1543  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [REVIEW] AVALON 4 1000GH/s@694W on: January 28, 2015, 04:01:22 PM
I read this can do 820gh and 400 watts.  Or maybe it was 800gh and 420watts.

An underclock would be nice to test.
The evga 1300 g2 should do 90 or 91% at 690 watt level.

see review below

http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story3&reid=349

K-watt meters can be + or - 5%

 I have 2 meters 1 of them reads 20 or 30 watts higher at 1000 watts then the other .

Thanks philipma1957 for the clarification on the meter.

I will also try the underclock.  Grin
1544  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [REVIEW] AVALON 4 1000GH/s@694W on: January 28, 2015, 01:04:13 PM
Thanks for the review.

What PSU was used? Would like to know how efficient it is.

Its a EVGA 1300

0,7 watt/Gh is not good unless you had free power. I wonder if you able to downclock the miner & see the efficiency.

I changed the voltage of the chip to 8000. It gave me better hashrate and lower watt. I will post a picture of the wattmeter tonight.  Grin

1550  Bitcoin / Hardware / [REVIEW] AVALON 4 1000GH/s@694W on: January 28, 2015, 01:47:29 AM
This is my first official review. I have not been paid for it. I made it to help people make a better choice.

Chips = 40x 28nm Avalon 4 A2322
Hashrate = 1000GH
Power Consumption = ~690W

- This is after 1h

There is a nice thick foam to protect each side.

All parts are wrapped.

They send 2 connectors. To be able to connect multiple Avalon together.

Avalon 4 VS S5 Size

And now the web platform!

Clean and easy to use. I got a steady 1Th without any problem.

The sound is awesome. One thing that I really didn't like on the S5 was the sound. The Avalon4 do almost no sound. The fan run between 1600 to 4000 but even at 4000 the sound is not a problem. I guess for a home miner, the Avalon4 could be a better miner for the sound.

With the S5 you needed 2 fans to drop the sound. With the Avalon 4, you need a raspberry pi if you dont want to connect it to your computer directly.

The quality of the enclosure is really good. The metal is thick and the part seems perfectly assembled.

This is the raspberry pi image for 4.1 firmware.

I hope this would help you to choice the best miner.

I got a S5 and Avalon4. I do believe each one got is + and -

Price on 27-01-2015 : Avalon 4 = 1.87 BTC + 25$ of border = 1.97 BTC
                                     S5 = 1.427 BTC + 90$ of border = 1.77 BTC

If you have any problem, do not hesitate.

EDIT: If you are running on 4.1 firmware, be sure to be at 8000 on chip voltage.

Firmware is different (if you can install it)  Tongue

That is not substantially different. Please don't post the same question in SIX different places, especially when you ask me to come online only to find you offline within 10 minutes of your emails.

Sorry man it was 2 am here!  Grin

Sorted over teamviewer

Thanks you Dogie!

Tip is on the way! I will make a review of the miner tonight!  Grin

Can you help?

I got this.

Sorry, there is no sysupgrade support present, a new firmware image must be flashed manually. Please refer to the OpenWrt wiki for device specific install instructions.

How can I upgrade my firmware? My avalon4 is not mining?

Hello Maxime

Since you are from Joliette, you speak french so let switch to french. Translation in english below.

Bonjour Maxime

Hi Maxime

What people told you in this thread were all right. Im a miner from Quebc and I have been on the forum for more than a year. You need to understand that in crypto, trust is really important because a lot of scam happen everyday. So now, they only way to buy stuff for a new user like you, will be to buy in BTC and use a escrow. You will need to paid they escrow (OgNasty charge 1% and is one of the best in the community) I know it will probably be more complicated but it will be more safe for you and the seller.

quakefiend420 is a well know miner in the community and I suggest you to listen to the advice of actif people on the forum. They probably have way more experience than you.

On that, I wish you good luck and welcome aboard.
