Great way to start my day. Now I have to check the weather and decide what's going to be left running today. Thank you as always everyone!

Wow great timing it's just about dusk and time to power up again! Thank you everyone!

it is not about better gear right now

the game is cheap power as gear has flooded the market.

Depends on what you have as prices are so low. If I didn't upgrade I'd have a bunch of s7's turned off for a while now and even with the business rate (waiting for my first bill) probably would have turned them off or most. But I won't argue cheaper power makes any asic viable and mining accessible as 1th/s for $25 is really good with a great power rate. Strong bull market makes it even better.

I really hope I can get my exhaust upgraded and get a couple more before market surges and prices go back up. Worse case I have the s7's to power on again. Really excited though to see how the year plays out. Also glad I found a great pool. Even before mfb hired me I was struggling with other pools for a while. Leaving just the s9 on today through he heat, maybe I can kick on the avalons. Couple more hours to peak temp here in Portland. We'll see.

I appreciate the insight but the argument isn't they can't, but why they don't. Ease, profits, turn to market. Or is there more I'm missing?

I was just trying to bait CG as it seemed they were in playful mood considering the lack the block atm.

Maybe the movement in the candles, or maybe it's not so hot there today.

Not unless you want to differentiate from each worker. Might be good for troubleshooting or clocking.

No T9 or s9i at these prices huh?

Priced out the build, can defiantly save on the fan and hopefully other items. Thoughts? Only concern was ensuring intake, any others? or other suggestions? I just want to do one duct register in the ceiling, so would 3k CFM removal be overkill for a small farm of 8 asics on a 100F day? Bout as hot as it would typically get through a few summer days here.

So you're saying a hash isn't always equal to a hash? Wink
1509  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: GMO miner B2: 7NM mining within reach? on: July 17, 2018, 03:57:53 PM
Only advantage is in the way of using manufacturing already in place. If you mimic you can turn units quickly since you don't have to retool a factory especially if you own your own facility (turn time is even more accelerated).

Canaan is a great example of design intuitiveness. Still though the concept is the same, just more thought into delivering a better product (my personal opinion) with subtle but effective changes. As a buyer you're rewarded with it. If you're following my post on heat here lately I am less nervous about my avalons then my antminers. Would love a T1 but with prices probably looking at other units.

Back to the b2/3 concept, if you're facilities cooling is on point it doesn't matter. Stuff the jar, suck the power (if it's cheap), mine blocks. These things aren't made for me and mining at home.

Then any miner wants a solid combination of hash and efficiencies. My point is that GMO is taking this model to the extreme. I hope companies pick up on this and look to adjust in a better direction like we're all saying in different ways. Better efficiencies, cooling design, and voltage control.

I don't need a miner that looks like Arnold would have over his shoulder ready to fire from a helicopter.

Just stick them in a window, exhaust pointing out. 100% dump heat outside and if you run AC inside you should be good.

I do this with 6 old Titans, works fine.

I would if my neighbors house wasn't so close to the garage and all their window seem to be on the that same side. So the venting into attic is best alternative. I would vent straight out the through the roof but it's new and don't want to fuck with it since it rains most the year here. I don't want four units running in the house either.

To recap: build will work, not much difference from DYI from the premade unit. Ensure air flow and we're golden?

Profits are a huge motivator, that's why it would be a bold move to break the norm and why other people conform to meet the expectation. In a sense at this point to deliver anything else to market would be "rebellious" even as we agree completely, that it would only make sense to do so to deliver a quality product.

Nice, I have that one in the house gable already and their 1300 above the garage where the current farm exhaust exits. I can really only support four more units, so eight total till i'm out grown. 3k CFM removal should be plenty with in door vents and/or garage door up some correct? Might as well fit for max capacity since I need to upgrade it anyway. What CFM should I hit with 8 asics? min would be around 1600 I assume? So 3k if able to adjust would be great in the summer?

Found the perfect gift. What do you all think? #blocklove

1514  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: GMO miner B2: 7NM mining within reach? on: July 16, 2018, 05:55:08 PM
Ok, so my original thought was correct about the b3 fans?

Aren't these rated at higher wattage than 2k? You'll at least have voltage "control" in the UI to bring it down to b2 spec. Still "vaporware" till we're closer to release date. Way to early GMO, you've already changed your design in a few months. Maybe soon they'll figure out a third model that has the speed with efficiencies we want to see by Oct.

@sidehack: I imagine your question is rhetorical but for the sake of discourse.  ..

Retooling can be costly so I imagine design is centered to manufacturing, look at Obilisk for example. It will be hard to break the narrow tube design, packing heat sinks in a jar like they're cotton balls. Maybe someone will be bold and change the game for the industry.

Our hydrangea's are looking a little dusty here. Although my new pot plant is taking well, bout to harvest one that has a nitrogen deficiency before it hermaphrodites.

It's also the wife and I's second year anny today. Maybe a block as a gift would be a nice present?

Hi personal post here.

I'm a small home miner and wanted to increase capacity and not have neighbors kill me. So exhausting through garage wall directly isn't an option. I have decent removal but want add more units and will need to increase exhausting. Been looking at whole house fans to install above miners but the cost is pretty high. These look simple to construct from high CFM gable fan, ceiling register with flex duct, and of course mounting braces from rafters. Should be able to save quite a bit with DYI, just want to make sure I'm not missing any critical differences from a pre-constructed whole house fan to building one as described. Thanks.

We did crush it for a while, but a dry spell indeed.

edit for inspirational video.

Sad to hear, hope you're back soon! I'll have to shutdown tomorrow. Not working from home and 100F weather.

Since I want to exhaust into attic to save on sound for neighbors fans go in the ceiling. and I'll let my gable fan do its job in the attic above.

So dropped, to -2 as well. but prior to that temps went down to 39/87 now 39/84. No going to try and limp to our next block.

So I dropped down to two Avalons. Watching temps. Thinking I can sustain through the heat with my exhaust as is with these on. Temps read 87C exit, 40C intake atm.
