1581  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DERO: A secure, private blockchain with Smart Contracts. on: January 17, 2018, 12:04:36 PM
According to this reddit it's a widespread problem affecting most of the wallets on stocks.exchange: https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoMarkets/comments/7q9ute/stocksexchange_a_scam_crypto_exchange_at_worst/

I was successfully able to deposit first 10, then 90 more, TZC to stocks.exchange on the same day (Jan-12) as I tried to first deposit 10 DERO; the TZC showed up about 20 minutes later but the DERO is nowhere to be found; not even a "0/12 Confirmations" notice.

At this point I am trusting in the blockchain to at least prove there should be DERO in my wallet; not much else can be done AFAIK.

AMD cards excel at Cryptonight and Ethash; Nvidia excels at Lyra2v2 and Equihash. Both do fairly well at Neoscrypt. Personally, I think its good to have a mix of cards but if I had to pick just one team I would go green (Nvidia).

1583  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v10.4 (Windows/Linux) on: January 16, 2018, 09:00:32 PM
Mining with no DevFee seems to be helping, however this means I am not paying DevFee (bad IMO) and my hash rate dropped about 4% which is also bad.

Interesting - I experienced a similar situation with Claymore's CPU miner for Cryptonight coins and had to disable the devfee just to get it to work right. Let me just state for the record that if a devfee miner gets hung up trying to get its devfee then the graceful and correct behavior would be to give up after one retry; not repeatedly pause for 30 seconds then retry then pause again, etc.

It's not about the coin, exchange sucks badly.

Yeah, understatement of the year (granted, only 16 days in...  Tongue )

I really like how it does the Cloudflare DDoS check every 5 minutes - real confidence inspiring - and clicking on "deposit history" gives a "whoops, something went wrong" error... equally confidence inspiring, that.

1585  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX 560 hashrates on: January 16, 2018, 08:05:48 PM
Can't harm, for the most part, except if you got one of new cards that have 1500 strap as the last one, instead usual 2000 or 2250

As in, 1500 is the highest strap, or the 1500 strap has already been copied to the higher clocks (ie - it's already optimized)?

FWIW, here is the product page: http://www.xfxforce.com/en-us/products/amd-radeon-rx-500-series/rx-560-4gb-sf-rx-560p4sfgr

I don't know where the get the "effective" memory rate of 7000MHz from... a combination of bus bit width and the usual double data rate factor or what?

One good thing is this appears to be the "real" RX 560 with 16 compute units and 1024 stream processors, rather than the cut-down version with 14/896.

1586  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX 560 hashrates on: January 16, 2018, 07:41:52 PM
Hmm... I picked up an XfX RX 560 from Best Buy this weekend mainly because it was the only halfway decent card in stock, but reading through this thread it seems it may not have been such a bad impulse buy.

Are there any good straps specifically for Cryptonight, or are they mainly geared towards Ethash? I know there is some overlap in the requirements between the two, but Cryptonight generally likes more core clock than Ethash.

How about just doing the one-click optimization in Polaris BIOS Editor?

1587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DERO: A secure, private blockchain with Smart Contracts. on: January 16, 2018, 06:43:26 PM
I filed a support ticket at stocks.exchange about my test deposit from the morning of Jan-12 not going through and told them I would update this thread if I got a response. We'll see how that goes.

However, the deposit can't be lost - it is part of the blockchain and so proof exists that a certain amount was sent to a certain address.

So while it is frustrating that we can't trade DERO right now, except via private transactions, it's not like sending a money order or cash to someone and them saying they never got it.

1588  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: January 16, 2018, 05:36:02 PM
Pushing that button actually resets the bios afaik, so I'm not touching it now. I usually don't need to reboot anymore, that rig is hashing pretty much as intended (apart from that one Vega card that's hashing 150h/s slower than the other 5 for an unknown reason).

Btw I flashed the bios on that mobo. Be careful browsing around the Chinese Onda site, there's two bios files, one for the original version of the board, one for rev.1. I had to blind-flash back to the correct one after I bricked the board with the wrong version... Got really lucky actually.

Oh, man, I bet that was a few minutes of white-knuckle fury/terror, take your pick!

So the button labeled reset is the CMOS reset, not CPU reset? I guess I'll stop pushing it to get the mobo to do something different...  Tongue

Thanks again for the post - and the warning about the BIOS update; that's usually one of the first things I do with a new mobo.

Thanks to R0mi for his PM to me about my Onda woes... Still no joy getting the board to boot despite trying multiple video cards and swapping out the SODIMMs, but it was during the latter that I noticed the package claimed these were DDR3L modules, while the modules themselves said they were 1.5V DDR3... A bit of digging on my part revealed that DDR3L can be used in DDR3 slots, but not vice versa, so this may very well be the problem.

I'm going to see if I can find the memory locally because I don't really want to go through this hassle with Amazon again, nor wait a week for Newegg to get around to shipping something.

Yes, you need the 1.35V mem or it will not work.
Even then, the Onda board is quite temperamental. It took me a while to get it to boot properly - including removing the battery, shorting the pins to clear CMOS etc. After a couple of tries, I got it to beep and boot. It's working well now, but usually doesn't like to "reboot". I need to cut the power to the board completely for it to shut down.

Thanks for responding! I just ordered a stick of Crucial ct51264bf160b as it is supposed to be 1.35V DDR3L; I was unable to find any locally; well, except for a pair of 16GB modules for $180, and that was too rich for my blood.

Is the pair of pins marked J2 just to the upper right of the Celery CPU for clearing the CMOS? It's the only pair of unused pins I can see, and getting at the battery is a real pain once the GPUs are installed.

When you say it doesn't like to reboot, are you referring to the hard reset switch (lower left corner of the board) not working consistently? That would be most peculiar if the case...

I'm sorry, I didn't get. How the daemon  sync is related to pools? I don't mine on the host where sync failed. And problem started just few minutes ago.

If you don't mine on that pool, you need not worry. you daemon will be synced  auto after sometime.

Just my luck - I have 3.9907 DERO on that pool...  Grin

1592  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: January 16, 2018, 12:20:55 AM
exactly. the only reason for neutral is for 120.

Right, but the electrician is probably operating under the assumption that many years ago it was okay to run 3 wires for 220/240VAC circuits but these days one is encouraged, if not outright required, to run 4 wires - 2 hots, a neutral and a ground. NEMA 6-xx outlets are for loads that only use 220/240VAC; for example, larger window unit A/Cs. The old 3-wire NEMA code for 220/240V receptacles intended for heavier current circuits started with 10 (e.g. - 10-30 for dryers or 10-50 for ranges) while the current standard for 4-wire receptacles starts with 14.

In other words, I wouldn't automatically assume the electrician is an idiot, and generally speaking, it's best to run 4 wires for any new 220/240 circuits even if no 120V loads are expected.

@ magic smoker  why are you trying to get video on that mobo?

are you trying for windows?

I am interested in SMOS or NVOC, but for now I want to get the rig running on Windows 10, but regardless of O/S I will need video to do the initial setup.

FWIW,  I already tried plugging the monitor into each of the two GPUs currently installed with no video from either. I also tried resetting the mobo 3x because I vaguely recall seeing that as a recommendation somewhere; all to no avail.

1594  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: January 15, 2018, 11:51:35 PM
Hey guys,

So I just had an electrician coming at home to quote for a 220v circuit installation
He asked me if my power supplies will require neutral, does anybody know more about this as I did a quick search and I'm still confused about it

Thanks

220 doesn't use neutral. Fire his ass now and get someone that's at least semi competent

Not necessarily... The current NEMA standard in North America is 4-wire for 220 (aka 230 or 240), and the neutral can be used for 120V loads. See, for example, NEMA 14-30 or 14-50.

Okay, need some help from the Onda D1800 gurus here... I just threw together a setup with 2 GTX 1060s and I'm getting nothing but a blank screen on power up. The power LED comes on, the fans on the GPU spin briefly, then nothing. Holding the power button down for several seconds triggers a hard reboot so it seems like the CPU is working, it's just I can't the video to show up. I recall seeing a post about this exact same issue in this thread, but damned if I can find it... and I skimmed over every single one of the posts up until this one, too.

I do have a second Onda board to try, but my spidey-sense says this isn't a mobo problem...
1596  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: January 15, 2018, 09:14:56 PM
Out of interest, has any of you tried a riserless board with non-blower-style GPUs? Surely they're too close to eachother to work efficiently, i.e. heat cross-contamination must be terrible?...
Almost all of my 3-card FAH rigs were standard fan-type cooling.
That's WHY I first started buying the Gigabyte "ITX" cards - to allow the middle card to stay at least semi-cool.
Card temps WILL be quite a bit higher due to restricted airflow - even Blower cards have that issue as the airflow INTO the blower is restricted by card proximity, they just don't recirc the hot air inside a case nearly as much.

Blower cards on an open air case don't do any better than fan-type cards.

This is precisely what I was thinking of doing after dragonmike brought up the cooling issue - alternating a couple of "mini" cards with the longer dual fan ones. Should be better cooling all around, though my understanding is that the mini cards tend to have cooling issues in the first place.

I waiting for 10 days for a deposit in stocks.exchange.  Angry

I stop mining, can't lost my money.
+1
same here... can we get an answer what's going on? asked stocs few times: no answer yet..

When I went to file a support ticket about this earlier today a message box popped up saying that they were having problems with deposit wallets, that it would (eventually) get fixed, that the deposits aren't lost (that's a key component of blockchain technology, after all) and to please not pester them about it. Absent an explanation from CaptD I'll give them another day then I'm filing a support ticket regardless.

Happy to hear that you're enjoying the pool, I appreciate your trust. I've seen that odd "not healthy" thing a couple of times, though only on my cellphone. At the same instant no such message appears when I'm looking on my laptop. Not sure why that would be, but the pool itself is certainly healthy and has been up constantly since inception bar a couple of config tweaks (5s max for the config to reload) on Saturday. When you saw the message, was it on a mobile device?

No, this was on my Windows 10 desktop - the same one the CPU miner is running on, in fact. The warning showed up just after I had entered my payment address into the lookup field then automagically went away while I was typing about it. I've checked in on the pool a few times since then but haven't seen the message again, but it doesn't sound too serious so I'm not worried. I've learned to keep at least two DERO pools open at all times, though, just in case the blockchain gets out of whack again.  Tongue

1599  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DERO: A secure, private blockchain with Smart Contracts. on: January 15, 2018, 08:45:29 PM
Am I the only one unable to get my Dero to stocks.exchange? Pending transfers for days... support ticket submitted with no answer for days. What a shit exchange. Any new exchanges in the future that actually work for Dero?

I've been waiting over 3 days for my test deposit of 10 DERO to post on stocks.exchange. And yeah, that site is obviously a low-rent operation but theoretically all transfers are recorded to the blockchain so it can't be lost... theoretically.

Where are you buying new cards, guys?
I checked both newegg and microcenter.
At newegg, there are only crazy prices starting with $950-1000 for 1070 and there is literally nothing at Microcenter.

Hell, I checked 3 different Best Buys in the Tampa area yesterday and all I found was a single RX 560 (which I bought, though felt kind of stupid for doing so). Worse, though, is that there was an empty box for a GTX 1080 that said "Purchase at register" so I took the box to the register only to find out that, nope, they are out of stock.

Le sigh...
