1561  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Im so newbie in BTC ! PLIS HALP MEEH T_T on: December 30, 2014, 01:15:46 PM
I'am currently using Bitgo, I dont have Bitcoin Core in my PC. But why i can SEND bitcoin to another address using BitGo?, I can also receive Bitcoins by saying my address to costumer?.

Im so confused

EDIT: Now i have installed bitcoin core in my pc. Im just curious why i have this: , It will takes 5 years to sync bitcoin into my network,?? (wtf) :O . I want to link my BItgo wallet to bitcoin. How?

I am personally using bitcoin core as my primary wallet, but the so called "blockchain" is very large. The blockchain is a puplic record that stores all transaction ever made with bitcoin.
I think for you, a "thin" client would be a better choice, e.g. Electrum. - a "thin" client do not need to download the entire blockchain.

Look here "chose your wallet":
https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

I would strong advice you not to keep you bitcoins on any online webpage - you will lose money.
Also keep in mind that bitcoin gives you freedom to control you own funds "be your own bank", but it also gives you the freedom to fuck up and loose your bitcoin.
Educate your self about how to safely store bitcoins, before holding any large sums.

@Woodcollector You should consider start using PGP, I personally use kleopatra, it is very easy to use. You can very easy create encrypted messages and signed messages.
Then will you not run into the same problem again. The only "problem" is that the person you send a message to of cause also need to use PGP.
(It kinda went out of fashion to use PGP here at bitcointalk, its kinda a shame, since it provide privacy in the PM)

Edit: Looking forward to see when the "secret" is officially revealed, I have very high expectations for your "creation" Smiley

Question, I'm worried that printing these on paper and simply folding it and putting it underneath the hologram will cause the paper to erode or wear off from the air and normal conditions come a year or two from now?

Is there any validity in this concern? Don't want to load a lot of bitcoin onto these and then not be able to have access to the wallet come a year from now cause of the private key wearing off.

I might just have too much anxiety about things haha.

I have a few of these myself, great coins for very reasonable price + Serp is great guy to trade with.

I have done my DIY in a little "different" way, as I am not planning to sell the coins I have loaded, then is there no need to destroy the priv key after print. I have save the priv key and encrypted it (with truecrypt) and stored the file on a USB stick, that allows me to have a backup of the priv key. If any of the two is lost (coin or file), then is it still possible for me to retrieve the funds.

arent most of them coming from Germany?

Do you mean fabrication?

I only know about Geiger bar, they are made in Germany - very nice, try get your hand on some of them, but expect a premium.
I try to stick to government issued coins, just don't get that warm fuzzy felling with bars (unless I am 100% sure they are real).

btw listen to Mark, he knows what he is talking about Wink

i can overpay 2 dollars per oz max

It is going to be difficult, unless you go for shots  Undecided

Most bars and coins have a premium over $2 per oz.

I had a receipt straight away after paying in BTC but havent had a shipping confirmation. Has anyone else had one outside the US?

EU shipping here. My order is still at "processing", I think it is normal. There is holiday right now.

Ye I know, just a few people mentioned items being dispatched and I got abit worried because of all the problems we've seen in this thread. Just looking for some reassurance thats all.

I have used other website with bitpay payment processors before. The order goes to "on hold" until bitpay have send a message to the webpage that it is bitcoins are confirmed, then is the status changed to "processing", meaning that the "parcel" is being processed, so nothing is really going to happen before somebody there does something about it (packing up and ship). I am 99% sure that company is legit, so not anything to worry about (imo).

did someone mention a coupon for free shipping? I was willing to spend $100 on it but with shipping and tax its almost $120 now.

Coupon should be long gone, however there webpage seams glitchy, so might worth a try anyway (see quote below)

I made 2000.  Many of them won't be available on the market, Santa Claus got first dibs. Wink

Still fairly limited run Smiley

Just ordered mine, used a coupon code for 10% off, so US$90 for that amazing coin is a good deal Wink

EDIT : coupon code bitcoincongrats Smiley

What was the main reason for going away from "one address" to the system where you get a new receiving addy for each transaction?

Privacy?

I haven't designed the new system though, but I'm happy about the change. Moreover, you can still keep old-style single addresses.

I liked the old-style single addy, I know that reusing bitcoin addy works more by coincidence then by design, but I find i useful in many situations (only for minor transactions though, and I only use my android wallet for minor transactions). I would never resuse a addy for large transactions.

Just wondering if the reason is of the new system is motivated by better security by not reusing addys, privacy or other.

finally got to order one too with btc and coupon code worked and it made it way cheaper than original price with shipping.
Ordered today 4 hours ago, code did not work (but at least the payment processor worked).

(kinda suck that the code did not worked, there is a significant discount when using the code)

Finally I got my order through.

The problem is obvious firefox, worked first time with Chrome.

Merry Christmas to everyone here, and congrats to everyone getting this wonderful coin Smiley

I also gave up, tried everything: bitpay (now is the option removed), 3 different CC, 1 debit card, also tried to have a family member to purchase one for me with CC, all attempt failed. Support stopped replying.
How disappointing Sad

Been looking forward for this coin ever since Mike announced it Sad

One more sad smiley for the road:
