15901  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everyone has heard of bitcoin! (actually.. most still haven't) on: April 01, 2015, 08:45:10 PM
I once asked my Economics teacher if she had ever heard of bitcoins. After a minute of discussing it to her, she finally asked me a question:

"Is that a scam after all? I haven't heard of it yet, and it sounds kinda fishy if you would ask me."

After that incident, I didn't bother to ask her about it again. But luckily, some of my friends noticed what I'm doing every recess time, posting here in the forums and reading posts that catches my interest. And to this day, I know 4 people who use bitcoins for their online purchases and visit this forum every now and then. If I didn't get the nerve to discuss it to them, then maybe they wouldn't get to know bitcoins as well as its innovative technology and interesting features.
15902  Other / Meta / Re: In-place editing of posts on: April 01, 2015, 08:40:38 PM
I've noticed this feature this morning, and I assume it is new: you can now use in-place editing for your posts right from topic pages. It's kind of a detail but still nice to edit typos etc. What do you think, did I miss something before or is it a new feature indeed?

Well it was in there back then. I also noticed that little button last December, and kinda curious as to what it really does, clicked it and voila! I can edit my post instantly without the hassle of redirecting into a separate page! The only concern I have with that little button is its size, though it's fine as long as users know how to use that button. Smiley

How i can create a bitcoin address?

Since you live near us, I might as well help you in keeping your wallet secure. Wink Nice to see you here, dude. Frequently posting and getting along with the community. If you have any questions, this is a good place to start (though Google helps most of the time too.) Cheesy
15904  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2 week target $160 on: April 01, 2015, 08:28:12 PM
I freaking hope it goes farther I want sub $100 btc.

Uhhm, you do realize that the moment we reached sub $100, most people will hurriedly sell their holdings and thus adding fuel to the downward spiral of bitcoinm right? Though we can fairly say that there are some people like you who will buy coins when it reached that amount, but that's just not the case. :3 Panic might trigger those hands to sell instantly after all, rather than to lose and get nothing in the end.
15905  Other / New forum software / Re: The 1.5 million dollar (5067 bitcoin) new bitcoin talk forum. on: April 01, 2015, 08:25:10 PM
I've just read two threads regarding the "$1.5 million forum software" that has yet to be released and we, as Bitcointalkg users, are the ones who's gonna be using it. Can't wait what's in store for us bitcoiners! Cheesy

... And it is passed another month (from their deadline February 2015). What do you think guys, will the new forum software be finished before the end of April? I think yes and you?

Well we don't need to be in a hurry though. The developers might as well do their best to fix the bugs and other security issues rather than to rush the work and deliver it to the deadline. You don't want the $1.5m to be spent on rubbish, do you?  Grin

15907  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie questions about Bitcoin on: April 01, 2015, 08:01:07 PM
Hello, I'm new to Bitcoin, I just installed it and downloaded the mega blockchain. Now I have some questions:

1. Is it beneficial for the Bitcoin network if I have a client running all the time? I do not have sufficient hardware for mining but I could run bitcoind on my server. Can I even benefit from it myself?

2. Is it possible to use the same wallet on multiple computers? How about copying the private keys from computer A and importing them on comp B? Or is this not recommended?

3. I read some old thread and it was said that the source of a transaction cannot be seen. Is it so? The blockchain records all transactions? But how they are shown there? "X bitcoins from A to B" or "X bitcoins to B"?

1. Yes. Running bitcoind will benefit the Bitcoin network, but I'm not entirely sure if there are incentives given to those who decided to run as a full node.
2. You can always import the privkey from one pc to another, but I'm not sure if you can run the same wallet with different computers simultaneously. 3. Are you referring to the addresses? Like 1askjdwqkjeljqwkDasdaeb4 sent x amount of btc to 1daoeiwqueioquw3h2? Or are you referring to the location of the sender? Confused. Huh
15908  Other / Meta / Re: What did theymos do with 200K? on: April 01, 2015, 07:54:24 PM
man are they reinventing the wheel? This forum (SMF) is free to use, why the hell would anyone spend that much money on new forum code? Why not donate it to smf and work with the devs there to make it better?
Obviously it has held up quite well for the last 5 years too; which seems like a pretty good testament to the code.

Yes, we are creating a completely new forum software to compete with SMF. SMF has a lot of issues, it just isn't suitable for our needs. As far as how much money it costs, I hope that it will be well worth it, but frankly, creating new forum software is pretty much the only thing that the donated coins are to be used for. What else do we need? Might as well go all out.

Those donations are for the forum, though, so might as well spend all of those for the development of the forum rather than any other nonsense and useless crap. The $1.5m dollar should be good, because I can't stand it if ever the new forum software is almost identical to what we have right now. Sad Hoping for the best out of that pretty good sum. 15909  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What altcoins are good for bitcoin adoption? on: April 01, 2015, 07:33:56 PM
I think Dogecoin helps it, its a friendly way to get people into crypto, the community is nice, the coin is fun.

I don't know why people think its Dogecoin vs Bitcoin.

bitcoin has much big community and adoption than compare with doge, so in my opinion bitcoin do not need any alt coin for its adoption.

True. Tbh, there isn't much of a competition between Dogecoin and bitcoin. Dogecoin is meant to be a not-so serious coin after all, whereas, bitcoin is designed to be the currency of the future because of its innovative technology. Imo, bitcoin can still see worldwide adoption even without the help of other altcoins. It's just a matter of good pr and any other good stuffs relating to/related to bitcoin.
15910  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin and macroeconomics: what influences BTC price on: April 01, 2015, 07:20:25 PM
I think it simply boils down to supply and demand. If people are paying less and buying less the price goes down. If more people buy the price will go up. When demand outweighs supply the price goes up drastically until it finally balances out and the cycles eventually continues.

+1

No major theory behind this. 3500 new BTC created every day. If demand s over that, the price goes up, if under, the price s go down. Simple.

In addition to every day speculators.

But isn't it a different story if the supply and demand are controlled by only a few people? If the supply is outweighed by demands, then surely prices go up. If a group of people created this pressure to the selling side, isn't it a different story than the basic supply and demand idea? Same concept, yes, but different cause and effect, I guess.
15911  Economy / Economics / Re: How to save money. on: April 01, 2015, 07:13:25 PM
Just live within your means and educate yourself financially. Other than that depends on what you want to do with your life.

Well it's not always what you want, it is also based on what you really need on your life. There are things that you can go by without, like several luxuries and stuffs that you don't really need. Educating yourself financially is a good way to go; you can easily cope up with what's happening in the economy and you tend to be wiser than most of the uneducated ones in terms of financial understanding.
15912  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What altcoins are good for bitcoin adoption? on: April 01, 2015, 06:48:22 PM
Why not go straight into adopting bitcoins rather than using other altcoins? As far as I can see, there are no altcoins in history that had been beneficial for bitcoins. Huh
15913  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paid a hooker in vegas using Bitcoin Saturday night on: April 01, 2015, 06:38:50 PM
Thanks for your response fabiola, much appreciated. After 2 years of dating, I just found out last night I had been cheated on by my now ex girlfriend.

<redacted>

...

From the simple making out when drunk to the full out woman on woman sexual experience, lot of women I have dated all have at some point that history.

...

Curious to hear your thoughts. In real life I swear I'm not creepy or anything like this, as a young 20 year old I just really have wondered this and obviously asking this to my female friends could come across as weird so figured I'd ask you, here on this anonymous forum.

Don't take what I'm saying above too seriously at all, I just got back from going to the bars with friends, am a lil drunk and felt like having some fun on this forum before passing out.

What you have there is an extremely rare woman. Don't ever lose that one. Hell the relationship I just got out of, I was lucky to get sex 2-3 times a week after dating for a year, in the beginning it was 2-4 times daily which is what i had hoped it would remain (or at least once a day). And I know as you get older, generally women want it less and less and use the "I'm tired" excuse more.

What country are you from / living in ? I live in the United States. I take offense to you what you said ma'am about hitting on whoever I see, I've been in a faithful relationship for 2 years and then got cheated on, tonight was honestly the first time I went out to a bar as a single man and I was just trying to have a good time.  Tongue Anyways, when I think of a girl having an ass, I don't like it as big as nicky or the kardashians that TOO MUCH ass. If you have TOO MUCH ass, how can you get most of your dick in the girl when you gotta get past all that ass? I'd rather have a girl with a nice ass I can smack but also massage when trying to make love, but still be able to get all of me in there for the girl's benefit. Getting a huge fake ass is just hurting the girl's chance of orgasming since all that ass can get in the way sometimes.

If I can squeeze your ass and it don't look flat as a pancake, then you have my approval. Personally, I'm a breast guy, this is awful to say but I can't even consider hooking up with someone who is an A cup, I see them as somewhat manly for lacking such, IDK why.

(I'm a really kinky guy so thats one thing I hated in my 2 year relationship, she wouldn't do any roleplaying or fun stuff I was used to before I met her, although she was really hot).

/end talk (I talk too much I know)

Recall, he's 20, and relating events when he was 18 and still in high school - Roll Play High.

I'm a lanky, newly single guy. Before I never thought I'd need to look nice but with me just having turned 21 and now single I'm trying to bulk up. And quick.

What methods do you guys recommend? I'm working out daily and taking 2 scoops of weight gainer daily, 2 scoops of whey after workouts, and a shake of casein protein before bed. Each scoop has roughly 25 grams of protein.

Anything else to help? I'm 21 and weight 135 lbs sadly...I'm a guy. I had ADHD as a kid and the meds killed my appetite which is why I'm so skinny now as an adult.

one who is also as sexy as this

Hopefully Im stating the obvious when I say sexy is not about just looks.  That gal is from russia apparently anyhow so could be not the easiest relationship lol
Not gonna lie, I make enough I could support two people easily, I could buy us vacations and nice things so f*** it if she turns out to be an idiot and I say this nicely, I'd marry that girl above in a heartbeat. I make $200k yearly n I'm 20 so yeah. If you ain't as pretty as her tho then 50/50 personality n looks I want Smiley

Approximately $395,000 at a price of $220 for BTC.

Luckily I bought into LTC at $0.02 for 20,000 of them years back when first introduced on BTC-e and sold them for ~$24.00 each roughly.

I sold 0.32xx BTC and then 0.185 BTC for roughly a total of $145 and I still don't have my money.

It says on Coinbase I would have the funds in my account on Wednesday January 14th, YESTERDAY.

Where is my money? If they dare cancel my sale I will be filing a claim with the BBB. Really pissed right now.

I know me personally, I haven't held bitcoin overnight in months and don't plan to anytime soon.

Looking for cash for my BTC. If interested let me know, if EXTREMELY trustworthy I'll send first. I run a business and will have payments every so often in BTC so it would be nice to find someone able to do this reliably.

Escrow is more then fine (actually preferred honestly).

Message me if interested.

Made a half million dollars trading LiteCoin, then tries to move .953 BTC via means above oppose to using formidable channels.

I say this dude wants to be in the runnin' for The Fodor Award: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=990219.0

Cloudbet why do you lie to us? Do you think we're stupid?

So long. I skipped a few quotes to read. Cheesy Great story line up by op. Didn't know he was such a great storyteller. Really deserves an award. Good find. Hahahaha.

No skipping quotes is allowed!  Wink

One must read the entire post, paying close attention to the dates, to fully understand what type of asswipe we're dealing with here, and why he desires this month's The Fodor Award.

Okay, I'm sorry about that. Wink I've read the quotes one by one, paying close attention. Though I realized that this ain't another normal story awhile ago, I didn't know that I would get a good laugh upon reading it the second time around.

OP, can you toss up some coins to this address: 1HZi1d5h3etbUyBzX4kgZFb6UBoTAszA44 You've stated that you earned half a million dollars by just trading litecoins. Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Consider donating to that address and think of it as your graduation gift to me (as I had recently graduated.)  Grin  Grin  Grin

15914  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin and macroeconomics: what influences BTC price on: April 01, 2015, 06:26:56 PM
the reason is simple, whales playing with the market

this is why adoption is needed, having few people with 10k coins each , can only lead to volatility and manipulation

And they're definitely enjoying the game they made all by themselves. Put in a large amount of new players (or adopters), even the small fishes, then definitely this whales will feel to weak against several schools roaming around their once controlled ecosystem.

i think now there no more fish to suck them money, it's pure whales war, this is why the price is stuck there with few up and down from time to time

No good news or anything that falls within the same line though, so I guess the markets are a bit calm. One good news may start a hype on the masses then we will see again, a sudden influx of new users hoping to "get rich" in this roller coaster ride. Unfortunately, those newcomers know nothing about this "whales" and stuff/ When they get to experience what the whales are capable of, they end up shouting fuds and false claims like "bitcoin is dead." Well, we cannot avoid the occurrence of big players in any market available, so we might as well stick to it and play their games too.
15915  Economy / Economics / Re: How to save money. on: April 01, 2015, 06:21:28 PM
I think it's actually quite easy to save money as long as you have the discipline. I'm pretty good at saving money and have much more than all my friends but I think it's about finding a balance. My friends tend to spend a lot of money on alcohol and going out whereas I don't. They probably enjoy themselves more than me but I know they all hate having no money but can't seem to change their habits. I go out once a or twice a month to party or whatnot but they go out once or twice a week and then have zero money at the end of the month and that then means no luxuries or holidays in the future. If they ever get into trouble financially or lose their job they then can spiral into debt quite quickly.

That's the worst you can ever experience. Being too careless on spending often leads to loan and debt, and when we say debt = financial institutions or banks. Those people who have the money but doesn't have the discipline tend to get rekt in the end, never thinking about the future and enjoying themselves too much. Well as the OP stated, a good way to keep something in case shit happens is to allocate at least 20% of your paycheck to your savings and the rest may go to your expenses and whatnot. It's better to be prepared than to regret in the end.
15916  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is the chance of Bitcoin being 1000 us dollars in the next year on: April 01, 2015, 06:13:25 PM
I doubt if we would ever see $1000 in this year, but next year might be good for bitcoin. Seeing that the next block reward halving is set next year, the buying pressure might as well oppose the selling force. Different players entering the game with big investments are just simple beginnings that may take us to, well, beyond $1000 range next year.
15917  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin and macroeconomics: what influences BTC price on: April 01, 2015, 04:41:27 PM

THEY influence the price! TPTB, the ones who have the stock markets high and gold/silver low!

the influence will keep on happening even if there are thousand of new adopters, because a whale actually didnt work alone but consist of a group of few whale, 10k coins + bot cant actually manipulate the price if you work alone, a group, then yes it can be easily manipulate

And dont forget the actual cause of the volatility will be that there isnt actually a demand yet for bitcoin, so instead of treating it like a stock which has some fixed value, people actually treat bitcoin to be a trading instrumental, because the volatility is great and trader love it

Yes. A whale or a group of whales can cause some serious ripples in the water, but not all whales move synchronized. The contrasting ideas and actions of two whales (or even different groups of whales) can again cause some serious disturbances in an ecosystem. There goes those weenie fishes swimming around, hoping to fit in this new kind of environment. A whale can drive the price down, yes, but if there is enough support coming from a multitude of small fishes, then the result should be somewhat minimal, as the forces of the multitude fishes opposes the power of one single Moby Dick. But what about group of whales? Well that is another question.

If bitcoin sees serious massive adoption, then these whales can have their forces decreased, but still they can affect the markets significantly. The different forces that affects the markets are somewhat complicated to understand--which makes it more interesting to see what's in store for bitcoin given that there are whales and fishes that swim around this ever-growing ecosystem.
15918  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2 week target $160 on: April 01, 2015, 04:33:05 PM
Ok, jokes are over.

Analyzing the charts and order books today i noticed how we will fall straight down to $160 if we break $230.
Chances are around 93% that we break $230 within the upcoming 2 week period.

This will be the start of the crash I've been talking about! Fasten your seat belts for the drop of your or get out while you can!

Woah. Where did the 93% chance came from? o.O

Well even if we crossed the $230 boundary, or even managed to hit $200, chances are most positive-minded traders will consider this as yet another good entry point and buy orders will force the price to go upwards.
15919  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paid a hooker in vegas using Bitcoin Saturday night on: April 01, 2015, 04:19:49 PM
Well this thread got ugly fast. I can't believe you're arguing about what prostitutes like to be called. I can settle this for you. In Clark County, which is where Las Vegas is located, prostitution is illegal. Because it's illegal they like to be called "escorts" and most charge between $300 and $500 an hour for things "on the menu". Off menu items can increase the price to as high as $10,000 an hour. You have to drive about 60 miles outside of Las Vegas to Nye County before prostitution is legal. In Nye County they're called prostitutes and have health and work permits.

I'd like to meet these so-called "prostitutes" with health and work permits, so as to prevent contracting STDs and the likes for just some hours of pleasure. It's hard to pick-up a "clean" prostitute nowadays. Scary tbh, you might pick one of those girls which already has some serious disease on her body.
15920  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's time for Plan B. #Bitcoin on: April 01, 2015, 04:03:31 PM
It might be a good pr to bitcoin, but as always, bitcoin is already tainted with dark crimes and is always related to different online crimes or even in real life. I agree that Kim Dotcom is a nice person, and is also a well-known figure in the internet. If he can use some of his connections to enter and use bitcoin, his so-called "Plan B" might be good after all.

Plan B= Plan bitcoin.
