For me it's enough if Nxt doesn't die before I release Qubic. Then (if Nxt community doesn't mind) all Nxt coins, assets and other stuff could be transferred to Qubic. Qubic is planned to be released in 2016 when we (Jinn Labs) complete development of its hardware backbone.

Is there a way I can make BTC unspendable in the next 5 years? I know it's "programmable money," but can I do this outside of a 3rd party app?
I can keep my BTC in cold storage, but the temptation will always be there to take it out of the safe and spend it. What's the best way to store it for a given amount of time if you don't trust yourself?

The beauty of open source projects is that anyone can participate in taking the project to the next level, not only btcdrak & co. It was not Satoshi who made bitcoin happen - he just layed the groundwork, other people continued and built on top of the foundation.
Via needs something like that exactly. But so far, there's nothing. So we can't really blame the people who invested in this project for getting mad because via isn't really going anywhere. People invested their hard earned money in this. And the only thing that makes this project look good right now is Peter Todd being on board. So imagine if he left... Confidence in this project would plummet faster than it is now. Yes, this is exactly what VIA needs. Viacoin has a bunch of features which can't be found on other blockchains, VIA needs people who are willing to experiment with these features, VIA needs people to build on top of ClearingHouse and VIA blockchain. However, it is not drak's responsibility to 'recruit' people to do this. Drak (along with Todd, etc.), is a developer laying the basis on which others can build applications. We can't really blame Gavin Andresen either, when bitcoin is tanking.  Yes. But so far there's nothing.  That's the whole point. |

Yeah, before fixating on huge prices in the future, the first question should be along the lines of "when will Bitcoin stop falling?"
it's not falling anymore, we are at 230 rock solid, we didn't fall back to 180, it just that we retuned to a previous value, i dom't want to call this a fall we are at 230 for two months now I will not bet on it. Its at a balance point, but I feel the probability of an upside is less than a fall. Very difficult to say at this point but do not take this staying above 230 for now as a bullish sign. well what you say it could be true, but i'm confident that we are aiming high now or we are just stuck there at 230, i'm fairly sure that it won't fall back under 200 anymorei'm starting to think that we need the block halving to have some breath We'll see. But it doesn't matter what you think will happen because there's a huge chance you can be wrong, no one can predict the market. The more important thing is knowing what to do when the price reaches a certain level. Who cares what you think. Just plan ahead. |

No, he did not. He mined over 900k btc and vanished. That's a story for another time though. :^) I can't think of any legitimate reason for "investors" to demand any personal info on viacoin developers. It's pointless in my opinion. What would an "investor" benefit from knowing this info? Also, using the term investor in this context is a bit funny, since the presale was in fact... just a presale - a different method of distribution compared to mining from genesis block onward. @ tokeweed: You are allowed to ask and I am allowed to express my views on the topic. I do not care who Satoshi is, it has no significance on bitcoin and blockchain technology. I can understand why some people do care about this stuff though, but it's all a bit silly imo.
