If you try to explain bitcoin to your friends of contemporary or similar age range than you, it is already a problem to make those people understand what bitcoin is about. Now, imagine trying to explain this to your parents, and imagine trying to explain this to your grandparents. Mission impossible. Sorry but this is too advanced for people to grasp, most people aren't wired to think outside the box. This is why we will all be rich here, we are ahead of the pack.

I have never seen old people using bitcoin, i even kind of doubt they know about bitcoin and i think they wont even bother to know and try to acknowledge bitcoin, but if they are earning bitcoin probably is through trading, because trading bitcoin is almost the same with trading stock
it's indeed rare event to see old people using bitcoin but there's an exception if you're socializing with those techy old people, they'll know what exactly bitcoin is and even using it for their online needs, maybe in your area there's just very few techy old people or even there's nothing

there is always exceptions in these situation. but in general the older people are less interested in these new technologies and so there fewer of them using it. in other words you can find a lot more young people using bitcoin than old.

even the most old people is don't have a skill to write or read also don't know caracter of alphabet. i think it will reasonable why very rare to found old people who interest in bitcoin moreover wanna earning that seriously. i didn't say that it is impossible and nothing there's in reality, but commonly that's what happen in our society especially in country which low knowledge.

If your parents or grandparents have an idea about computer and they are also inclined to what's happening this days, it won't be that hard... There are   old pals that still could use computer... There are also some of those old people who have been in training's and seminars about computer and sometimes even programming sponsored by their company and some teachers sponsored by their school..So most probably they could, but only few and not all..

To be honest, there aren't that much people out there that aren't computer oriented. Most old people know that you can do incredible stuffs on your computer that would be quite hard to get done in other ways. Old people are more mature than us and I think that they can easily understand stuffs unless they've decided to not embrace new things in life.

You can explain how to earn bitcoins to them like how you've explained it to people in your age. But most of the time, old people aren't interested in earning bitcoins (or money in general) anymore because they've done all sorts of stuffs to earn money back in the day already. Why would they need to go online and earn bitcoins if they have money on them or if their children are giving them money anyway?

That's true, some old people are computer oriented... But with regards to earning, I still see some old people working hard to earn and some even have a side jobs and accepting extra jobs after office hours... So probably those people are not stable and not yet on their pension year or worst their children are not supporting them for their daily living... So most probably they could do bitcoin as well, like us...

As an example, I still see old ladies looking for foreigners on chat and dating sites and their chatmate sometimes send them dollars... That goes to show that they are also into earning extra or even for their daily living.

I think this is a stuppid post!
If you drink a 40 Year Oporto wine
you are gonna ask how many people
drinks the wine or do you simply enjoy
the wine.
This is not about a 90 years old lady trying
to send the taxes via Internet.

Grow up,  you are talking about the
the people who invented and coded
exactly what you are doing!
Go play with toys.
Hahahaha

Congratulations newbie, you get a gold star. You are the only one in this thread to realize the developers and creators of Bitcoin are old people.

Harold Thomas Finney II (May 4, 1956 – August 28, 2014) was a developer for PGP Corporation, and was the second developer hired after Phil Zimmermann. In his early career, he was credited as lead developer on several console games. He also was an early bitcoin user, programmer and received the first bitcoin transaction from bitcoin's creator Satoshi Nakamoto.

Gavin Andresen (born Gavin Bell) is based in Amherst, Massachusetts. After graduating from Princeton University in 1988, Andresen began his career working on 3D graphics software at Silicon Graphics Computer Systems. In 1996, he co-authored the VRML 2.0 specification, and later published a reference manual for VRML 2.0. Born in 1966 makes him 50 years old. Satoshi made him the lead developer for Bitcoin, he holds the Bitcoin alert keys and is the chief scientist for the Bitcoin foundation.

Adam Back (born July 1970, 46 years old) is a British cryptographer and crypto-hacker.
He is the inventor of hashcash, the proof-of-work system used by several anti-spam systems which inspired a similar system in bitcoin. Hashcash has also been used in a number of other protocols such as combating blog spam, and defending against user namespace pollution.

Today he is President of Blockstream, a company that seeks to further the development of bitcoin and blockchain technology.

David Lee Chaum (born 1955) is the inventor of many cryptographic protocols, as well as ecash and DigiCash. His 1981 paper, "Untraceable Electronic Mail, Return Addresses, and Digital Pseudonyms", laid the groundwork for the field of anonymous communications research.

There were roughly 20 people involved in the foundation of Bitcoin, from Wei Dai to Nick Szabo and not one of them is under 40 years old. We can also assume the design architect of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, was also at least 40 years old.

So, I guess all of you are right. Old people can't use or care about Bitcoin. All they can do is invent it. O_o

Yes, you’re totally right, the fact that old people like my grandparents or even my parents they don’t like to deal with new technology really drives me crazy every times I want to explain or introduce to them some new stuffs. Like when I tried to persuade my granddad to use a smartphone, it was nearly impossible because he didn’t remember how to download an app not to mention opening it. So I don’t think it’s easy to tell them about bitcoin and make them interest in it as well as use it.

That's actually quite impressive in my opinion. In a way I'm kind of surprised that your father was the one to get you interested in Bitcoin, but in another way I'm not necessarily surprised because I do know some people that are older and are interested in Bitcoin.

yes i agree with you .. the pioneer of the computerized system was at the age of 45 years. age is not a barrier for someone to use bitcoin. initial capital to understand bitcoin is computer science.

Sure, old people can be relevant in the bitcoin space and understand it, but they will have computer science background. The average old person is too out of the loop to understand. I dont know how to explain to old people bitcoin, they think its not real money.
