Yeah, it's far more likely they will find out the second half by the same method they found out the first half. Also there's some possibility that there's some EC vulnerability if you know half of a key, but that's beyond my knowledge.

Did you generate that address in bitcoin-qt or did you import it from something someone else gave you, maybe a brainwallet? Did someone else have access to your computer who could have stolen the coins?

It makes it 340282366920938463463374607431768211456 times easier to brute force.
So if you could guess 10^9 per second it'd only take you 10^24 years instead of 10^63 years.

If you're worried about compatibility then download that exact version that he states on the site. The Live USB won't damage your existing OS. Of course it's possible that you could damage the OS by formatting the drive or deleting files, but just don't mess with the hard drive and you'll be fine.

There should be no reason you need to send purchased bitcoins specifically to a blockchain.info address.

I haven't used any of them, but I'd recommend Danny Hamilton based on his helpful post history.

If you have downloaded a bunch of bitcoin/altcoin software I would start by reformatting the HD. Many such programs have keyloggers and other malware. Anyway, I like a cold storage wallet, like a paper wallet, for real money. And a spending wallet on my phone for small balances.
Yeah I avoid altcoins for this reason. I'd rather risk keeping altcoins online than downloading a suspect client and losing real coins.

Check if the antminer has some sort of firewall that only lets it connect to computers on the same subnet. Also check if you need to forward https port as well. But, I think it's a bad idea to expose it to the internet. I can't imagine that it's hardened against attack.

You want to control an AC based on the temperature in the room... that's called a thermostat ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Most ACs have them built in.

Electrum can import a private key. If you want to keep everything in bitcoind you'll have to rescan. I'm not sure what armory's reindexing speed is vs bitcoind.

Can't you just sort the output?

Sorry, that was surely really badly put. But the next time he generates a new address, he might just generate the private key that corresponds to the address where Satoshi has the most bitcoins.
I would not want to create any more confusion with these things of course...
The next time you walk outside you might be approached by an alien robot disguised as a semi-truck too.

They're just a normal bitcoin address. The point of a paper wallet is that it's secret. If you spend it then it's not a secret anymore so reloading it would defeat the purpose.

So what happens to the world if millions of millionaires are created all of a sudden?
A million millionaires would require purchase of 1 trillion dollars worth of bitcoin. How is that going to happen?

I think you're supposed to send it to yourself in a PM

In person, because of status? I don't think this is right.
In a Brick and Mortar casinos there are betting limits because rich people don't like to sit with poor people.

If you wanna get to the bottom of it, read the wikipedia article. It's pretty good. Overall, the key to defeating martingale (if you are the house) is to place a bet limit. Once there's a highest bet possible, the martingale player has to lose as soon as their local loss streak takes them to the point of butting up against the bet limit. Note that if you consider a player with a non-finite amount of fundage and no bet limit the martingale is going to clean out the house eventually. However, these conditions aren't met in real life ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) That's not why there are betting limits. It's because of Kelly and in person, because of status.

Just use offline storage / signing.

Just go ahead and make your transaction coin. Or If you want I could probably program it up for you for about 5 BTC, though I'd only make a linux client.

Does Visa randomly give away a bunch of money every 10 minutes to those that made a purchase in the previous 10 minutes?
