We had a newbie jail once, I had to go through it in order to be allowed to post elsewhere. It didnt improve things, scammers just waited the ~28 days or bought cheap Jr. accounts. On the other hand though the "beginners and help" section was very confusing. On top of that I think it caused more work for moderators as users asked to be whitelisted in order to get out of the jail early. Preventing scams should not be a moderation issue, it should happen at the user level. If a newbie asks for a high amount of coins without collateral you can be polite and explain them why you are not that stupid or just ignore them.

Darauf Hinweisen das die 21 Million BTC Grenze leicht änderbar ist, wenn eine massive Mehrheit der Nutzer, Entwickler, Miner etc. das will, ist ja nicht polarisierend. |

It seems like a lot of work for nothing.
So unless someone really has a vendetta against a specific node operator, or really hates the idea of Bitcoin, I can't see why anyone would waste their time trying to attack nodes.
Not sure, its not even enough to hurt my node. They dont cause high amount of traffic and they dont have enough IP addresses to fill all connection slots. My best guess right now is "because they can" and it costs nothing. They use bitcoinj based wallets so they should be able to run it 24/7 on free amazon servers without hitting limits. |

It would be nice getting a regular (e.g. monthly) dump of the top 50 (or even 100) reporters.
Might also be an incentive for some of the less-active reporters to step up their game.
I and others asked for updates every now and then, Im not sure they will happen regularly. I think it could be automated, so maybe there is another reason why theymos does not want it. |

Which wallet do you use? Most wallets should have a pay to many function. Electrum has, Multibit HD has and neither require you to download the blockchain. |

The hacker was using the stolen DB from the hack last year. He is stupid enough to leave a lot of information about himself so it is fairly easy to confirm when he actually hacked an account (plus the fact that an account's PW was not changed since the hack.
The hacker isn't even using a VPN, and most likely purchased the DB fairly recently. He is nothing more then a script kiddy.
Is that known? I still have to catch up on recent events (yes even things months ago). I wonder what the database costs and howmuch rockyou.txt[2] with good rules can get out of it. I would assume a large portion was breached quickly after the attack. Robert only recently started hacking forum accounts, and trolling/scamming with them somewhat recently, so it is possible that he only recently figured out how to check for passwords from the hashes of the passwords. However the amounts that he is stealing from others is low enough to suggest that he purchased the DB recently (from what I have been told, the value of DBs declines over time, especially after it has been known that the DB has leaked). I am not sure how much the leaked DB is worth, however I have been told that someone found the DB for sale on a DNM a few months after the hack for 100 BTC by a seller with a lot of reputation on that DNM. I visited that DNM recently, and it appears that the DB is no longer listed for sale there; I am also not sure that the particular DNM in question is not an outright scam (it is listed on Deep Dot Web). Dein Account hier ist nichts wert (Du riskierst also nichts), die Homepage sieht schnell zusammengeklickt aus und deine "reviews" auf gutefrage überzeugen mich persönlich auch nicht. Es gibt hier ausreichend alternativen. User die nachweislich große und viele Deals unterstützt haben. Dazu gibt es noch Methoden (siehe oben) bei denen es überhaupt nicht möglich ist für den Treuhändler mit den Bitcoin abzuhauen. Ich denke nicht das du nächsten Monat hier überhaupt noch aktiv bist. |

# Dein Umgang mit potentiellen Kunden ist aggressiv oder mindestens flapsig. Wenn Du mich angehst weil ich mich nicht anständig informiert habe zeigst du damit mehr über dich als über mich. Maybe this is more practical. A table only, remove the detailed part. It takes the most time when doing updates and I personally think that its least used. Not sure when Mitchell will be back to read it, just a suggestion.

Natürlich ist das meine persönliche Meinung, wir sind hier in einem Forum. Alles hier ist persönliche Meinung. Den Treuhand Service hab ich in der Tat übersehen. Kann am Design (kein JavaScript) liegen oder an mir. Wenn es bei euch üblich ist bei so Kleinigkeiten gleich auf den Beileidigungs-Modus zu schalten dann sollte man in der Tat einen großen Bogen um euch machen. Kein Mensch interessiert sich für dein Anonyme Domain- und Serverstandort-Gelaber. Es ist allen egal wie du es gerne hättest! (außer Finanzamt und Bafin versteht sich) Das Strafmaß für solche Geschäfte ohne Bafin Lizenz liegt gerade in deinem Deutschland bei ca 3-7 Jahre Knast, du Schüler!

I do not believe someone who has hacked accounts and scammed people would be bold enough to say that publicly, at the risk of getting a permanent ban.
Banned on what grounds? Its not against the rules to scam someone. Hacking, maybe? Although the rule is not written anywhere I doubt it is allowed. Hacking the forum is actually allowed (as long as you follow some guidelines) and might even get you rewarded. Hacking a user account, e.g. through phishing isnt punished AFAIK. The hacked user may not get the account back, because its unclear who the original owner is. This kind of justification is sad and clearly shows a lack of desire for truth in you, or a rebellion to need to try to attempt to bend the truth to suit your will. You are funny. The forum having a reward system for hacks[1] is a good thing, because it gives those smart enough to actually find and exploit a bug to report it to theymos and not sell it to someone else. I dont know why you think an account should be restored without proper proof or what that has to do with my desires for "truth". Whos truth are you talking about anyway?

Wie kann ich sicher gehen, dass ich nicht übers Ohr gehauen werde? Gibt es so etwas wie ein Treuhandsystem, dass die Zahlung erst veranlasst, wenn die Dienstleistung erbracht wurde?

Hi guys, thanks for your replies and shown interest in my problem. I do actually agree, this is the way it works and its the way it should work. I guess it is easier for me to be less resentful against it all now that I FOUND MY PASSWORD!!!!! I knew I had written it down on a piece of paper and yesterday I found it! I feel very lucky now! Is it possible to transfer the money to a bankaccount and in that way get it back as "real" money? And if so how do I do that? I am new with this.
Well, bitcoin is real money. You think of it as money from a different country. Just one you cant visit physically. If you prefer a different currency right now you can sell your bitcoin to someone else. Say I would like to transfer them onto another bankaccount other than my own bankaccount wich I got the money from in the first place.
This will not be possible with major exchanges due to AML/KYC laws they have to follow. In a person to person deal I dont think it would make a difference where they send the fiat money to. You just need a way to check the balance to make sure you got paid. Maybe its easier to exchange for cash first and deposit to the other bank account? Right now i am earning close to 0.01btc per weak with my signature campaign but i just dont know what to do with them.
Invest. I want to grow them and reach a good amount of btc but only collecting will take a long time to reach a good amount.So i start to gamble with them and till now since 3-4 weaks i have lost all my signature campaing earnings.I win at the start but i become greedy and gamble more and then lost them.
So i decided not to gamble with them can any one tell me what are the other options which i can do with my earnings.
Look into possible investments (maybe even online casinos?). Consider lending to other users, this works with small amounts, but make sure you have collateral. Most loans take here are used for gambling even if they tell you otherwise. Stay away from ponzis and other doubles and a large majority of "cloud mining" investments. I know this is vague, but I stopped all my investments a while ago so I dont have concrete advice. |

Thanks for helping out. Just a small nitpick the PNYC text should be in yellow. Maybe this is more practical. A table only, remove the detailed part. It takes the most time when doing updates and I personally think that its least used. Not sure when Mitchell will be back to read it, just a suggestion. @mexxer/lutpin I literally read this thread the last time 5 pages ago and skipped 4 of them now. My watchlist has 54 pages of unread posts (>2000 posts), so yeah I got loads of catching up to do and I may not be able to with the time I have. |

Running a node on a virtual server would definitely be better than running it on your Desktop.
But it depends if you need to have a server with the entire blockchain.
Is 32GB of storage enough?
I would be interested in someone who runs a node to post their specs as far as storage space, network usage, etc.

I do not believe someone who has hacked accounts and scammed people would be bold enough to say that publicly, at the risk of getting a permanent ban.
Banned on what grounds? Its not against the rules to scam someone. You make it sounds as if scamming is a good thing to do. Im sorry you think so. Hacked accounts are getting banned though.
I have been reporting hacked accounts and a staff member(not mentioning names) has banned the accounts.
If there is no rule for it, staff members should decide by themselves what is needed to do.
I doubt that an account gets banned just for "its hacked". Three accounts that were hacked by robertt were banned, I don't know if they still are banned. I could provide you proof if you want, since I still have the PM from the staff member. I think the ban was deserves since robertt was going full delusional. All Im saying is that there is very likely more to it. Otherwise its too easy to get someone banned when no one was actually hacked. Admins (and maybe globals now as well?) also have additional information that might help them decide (like e.g. IP addresses). |

That depends. IIRC some hacked accounts have been banned ( once the original owner has provided sufficient proof) by staff to prevent their misuse. I somewhat doubt this is the case with some of these accounts however, since I remember seeing some of then didn't have a staked address. In which case its just one step in the restoring process and the account is not actually "banned", but rather "locked". |
