Where are you buying new cards, guys?
I checked both newegg and microcenter.
At newegg, there are only crazy prices starting with $950-1000 for 1070 and there is literally nothing at Microcenter.

Hell, I checked 3 different Best Buys in the Tampa area yesterday and all I found was a single RX 560 (which I bought, though felt kind of stupid for doing so). Worse, though, is that there was an empty box for a GTX 1080 that said "Purchase at register" so I took the box to the register only to find out that, nope, they are out of stock.

Le sigh...

yeah my local micocenter has been bare for weeks,
pretty much standing pat, im not paying $600 for an rx 580 or $900 for a1070ti
which is why im selling my exces 8 gpu motherboards

this is so anoying, i passed on buying cards back in dec thinking they were too pricy smh

lol i hear you marvel - i didn't pass up, i was just procrastinating and then when i finally came around to it wasn't able to get as many as i could.

I'm pretty much at max capacity now though, might be able to add a couple here and there but I'll just call it a day and say I'm maxed out.

I have about 300 TB in HDDs coming so I'll try burst out for shits n giggles.

Selling used Vega for $1k, is a no brainer You could buy three overpriced RX 570 4GB at $300-$320 each with the better overall performance and still have cash left over. Navi coming out in August too.

Yeah, Im with you on that!  When I got my 4 1070ti's a few weeks back, I could have gotten more (in the $480 range) but held off. Then when i noticed supply getting worse, i still could have gotten enough 570 8GB for close to retail to build a rig of those, but I didn't pull the trigger.  Also, could have had a few good Mobos and more PSUs for much cheaper than they are now. at least i got a 1KW EVGA G2 for $100 and a Rosewill 1500w Plat for $280, but yeah it is very frustrating to realize that you could have bought these things even 2-3 weeks ago and now they're gone or way to expensive.

But Im also down with NOT paying the 2-4x markups just to complete rigs. It's better to just build a partial rig and then complete it with more GPUs later when availability gets better.  That's what I am going to... at least with my 1070ti's.  Im now on the fence about my 3 Vega's.  I could probably sell them for close to or over $1k each in this market...and not sure i really wanna deal with the issues that come with them... so might be better to just bank that $3k and invest elsewhere, but not sure yet.
exactly, you can make more investing in other coins than mining with 3x markup cards , heck if i bought eth at 800 and held back in dec instead i would have doubled my $$ nearly

Heck no it's not nice lol. Means I need another spot because my electric panel is only 200A which sucks balls lol.

Why did you give up on it? I haven't even tried plotting or setting up anything yet just dove in and ordered a bunch of drives. Probably getting myself into more than I can chew, but figure why not. Gives me something to do

As usual, Australia is late to the party. You can still buy 1070ti for $500USD here, I just picked up 5.

For .au pricing in these current conditions, that's good value.

If I knew of such costs, I could estimate on the spot, but I have never shipped internationally before so can't say.

It's something I would consider though.

Okay, need some help from the Onda D1800 gurus here... I just threw together a setup with 2 GTX 1060s and I'm getting nothing but a blank screen on power up. The power LED comes on, the fans on the GPU spin briefly, then nothing. Holding the power button down for several seconds triggers a hard reboot so it seems like the CPU is working, it's just I can't the video to show up. I recall seeing a post about this exact same issue in this thread, but damned if I can find it... and I skimmed over every single one of the posts up until this one, too.

I do have a second Onda board to try, but my spidey-sense says this isn't a mobo problem...

Hey guys,

So I just had an electrician coming at home to quote for a 220v circuit installation
He asked me if my power supplies will require neutral, does anybody know more about this as I did a quick search and I'm still confused about it

Thanks

220 doesn't use neutral. Fire his ass now and get someone that's at least semi competent

Not necessarily... The current NEMA standard in North America is 4-wire for 220 (aka 230 or 240), and the neutral can be used for 120V loads. See, for example, NEMA 14-30 or 14-50.

exactly. the only reason for neutral is for 120.

the electrical guy is a moron or a liar.

he should know that pc/computer/  power supplies are all h-h-g

but if the pdu you want to use is  h-h-g-n  for the wall outlet his question is meh.

@ magic smoker  why are you trying to get video on that mobo?

are you trying for windows?

I am interested in SMOS or NVOC, but for now I want to get the rig running on Windows 10, but regardless of O/S I will need video to do the initial setup.

FWIW,  I already tried plugging the monitor into each of the two GPUs currently installed with no video from either. I also tried resetting the mobo 3x because I vaguely recall seeing that as a recommendation somewhere; all to no avail.

Right, but the electrician is probably operating under the assumption that many years ago it was okay to run 3 wires for 220/240VAC circuits but these days one is encouraged, if not outright required, to run 4 wires - 2 hots, a neutral and a ground. NEMA 6-xx outlets are for loads that only use 220/240VAC; for example, larger window unit A/Cs. The old 3-wire NEMA code for 220/240V receptacles intended for heavier current circuits started with 10 (e.g. - 10-30 for dryers or 10-50 for ranges) while the current standard for 4-wire receptacles starts with 14.

In other words, I wouldn't automatically assume the electrician is an idiot, and generally speaking, it's best to run 4 wires for any new 220/240 circuits even if no 120V loads are expected.

thier software was junk, after taking a week to plot 9tb i could never get it to mine
the ui would say its gpu or cpu mining but never showed up on the pool

maybe it’s better now , this was four or five months ago.  I still got a box of brand new 5gb drives laying around smh

Oh god... why do i have the feeling I'm going to have cases of Hard drives boxed up and sitting on a storage rack lol... getting scared now hahahaha

Should have done a proof of concept first, but alas, I jumped head first into a potentially empty pool.

Thanks for the explanation everyone, I think I'm the one who got confused as the electrician was first talking about a 20 amp 120v circuit but then I insisted on having a 220v circuit, so may be his neutral question was for the 120v circuit only, I'll give him a call to clarify

So from what I understand the best option is to run a 4 wire cable with the appropriate receptacle for 220v ?

Note that I intend to use a 20 amp PDU for my rigs

I wouldn't say best. I'd say unnecessary. Either way the goal is to just get it done, so have him do it any way you feel best about.
