinton, in his autobiography, recounts a conversation with an old-timer around the time of the moon landings:
Quote
Just a month before, Apollo 11 astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong had left their colleague, Michael Collins, aboard spaceship Columbia and walked on the Moon...The old carpenter asked me if I really believed it happened. I said sure, I saw it on television. He disagreed; he said that he didn't believe it for a minute, that 'them television fellers' could make things look real that weren't. Back then, I thought he was a crank. During my eight years in Washington, I saw some things on TV that made me wonder if he wasn't ahead of his time.

Of course now, we have outstanding Lunar Recon Orbitor/LOLA 3d moon datasets.  We've mapped that whole damn moon down to a half meter, and those Apollo guys footprints and equipment are clearly visible.  You or I can download that entire planetary database to our PC and run it (of course we'd need some of the very best graphics cards, but who in the bitcoin community doesn't have THOSE...LOL)

So to answer your/Clintons/old fellow's fear and mythological superstition...

If we set our minds to it, we can do things...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjkPeexEdyI

Yeah, your 'old carpender' was a fool, let's take a look at someone else's comments from that era.

Now, who you gonna believe...Old carpender....Ayn Rand....Bill Clinton....

LOL...

The real PsyOps was the use of NASA as a propaganda crutch to show the awesome capabilities of the USA in advanced technologies, long after the brilliance and capabilities were destroyed by leftist bandits intent on stealing the tax dollars for short term gains....

Any plans for mounts/frames to put these inside an existing computer cabinet?

Something like this for the klondike:

I think a user is devoloping this idea, with this the problem is the height with heatsink is 4,7 to 5 cm. I think a 3'5" Hd has a height of 2'5cm.

Is this group buy now open or closed?

14834  Other / Politics & Society / Re: PRISM - Who else is disgusted by this? on: July 03, 2013, 04:13:02 PM
A large part of the answer has to do with how the media has presented or ignored it.
The U.S. national media (TV networks, NYTimes, etc.) have pretty much focused on the plight of Snowden and ignored their duty to follow up on Snowden's allegations.  They report what Snowden has said, but have done little investigative journalism of their own to invalidate, confirm, or expand on Snowden's words.  The few stories that have come out since (google, facebook, etc. helping NSA) were dumped in their laps.  I think they would liked to have buried the whole affair but couldn't because it was getting so much attention from non-U.S. media.  They are so used to "reporting" to sway public perception and opinion against this type of thing.  Now they have a situation where public opinion is already firmly outraged about it, but they don't want to fan the flames because it looks really bad for Obama and they have so much invested in him.

Sometimes I wonder how much of this sort of developing process is the result of the following type of emerging reality:

A)  NSA/CIA Guy:  "I want to have a cool nice job in an air conditioned building staring at a computer screen.  My gosh - WAY BELOW ME to be out on the streets in a hostile country, in a disguise, handing money over for dirty work, late at night."

B)  REPORTER:  "I want to scrape stories from the Internet, from Twitter and stuff like that.  The AP and Reuters and head office sends most of the stuff to me anyway.  It's an easy, fun life.  What?  Me go out and dig stories up?  Talk to people?  Research?  Hey, no way...that's like hard, man."

C)  ....

You get the idea.  I don't have to continue with University Prof, Average Consumer, etc.
14835  Other / Politics & Society / Re: PRISM - Who else is disgusted by this? on: July 03, 2013, 02:32:22 PM
I am just surprised how easy it is for them to get away with this.  Half the public even defends the NSA.... because of course, the smartest, largest terror operations use a facebook/skype/gmail/mainstream solution, gotta update your status before blowing up a building.....

Its really sad to see about 90 percent of the population truly do not give a shit.

Yeah, true story. I mean this is the greatest spy attac in history but it seems that nobody gives a shit about it! I mean how can you just ignore something?

14838  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is BTC not used in Games? on: July 01, 2013, 10:34:30 PM
Probably because not many massive games have started being developed during the last 4 years since Bitcoin, such that the developers can sustain costs with this income.
But this could be done right now, in many cases.

For example, take COD Black Ops Zombie, original Kino.

0.25BTC to play, four players, last one standing wins the pot.

Yes, I know you meant built into the point system of the game, but there are other ways.
14839  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Pension Crisis on: July 01, 2013, 11:49:30 AM
Pension scheme used to be good, the workers worked their lives for it.   It is the politicians who decided to abuse the pension funds and cause the problems that we have today.
No pension scheme could withstand the simultaneous loss of real value in a nation's currency while government policy kept interest rates near zero.   Most pension funds have been capitalized to be solvent with an expected rate of return of something like 8%.

Well, 8% ain't gonna happen.

Now, I think the problem is that this is very easy to understand, and all those people out there expecting to get pensions in a few years or a decade or two refuse to see it or understand it.  Granted, they are "locked into a system".  Typically, within the employment benefits package the employee is only given certain options.

Those restrictions date from another time and place in their risk assessment.  Now rather than protect they injure.

Oh and predicted to fall in 2013. The fact is, yes we will most likely fall. Doesn't mean it's going to be soon.

We are a bunch of frustrated people that are upset that it didn't happen yet.
We need to let out steam somewhere.

What DIDN'T HAPPEN YET?

Take a bunch of economic crises and look at how they played out.

Zimbabwe, Weimer Republic, Spain mid 1950s, Argentina (numerous), Brazil, Cyrpus, Iceland.

So we're going to have some more?  Some bigger ones?  So WHAT?
