1581  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everything you wanted to know about Grayscale BTC Trust but were afraid to ask! on: October 01, 2020, 01:54:51 PM
As promised, a little update on Grayscale.
Today is End of Quarter: let's see how good we are at guessing numbers checking those with official numbers when will be released.

They closed the quarter with 4,8 Billion of AUM, equivalent to 449,789 BTC, or 2.43% of the total Bitcoin Supply.
During the last quarter they bought $722,461,280 worth of Bitcoins (-4.8% QoQ) equivalent to 64,896 BTC (-22% QoQ).
They bought roughly the 79% of the total mined Bitcoin in the Quarter.
This BTC amount grants them 24.6 BTC of daily revenues.

Excel link

I am utterly impressed, you did an amazing astounding job here. Holy Gray(l)scale is becoming one of the biggest Bitcoin whales around. I guess we still need to confirm your data but even if you are only 50% right those numbers are crazy! Good job (can't merit sorry, I will keep some for you, deserved).
1582  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 18.5 million BTC already mined on: October 01, 2020, 01:50:56 PM
We are still a 120 years away from it, all bitcoins will set to be mined at year 2140 we still have a long way to accumulate bitcoins.

Even if BTC mining is completed today, that would not mean that trading would no longer exist and that someone could no longer accumulate BTC. Even today with 6.25 BTC per block the total amount created in one month is 27 000 BTC which is very little if we take into account that there are over 18.5 million coins in circulation.

It is very important that everyone understands the moment we are in and looks at what happened 5 or 10 years ago - so that we can try to conclude what will happen in the next 5-10 years. Of course, there is no guarantee that the past will be repeated, but it seems to me that in a few years people will regret not investing today, just as some today lament the days when BTC could be bought for a few tens of dollars or maybe a few hundred $ back in 2015/16.
People today have two ways when approaching bitcoin:
  • 1. Already a bitcoiner BTC- Keep on accumulating sats, find jobs that pay in btc, work for btc, sell goods/services for btc and so on. Ultimately, become a a master in keys/wallets management and don't leave anything behind as you might want to pass your btc wealth to your family members (or your cat, for what it's worth, I am not here to judge)  Grin
  • 2. Nocoiner, shitcoiner - First of all, unload your shit bag and go back to btc. Then follow point 1.

The road is paved for btc to succeed, so don't be left behind.

Guys, I think now we are going OT here. This is not a technical thread on VPN/DNS/ISP and networking. Let's go back on topic by discussing Bitsler's platform, games and promo.  We already spent one page on that specific issue and I guess it's enough.  Wink
Perhaps, Bitsler could clarify on this and we can move on onto other casino's related discussion.

First of all, congrats. This is probably the most important post I have seen on the matter since a while. And you reminded me of this epic Andreas talk in Milan 2016 where those guys you mentioned (consultants from Deloitte, KPMG PwC etc.) were completely gobsmacked by that speech, that of course they couldn't understand!

Some development in the Genoa COVID situation, 11 players are positive.

0 Players from Napoli are positive for now, they will do another test in the week.
I would not be very comfortable if I was playing or working for Napoli. They could easily develop symptoms in the next few days and I would fiercely refuse to play after having contact with all those Genoa guys who tested positive. I know business is business but were talking about the health of all those involved around Napoli's players.
Jeez, crazy stuff.

The report concludes by saying:

“Although the road ahead for bitcoin is uncertain, one thing is for certain is that bitcoin is valuable”.

Somebody here would comment that this specific conclusion came after numerous hours of science, math etc.  Grin Grin Grin

Can someone help me register an account on this site?
I get restriction from the internet network provider I use on this site. It could be that the site has been blocked by the government. If I use a VPN, does the site prohibit it ?
You can definitely use a VPN and that would be a workaround. The thing is if you are in one of those jurisdictions mentioned in the Terms and Conditions than you should not play on there. It's up to you but you better be careful.

I believe he is from Indonesia like me, I do believe it is fine to use VPN.
Afaik Bitsler has local Indonesian community with many members, the local Indonesian chatroom is also active so there are many Indonesian users on Bitsler.
Still he should be careful if using VPN, better to use the paid one instead of the free one to avoid connection to other accounts.

I just checked their ToC: https://www.bitsler.com/en/tos

So Indonesia is not on the list of restricted countries. I'm also in a neighbouring country and I have registered without any issues whatsoever. VPN could be one alternative, but I would first check with your local internet provider to see what is the issue are before using VPN at all.
If that's the case the connection is getting refused by the ISP (Internet Service Provider). Since Indonesia is not a restricted country you might want to try to first change your DNS and see if you can sign up for Bitsler that way.
Changing your DNS makes sure you get to choose which service resolves those IP numbers into domain names. If you pick good ones you can also improve the overall stability, security and speed of your connection.

After that, well, happy betting Wink

... & cryptocurrencies
it sounds to me like another overly hyped up person who thought the pump and dumps in altcoin market is the actual deal where real "currencies" are growing. usually these people are in for a big surprise after they lost a ton of money to  the dumping part of the same pumps that made them think they've struck oil by finding some shitcoin.
i have always told newcomers to stick to bitcoin and then after at least 6 months of learning and seeing what really goes on in altcoin market decide whether they want to touch it or not.
I only tell newcomers about bitcoin now and never let the conversation shift to the altcoin market. I know it's their money but I feel it's my duty to at least give them a huge warning call of what they could find on the other side of the moon. Once in bitcoin, there's no going back (and forth).
1590  Economy / Economics / Re: Enough with BITCOIN SAVE us or the economy on: September 30, 2020, 06:46:34 AM
Guys Bitcoin is a just a tool in the end, but truly a powerful one. One cannot rely on Bitcoin to become rich, to change his/her own life and so on: there's much more to it. If I could give a little advice study bitcoin deeply: you might find a bitcoin job one day and work in one of the most exciting market in the world. And then, maybe, you could help the world understand the true potential of the BTC protocol.
Like the internet will not save us all the same goes for bitcoin: try to grasp its basics and make the best out of it. You might gain something which is priceless: freedom
1591  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🍀Lucky.lat🍀 - Bets verifier for Luckybit on: September 30, 2020, 06:40:37 AM
Each site uses their own ways to make the bets provably fair, Is not a normalized process, but the math behind each method proves the site is fair by his math.

I already read that some users would like this service for other sites, but what sites would you like to verify, if you give me a least at least i can take a look at their provably fair.
This are the casino's i'm currently using
- duckdice (doesn't know how to verify their flash bet)
- yolodice
- fortunejack

I would highly appreciate it. Thanks seoincorporation!

Ok, if i have some time soon i will take a look at their provably fair engines, but i can't promise it, is just one of those weeks with a lot of work to do.

I have seen some flash slots in the past and for me was impossible to verify the bets, i contacted support and they say their games provider has a gambling licence. But not prove at all of sistem for users to prove their bets.

seoincorporation, my take is that people often misunderstand what provably fair is about. Only some games which are provably fair can see their bets verified. For those other games (i.e. flash bets, 3d slots...) one can only trust the game provider. So my suggestion is to play only where you have 100% provably fair games. This way, at least, they can't cheat on you.

This presidential 'debate' - two incompetent guys being chaired by an incompetent chair, arguing incompetently to try to persuade incompetent people that they would make a competent president. All the time ignoring the fact that an incompetent president is exactly what the real wielders of power want.
This.
Until people will not realize that these puppets are interchangeable sacrificial lambs I believe no one could actually tell the difference of what it's done by a democrat, a republican, a commie or a nazi. Power is power, it nurtures and reproduces in any possible way like a disease that never stops growing.
Good I preferred to sleep than to watch that crap.

1594  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: BIG QUESTION : BIP 0039 on: September 30, 2020, 06:20:23 AM
The short answer is that BIP39 is a method for generating deterministic keys from a "seed mnemonic" (usually 12 or 24 words long), whereas BIP38 is a method for encrypting a single private key (usually used for encrypting so-called "paper wallets").

The long answers are in the specs of each BIP...

BIP39: "Mnemonic code for generating deterministic keys" - https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0039.mediawiki
BIP38: "Passphrase-protected private key" - https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0038.mediawiki

Also, another way to put it is that BIP38 and BIP39 regard entirely different aspects of key and wallet use.
  • BIP38 is a standard for single private key encryption using AES and scrypt hardening. In the past some tools have had erroneous implementations so that's something to be careful about, and it's not a very popular method nowadays since it was never extended to encrypt seeds (that most wallets now use)
  • BIP39 is a standard way of encoding entropy into a word list usually used to encode a seed. The random value encoded is used as the base for generating any number of private keys in a repeatable sequence - covered by companion standard BIP32 - for hierarchical deterministic (HD) wallets.

There was a similar question on reddit a few months ago (best answer by jcoinner). Hope it helps. https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/e9zt5i/can_someone_please_detail_for_me_the_difference/

LiveCoin is a confirmed scam. Users who will join this campaign may receive a negative trust from DT members.
I suggest not to add it to the list of active campaigns in this topic.
Exactly, better to stay away from this campaign. I am sure it will not be added to the spreadsheet.
Edit: Ok, I understand, this is not the thread to discuss specific Signature campaigns. Let's see how they will manage it.

1598  Bitcoin / Press / [2020-09-28] Grayscale Investments now controls 2.4% of the current BTC supply on: September 29, 2020, 08:55:39 AM
Crypto fund manager Grayscale Investments has increased the assets under management in its Bitcoin Trust by more than $180 million over the past week.

According to data from information platform Bybt, Grayscale added 17,100 Bitcoin (BTC) to the firm’s Bitcoin Trust in the last seven days. The company now has 449,900 total coins under management — worth roughly $4.9 billion with the crypto asset at $10,890, closing above $10,000 every day for the last 63 days.

This effectively means Grayscale controls roughly 2.4% of total coin supply — currently at 18,502,381 according to CoinMarketCap — and shows no signs of stopping its buying spree. The total supply of Bitcoin is capped at 21 million, meaning there are roughly 2.5 million BTC left to be mined, or about 11.9% of the total Bitcoin to be generated. Even if the firm were to stop amassing coins now, it would still have control of more than 2% of all Bitcoin in circulation by the time the final block is mined.

No wonder the exchanges' reserves have come down so much this year. Just a couple of million more and we get our supply shortage event.
No wonder this got covered a long time ago by somebody here on BTT (gbianchi). I remember I read it back then.

This is it boys, when the supply shortage will hit, expect FOMO. I can personally wait.
