15721  Economy / Speculation / Re: How underpriced/overpriced Bitcoin is against fiat? on: December 14, 2012, 06:49:50 AM
$10 bitcoin makes conversions nice and simple, so i vote for that.

20$ bitcoins isn't that much harder, and i don't feel like seeing bitcoin go down, so i vote for that
15722  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How do miners handle double spent coins? on: December 14, 2012, 06:46:42 AM
miners will look at the blockchain and see you already spent the coins your trying to send and never confirm them

if both of those transactions get confirmed bitcoin dies tonight. Cheesy

FTFY
I expect either one of the final outputs to confirm, or neither of them confirming. Both transactions have 0 confirmations at the moment.

right.

my guess is its random a bit, and which ever one gets included in the block chain first will be valid, it probably doesn't matter which tx was sent first...
I put my money on the one with a fee.

cool test.
15723  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: December 14, 2012, 06:24:48 AM

how did you double spend?

two computers with the same wallet and you click send at the same time?

feel like we are pushing the ask back, with every push the asks get squished closer to 14
maybe the bear is thinking theirs no way the top will be much higher then 15 so hes ready to sell everything at 14.

15729  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Mt.Gox launches the definitive bitcoin checkout solution. on: December 14, 2012, 03:12:36 AM
Well this is just stupid now, I guess I'm going to switch to bitpay.
I did another test order, about seven hours ago. After about six hours, and like 15 confirmations, the amount was sent back to me.

let us know how bitpay works out for you

15731  Other / Off-topic / They call me the Grinch on: December 14, 2012, 02:36:07 AM
I like Christmas for the most part, but my wife's mom's side of the family still insists on giving each other gifts. So now i have to shop for people that are 40 or 60 years old... sure I'll give them a bottle of wine or something like that.... if you ask me its a moo point.

"Christmas is for the kids!", I try explain to tell them.

They call me the Grinch...

anyway this Christmas, I'm giving everyone bitcoins!

15736  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC Adoption Continues: Now Accepted at 4chan on: December 13, 2012, 08:18:49 PM
This is in "Speculation", right?

Anybody wanna draw some arbitrary calculation outta his ass to what extent this will impact prices?

I start!! Grin Grin Grin

If we take the price movement following the wordpress news as reference (5% up in 2 days) and combine it with its page rank on alexa.com (21st) we can calculate the immediate impact of this recent revelation to 0.1% price change (upwards) within about 2 days (990th page rank equals a 47 times weaker effect).

lol

but what about the lone nut effect?

time to get up and dance?
15737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Mt.Gox launches the definitive bitcoin checkout solution. on: December 13, 2012, 07:52:23 PM
Okay, I'm not sure if they fixed it, or if I just had the bad luck of an error last night.
But I did a test order today, and after the bitcoins were sent. It said there was no money there, but some were pending.
So it atleast tells the customer the coins were sent but need to be confirmed. This gives peace of mind atleast.
Payment was sent 20mins ago. No confirmations yet.

I really think its best not to show the user confirmations pending...

the user can get "thanks for payment" with 0 confirmations
and the merchant can get "customer paid for item" after 3-6 confirmations
also the user could get a " payment confirmed " email msg after 3-6 confirmations
but the user must not feel the need to wait 3-6 confirmations this is ridiculous, and unnecessary.

The biggest triangle ever has been broken.

Go Nuts
15739  Economy / Speculation / Re: [poll] are you giving bitcoin for xmas on: December 13, 2012, 07:06:15 PM
I think it is far better to use Bitcoin to purchase gifts with.  For example, I bought my reddit secret santa gift with Bitcoin.
+1 Bee Brothers make great gift boxes. Bitcoin Alpaca socks are nice this time of the year in northern hemisphere.  Smiley

There is of course a ton of other vendors in the B world now. And that's more useful to the success of Bitcoin itself in the long run.

Plus, wherever i buy gifts for fiat, i always tell them that i want to pay with B in the future.

but give them the coins and then can choose what they want to buy.
15740  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: December 13, 2012, 06:41:37 PM
That $14 will be eaten.  We're still feeling the effects of the halving.
but this $14 is very big...
what do you mean exactly with the effects of the halving?

sell bitcoin minted = less selling pressure ?
