True, but this is a neat result:

99.1624% of the time you win 1 unit
0.8376% of the time you lose 127 units (that's about 1 in 120 times that you play)

Betting 127 units to win 1 unit is a 1.007874x payout.
On a site with a 1% edge, you would get a 98.2265625% chance of winning such a bet.

But we have a 99.1624% chance of winning it by using this martingale progression.
That is significantly better.

Looks to me like we've reduced the 1% house edge to an effective edge of 0.0568%!

>>> (0.505^7 * 127 - (1 - 0.505^7))  /  127.0 * 100
0.05679948984803941

No, because you're not betting 127 units every time.

Why don't you guys take your cavity filled teeth and unvaccinated children and go live on some island somewhere where you can heal each other with magnets while your cancer spreads to untreatable levels?

You can also encode a message as the address, but that won't associate the message with a "real" transaction.

You used the fake blockchain website that is advertising on google to get the top spot
You had blockchain email you your account backup and your email was hacked
You have a keylogger virus installed
You imported that address from some shitty address generating website because "the regular way just can't be trusted"
Your friend saw you logged in and stole your funds

Is Pantera even still together?  What do they want with bitcoins?
127  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does martingale really works? on: June 26, 2014, 07:42:47 PM
He's talking about condensing your martingale series into one roll with the same chance of winning as the entire series had and doing that over again 20 times.
128  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is time a circle? on: June 26, 2014, 05:10:59 PM
Maybe we die and we vanish, but i still think that has to be an "afterlife",and in my view that in that afterlife is that we reborn,we born, we live, we die and reborn again........

You don't vanish.  You lie there in your coffin, rotting.  If you don't want to accept that, that's fine, and you can hope for something greater.  But it is still the explanation that makes the most sense.

Then you should have stated instead that you already exported the keys, since in your post you wrote that it was too big of a hassle to do that.
130  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does martingale really works? on: June 26, 2014, 05:07:27 PM
In very simple terms:

The house has an edge.  If you're making bets that the house has an edge at then you'd expect the house to make a profit.  If you expect the house to make a profit then you have to expect to lose.  You can't expect both you and the house to profit.

I'm actually reading a biography of Philip K Dick right now and he had an interesting take on time. He called it orthogonal time. There are two times, our normal flowing time and that time, where all moments exist at once and there is no past present or future.

That's like imaginary time, it's at a 90 degree to real time.

Everyone holds either one of 2 ideas about death - nothing happens, or you go to an afterlife. But the the idea that makes the most sense to me, is that you are reborn instantly and re-live the same life an infinite number of times. If the universe is infinite, so is everything else in it. The big bang eventually collapses again, and the chain of patterns repeat. We've been here forever, and always will be.

How is that the idea that makes the most sense to you?  The one that seems most likely is we die and then we're just dead.
133  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does martingale really works? on: June 26, 2014, 04:25:27 PM
I think its higher, it is essentially the odds of losing 20 hands in a row is it not?

No, because if you win the first 10 and lose the last 10 you're not coming out ahead.
134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Recover wallet passphrase - special circumstance? on: June 26, 2014, 04:07:33 PM
You're really asking for trouble by not exporting the private keys right now.

As one of the people who joined the network because of their libertarian values, the auction bothers me because

I'm not sure you understand libertarians.
Or values, or auctions, or Bitcoin.
Or how to use the search button
136  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does martingale really works? on: June 26, 2014, 04:02:10 PM
I am talking about a 1 time run where your odds are 99% chance of winning.  I have been saying that the entire time.  I have already said countless times that over the course of time, you are going to lose money.  But if you say, had a 20 bet limit, and you rolled 20 times, you have a 99.99% chance of gaining a very small amount of coins/money...etc

If you only roll 20 times then it's more like 92% chance

Hi, every once in a while my abe gets stuck on a http request and to unstuck it I have to attach to screen and control+c it, any idea how to get around this ?

Mine only does this when I don't run the web server and database portions separately.
139  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does martingale really works? on: June 25, 2014, 04:47:43 PM
I'll bet 1 BTC that you won't make exactly 5 base units if you roll 100 times with martingale.

I switched a long time ago, never looked back.  Iphone sucks in comparison.  I heard they were adding some features in the newest version that android's had for like 5 years. Just read up on some widget customization tips and you'll be fine.  Don't get a task killer.  Check out phandroid.com for other tips.
