1541  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETC = Most obvious way to double your money right now on: August 23, 2016, 05:18:58 PM
No, this is the classic "dead shitcoin" pattern where people lose interest after the first pump and dump and the value never goes back up again. The only reason it still has volume is because the bag holders are cutting their losses.

Wrong, OP is right. You are the guy that always misses all the pumps. ETC has a lot of volume and a lot of people interested in it getting pumped again. It does not matter how much it will take to pump, it will pump.

All the idiots calling LTC, DOGE, XMR, MAID... (and the list goes on) dead coins, are the idiots that don't load up on the accumulation periods.
1542  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core version 0.13.0 Released on: August 23, 2016, 05:09:05 PM
I'm not sure I get the HD wallets part though, what do you mean It will generate all possible private keys ? It's going to generate private keys for all generated addresses we used?

With the old wallet format in Core, private keys are pre-computed in multiples of 100. That meant backing up the wallet file every time you use up 100 addresses. With the HD format, the private keys are determined using a cryptographic factor of some kind (details, cryptography experts?). This means that the backup only needs to happen once, as the private keys will always be the same exact sequence (the 'D' in the 'HD' abbreviates "deterministic")

But don't you need to create a new wallet for it to be HD? and does it have a nice GUI that guides you through the process like Electrum and tells you to save the seed and so on?

As far as I know you need to create a new wallet and send your coins from the old wallet into the new 0.13 wallet or something like that.
1543  Economy / Economics / Re: 65 million dollars stolen (and counting) from Bitfinex and so what? on: August 23, 2016, 04:41:40 PM
Sadly we'll see more centralized exchanges dying and taking people's money out in the process. Traders need to keep funds inside exchanges to take profit of whats going on, you cannot afford to lose time between sending from your bitcoin wallet to the exchange wallet... I am constantly searching for ways to create a decentralized exchange but I am not that smart. We'll need the help of the great minds in the crypto game to come up with something clever.
1544  Other / Off-topic / Re: What will you do if you own 21 BTC? on: August 23, 2016, 04:37:48 PM
i will use it for open 21coffe shop  Cool
i will use slogan : 21 bitcoin 21 coffe shop 21 menu price only 21bits

i think this is will be popular  Grin

21 is such a cool and marketable number. Also its the total number of coins to exist in millions, that is why companies like 21.co used the number 21.

I hope we all can reach the 21 bitcoin target before its too late.
1545  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core version 0.13.0 Released on: August 23, 2016, 04:29:15 PM
Bitcoin Core continues doing all the hard work while the rest try to get the number 1 spot. I can't wait for 0.13.1 to finally have SegWit working. Let's continue making a good job, Bitcoin remains king of crypto.

Btw, why is it not up here yet?

https://bitcoin.org/en/download
Just waiting on someone to merge the PR for the release: https://github.com/bitcoin-dot-org/bitcoin.org/pull/1348 (Wladimir can't do it himself)

Call me paranoid, but I will wait until the download is availible in the usual https://bitcoin.org/en/download link, and I will wait a little extra due the potential attack thing, even tho it should be safe due the hash verification, but I would like for devs to confirm that those hashes are indeed the real deal.
1546  Other / Off-topic / Re: Save you Bitcoin for your (grand) child / children? on: August 23, 2016, 04:24:51 PM
Im too young to think about grandchildren. When Bitcoin is 100k+ in 10+ years, I will enjoy the gains myself, and then we will talk about grand children later. I am only 30 years old, in 10 years I can still be a fresh looking 40 year old with a big wealth to enjoy Smiley

Sure, old people can be relevant in the bitcoin space and understand it, but they will have computer science background. The average old person is too out of the loop to understand. I dont know how to explain to old people bitcoin, they think its not real money.
1549  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin Changed my life has it changed yours? on: August 22, 2016, 10:04:33 PM
I have made some money, but i have learned a lot, before bitcoin, i didn't even knew what fiat money was, what concepts like decentralization and centralization was... i learned a lot.
1550  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dollar Collapse - What does it mean for Bitcoin ? on: August 22, 2016, 09:42:07 PM
Sounds like another date that will come and go, the internet is full of doomsday predictors  Shocked
Those are the guys making the most money out of the dollar collapse other than the oligarcs and big investors like soros and the smart people in hedge funds: the doomsday type of guys like alex jones.

Im not saying the dollar will not collapse but common, its going to take a while.
1551  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin be replaced by another cryptocurrency? on: August 22, 2016, 08:52:29 PM
As of right now, there are 0.0% chances of any other crypto taking bitcoin's well deserved number one spot. Some say monero will gain traction in the darkmarkets, I say that is bullshit, we will have confidential transactions and higher privacy soon and the bitcoin network is simply too strong to be replaced, as long as progress is being made we are good.
1552  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Update for August 17, 2016 on: August 20, 2016, 06:55:34 PM
stagnation i call for now, until things are cleared from those bad news, then we can go as high as near 1k, and then if we can go above that we will touch 2k for sure with a new ath, i see this happening at the end of this year

bitfinex hack plays a big role as to why the market is slow and going down, that's right, but you're being too optimistic here. there is literally nothing that can justify the price to go up that much this year. even with significant manipulation i can't see the price come even close to the $2000 level. also, i can't even see the price reach $1000 this year.

there is segwit and 2mb update coming, those update are really good, will force the price to increase, demand will increase also, because people will feel more confident in buying bitcoin

Where did you read that 2mb hard fork is coming? Segwit is coming, but afaik no 2mb increase anytime soon. We need to test segwit for a while before 2mb increase, maybe in 2017.
1553  Economy / Speculation / Re: New ATH by July 2017 on: August 20, 2016, 06:53:41 PM
The momentum was damaged with the bitfinex hack but not destroyed. The uptrend is still clear and all those dips are is opportunities to buy lower.
1554  Economy / Economics / Re: When do you buy Bitcoin ? on: August 20, 2016, 06:40:56 PM
At the end of the month when I get paid, the first thing I think about is buying more Bitcoin. Nothing feels better than seeing your wallet grow. This has helped me to stop spending my money on stupid shit like alcohol.
1555  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Where can i D/L a copy of the blockchain? on: August 20, 2016, 06:11:02 PM
I know the optimal way is downloading through the core client but its so slow. It would be could if we could have a way to securely download a copy from torrent that is verified with a hash or something like that, so oyu only have to wait for validating the blockchain which is pretty fast after 0.12 and will only get faster.
1556  Other / Off-topic / Re: What to do with my signature campaign earnings ? on: August 20, 2016, 05:57:31 PM
You should save it all unless you have a better plan. Who knows, maybe in 10 years you find out you've become rich from posting on an internet forum. That would be quite the story.
1557  Other / Off-topic / Re: What will you do if you own 21 BTC? on: August 20, 2016, 05:51:15 PM
The more time you take to own 21 btc the more it will become of an impossible task for the 99.9999% of population earth. Right now is very difficult, in a year once 21 BTC is worth more than 21.000 USD it will be way worse.
1558  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: Phase 33 (federal reserve) on: August 20, 2016, 05:42:01 PM
seems the OP is starting to act a bit to much like 'bitcoinpro'. im guessing bitcoin pro bought another account 2 months ago, but hasnt changed his ranting tactics..
sorry bitcoinpro your game is up, you have been outed

He has a similar style now that you mention it. I remember that I was very confused at a legendary member making those weird ass threads. But well we are free to post about whatever we want in this forum thats the cool thing, his theories are acceptable too.
1559  Economy / Speculation / Re: Let's talk about the price! - Official Whaleclub teamspeak topic. on: August 18, 2016, 04:01:27 PM
The name is misleading, it sounds like a private club of whales only to plan market moving strategies lol

Lololololololol. Maybe it actually is. This is just how they recruit the whales.

This is just a website/blog. I also expected some sort of secret private club with people planning in what to pump next like the stuff fontase does (hey just give me 20 BTC and we will tell you what to buy). I doubt people is making money out of that, sounds like a scam.
1560  Economy / Speculation / Re: New ATH by July 2017 on: August 18, 2016, 03:56:43 PM
We'll see an ATH during 2017, I dont know how much it will take, maybe around summer is good. IT seems during those months pumps tend to happen.
