161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][ADC] AirdropCoin - We're dropping millions of coins from a plane on: March 18, 2014, 02:44:04 PM
This needs to happen!

I wrote about it over here.
162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: without regulation of those exchanges, btc will never be in a high price on: March 13, 2014, 05:15:58 PM
OP seems to have strong opinions but little experience.

Trusting 'the authorities' to solve our problems with crypto exchanges won't work. We can see the failure of this approach in the endless scandals across "regulated markets" - Libor, precious metals, sub-prime, HFT etc.

Regulatory capture is the inevitable result of such an approach.

We must arrive at a cryptographic solution. Maths is a lot more trustworthy than masters.

And what's the deal with Potcoin, I see the wallet is selectable but don't find other info on it?

This looks interesting so I wrote about it over on CryptoCoinsNews.

If someone from ManicMiner is reading this, please contact me via PM. I'd like to ask you some questions.
165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Auroracoin may be the most exciting altcoin of 2014 on: March 03, 2014, 04:00:01 AM
Hi balduro, I wrote the Auroracoin article on CCN you probably saw.

I'd like to do a follow-up interview with you. Please reply via PM.

When the leaked documents suggested a bailout was being planned, I wrote an article arguing against it: Central Banks Fail to Bail Gox, Proving Superiority of Bitcoin Economy (As Per Satoshi)

Although I hope everyone gets their money back, a bailout would set a terrible precedent. Glad to see that most people realise this.
169  Economy / Speculation / Re: [31 Jan data] bitcoin price theory proposal on: February 01, 2014, 09:06:28 PM
Thanks for your work, gbianchi, very interesting!

I made reference to it in my latest article, it is helpful to investors to have a formula like this to calculate fair value.

171  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mystery Chart Says to Buy Btc now and sell in ~115.2 Days on: January 15, 2014, 04:45:14 PM
The Mystery Chart has become a bit of an obsession with me.

I am now applying these time cycles to many charts.

Today I found an odd timing pattern where 2x the major low to major low period of the recent "bubble" interests the date where the major downtrend line from the double top meets the $1000 Bitstamp significant resistance. It's easier to understand on the chart.
172  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Any soapstone carvers out there? on: January 09, 2014, 10:01:05 AM
OK MoonShadow, I will begin making enquires. The only thing is that the shipping from here will probably add quite a bit to the price due to the item's weight.
173  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Web hosts that can be paid in bitcoins? on: January 07, 2014, 12:41:11 PM
I'd like to recommend NullRoutes in the UK, who have been hosting my Gold Rhino site since it opened. They offer fast and friendly support and I couldn't be happier with their hosting. If you speak to Dahn in their Livechat, you'll find he's keen on Bitcoin and they recently started accepting it.
174  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Any soapstone carvers out there? on: January 07, 2014, 11:56:10 AM
Hey MoonShadow, I might be able to get these carved for you. What sort of size and shape are you looking for?

I deal in African art but have not yet added stone carvings to my site. Here is an example which may or may not suit your purpose:

175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PPCoin Proof of Stake Minting Setup Guide on: January 05, 2014, 11:20:45 AM
I can't seem to get minting working.

I open my Peercoin wallet with the -datadir switch, the data directory is kept on a different drive.

I run minting.bat in a command shell from the Peercoin application directory.

It gives the following message:

error: You must set rpcpassword=<password> in the configuration file:
C:\Users\*\Appdata\Roaming\PPCoin\ppcoin.conf

-

OK, so it's looking in the default directory for the config file. I create a config file there with the same password as the config file in my -datadir directory.

Now I get this:

error: {"code":-14,"message":"Error: The wallet passphrase entered was incorrect."}

-

Is there a solution for this?
176  Economy / Services / Re: Web Graphic Design Services ( 5 free design jobs for start) on: January 04, 2014, 12:46:37 PM
People can now vote for this as the new CryptoCoinsNews logo! This should generate a lot of publicity for your graphic design company, Shatas91.  Smiley
177  Economy / Services / Re: Web Graphic Design Services ( 5 free design jobs for start) on: January 04, 2014, 09:31:31 AM
Hey Shatas91, thanks a lot!

It looks good to me, just waiting on feedback from site owner / team.
178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Is this malware from 4bc.co or just spam? on: January 04, 2014, 09:13:34 AM
All direct links to potential malware are blocked - be careful navigating to the site mentioned below as it may contain further malware!!

Hey guys, I just received an unsolicited email from "Martin from 4BC" <bitcoin@4bc.co> which is full of links and contains a zip file with a .exe inside, plus an attached PDF.

4BC's launch thread on this forum shows the founder has a very negative Trust score. His Trust summary mentions malware and phishing.

His email to me claims he sent the message to me because I'm a member of 4BC, which I am not.

This has all the signs of foul play. He probably got my public email address from this forum.

Here is the email text:

"

Dear users,

I wish you a very Happy New Year 2014!

If you are worried about the future, about increasing inflation,
and the factors that make for such a nervous economy, I have some
ideas you should seriously consider.

Or maybe everything is perfect. And you are totally happy with
the way things are. If so then THROW THIS EMAIL AWAY...
BECAUSE YOU DON'T NEED ME.

Over the last three months, I've written an eBook about online
marketing. Specifically aimed at the Bitcoin community;
this eBook contains 95% of everything I know about marketing!

Since you are a 4BC user, I'm sending it to you at no Charge.

Please find your BitBillions Marketing PDF eBook as an attachment.

Or if you want to get the Windows eBook version,
a stand-alone program (no setup, one .exe file) for Windows XP,
Vista, 7, 8 etc...
Click here: [removed 1 link to a zip file]

In 2014, enjoy yourself, have fun and get prepared for success!

P.S. You'll be amazed at how simple and easy it is to apply all
of these techniques. Your BitBillions Marketing eBook will allow
you to begin immediately.

If you know what you're doing, I can forward the email to you for examination.

Until examined by a security pro, I would warn everyone to be very careful with any emails from 4bc.co!

LOL! This is not the 1st time. Come on, luqash3, you're watching too much TV.  Grin
180  Economy / Services / Re: Web Graphic Design Services ( 5 free design jobs for start) on: January 03, 2014, 02:31:28 PM
Hey Shatas91, thanks for the generous offer. Your work looks good to me!

Please create a logo for the Cryptocurrency Investment Club on CryptoCoinsNews. If you scroll down on that link, the logo will initially be placed near the large red "Join Now" button. It will also be attached to emails sent out from the Club, so vector format or various sizes would be helpful.

I did the site logo up in the top left but graphic design is not my profession. You can base the Club logo on that or otherwise (if you think you can dramatically improve it) redo both. Either way, it'd be good to have some commonality between the logos.
