161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: June 23, 2018, 04:03:53 PM
I threw a Current Transformer on my Z9 and here are the readings at 650 MHz (starting at 10:30 am), and at 750 MHz (starting at 11:00 am):

Miner status window running at 750 MHz for a little over 30 mins:

When I played around with OC settings yesterday in the 600's, nothing over about 650 seems to do anything, but Vosk showed me his running solid at 750, so I figured why not.  Smiley

So 50 more watts for another ~ 1,700 Sols definitely seemed worth it to me, as long as it doesn't blow up before earnings are less than power cost.
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: June 23, 2018, 01:20:55 AM
From observations, you don't gain much beyond 650, it ends up around 14.5-15kh/s regardless. There is some other limit in the system which prevents it from doing more, may CPU/RAM limitation.

That has been my experience as well.  I'm currently running 656 but there is no difference from running at 646.

In the morning I'm going to put a current probe on my Z9 and plot power over time and relate it to clock setting, to see if it even uses more power at higher clocks.
163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Z9 list of working pools on: June 22, 2018, 08:37:25 PM
Got my 1st unit today and it is running happily OC'ed to 656, no HW errors and temps in the low 60's.

Mining BTG on MPH with 0.00% invalids after a couple of hours.

Tried NH, but as others have reported, 50%+ rejects.
164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: June 22, 2018, 06:37:11 PM
1st unit online.

Starting it out at 643 MHz and no HW error so far:

Pool side view (doing BTG on MPG for now):

This thing is tiny and light compared to a S9:

No dust on this one.  Got that brand new electronics smell. Cheesy
165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: June 22, 2018, 12:40:54 PM
I have 3 Z9's inbound now as follows:

1st paid on 5/3/2018 11:33 AM
2nd paid on 5/4/2018 05:28 AM
3rd paid on 5/8/2018 04:13 AM

1st order shipped on 6/19 via DHL and handed over to USPS yesterday for delivery today
2nd order shipped on 6/21 via DHL and scheduled for delivery Tuesday
3rd order shipped on 6/22 via DHL and no delivery date yet, but I suspect Wednesday

I'm in Virginia, USA.

As far as custom duties, DHL never contacted me about having to pay anything and given that my 1st Z9 is showing out for delivery with USPS, I'm pretty sure the mail dude isn't going to try to collect anything from me.  I never had to pay anything on the L3's I ordered, but DHL did collect customs on my S9's I ordered last year.  Friend of mine (also lives in VA) ordered a S9 earlier this year and never had to pay any customs.

I did get this email this morning related to my first order however:

166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place. on: June 21, 2018, 12:51:14 PM
A gigabyte B250 fintech with 12 gpu and 64gb ram might be better bang for buck.

On a side note the Gigabyte b250 fintech is the only mining mobo with 4x ram slots, and 64gb imo is a must for rendertoken.

I tried 2 of those Fintech's and had really bad luck with them.  They don't work with PICO's (tried 3 different flavors that all work great on Asus and MSI Z270 boards).  And when using ATX PSU's, I was not able to get more than 4 or 5 1070Ti's running reliably on them under either HIVE OS or Windows.  I ran G4600 CPUs in them and both were flashed to the latest BIOS.

Sold them on eBay and barely got $60 back.  Quite a loss over what I paid for them new from NewEgg 60 days ago.  I missed the return window.

v0.5-58 HiveOS Linux GPU client
- update xmr-stak fireice-uk to v2.4.5
- small fix to SimpleRigResetter SRRv2 Watchdog
Any ETA to implement possibility of fan control depending on current GPU temperature?
Thats the only thing that annoy me a little as in my region day/night temperature drops are around 15-20C

Here you go:

https://github.com/Steambot33/HiveOS-NVIDIA-GPU-autofan-2.0

That was very annoying to me as well due to the large temp swings I see in the summer month.  Not sure why this is not baked into HIVE by default.

Hey I like that mounting system that can tilt depending on the season.  Is that something buysolar makes or does he fab those himself?
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place. on: June 12, 2018, 09:20:42 AM
The 1080tis have been flawless.

The Evga
The msi
The Corsair

All work for about 6 to 9 months set to 200 watts

That has been my experience as well.  All my 1080Ti's, be it air, hybrid or water, have been mining @ 200 watts since the day I got them without a single issue.  Re. the MSI 1070 Sea Hawk that failed, don't get me wrong, I pretty much ended up scoring a 1080 Sea Hawk for $400, so no complains on that front from me!

Thanks for the link to the overstock/auction solar panels from SEP.  ~$100 for a 230 watt panel is way better than the ~$190 I have been paying for 280/290 watt panels.  Granted they are poly-crystalline panels vs. mono, but at that price, I'm not complaining.  So you just keep an eye on that website and sometime you see deals on similar panels as low as $50 each?

Looks like they have a warehouse in Indiana.  How are their shipping rates?  I typically buy 24 or 48 panels at a time to get close to a full pallet (or two).  I also like to pick up shipments directly at the local terminal, which often saves me a little on shipping.  Very tempted to bust out another 24 panel ground array.  If I do, I'll go with just a single converter vs. micro inverters, to bring cost down even further.  I can pick up a 5,000 Watt (output) SMA Sunny Buy for around $600 shipped, which works out to about $0.10 per Watt, or $25 per panel.  Micro inverters typically run around $100 a pop.

So right around $3,000 for a 5,520 Watt array before the cost of a 24 panel Ironridge ground mount kit (about $1,300 plus locally sources 3" iron pipe) and wiring (about $200 if you make your own).  I'll check with SEP to see what their ground mount kits cost compared to what I've been paying Renvu.

this is what you most likely have

https://us.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-GTX-1080-Ti-SEA-HAWK-X

both of the above are like this one.

https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=11G-P4-6598-KR

now at one time or the other I have owned all of the above

they are all dead solid cards true troopers

Phil, I had one of the 3 MSI 1070 Sea Hawk X cards I got from you die on me almost 2 months ago.  Some sort of short that prevent the rig from powering back in.  Once I removed the failed card, all was well with the rig again.  Opened RMA with MSI and it took 6 weeks before I got the replacement.  It worked for about 2 hours, then started overheating.  It didn't even come with the fan for the radiator.  Raised a stink with MSI and they said they didn't have another 1070 Sea Hawk they could send me, and that I would have to wait until one came in.  Was able to convince them to send me a 1080 Sea Hawk instead.  Got it 3 days later and it too overheated as soon as I started mining with it.  Turns out this 2nd one had a concave mounting plate that kept the cool plate (copper part) from making contact with the GPU.  Once I fixed it, it was good to go.  The 1070 did have a failed pump, but just picked up a Corsair H55 and swapped the parts I needed to get it going again.  MSI is going to charge me $350 if I don't return the 1070, but I figured I'll just keep it since that's still a good deal for a 1070 Sea Hawk.  And of course I'm keeping the 1080 as well.

I also had a EVGA 1070 air card fail.  Their process is so much better than MSI.  Sent them the failed card and had a replacement back within a week.  And it was a brand new card one model newer than what had failed.  Compare that to a 6 week turnaround with MSI, and you get a beaten up used card back that might not work.  Needles to say, I'm going to focus on EVGA cards going forward...

Sure.  I plan to run 3 off a HP 1200W Platinum Server PSU I got off ebay for $50 (and another $20 for a 16 x 6 Pin breakout board).

That Daira is one handsome lady.

LOL!  Best laugh yet today from bitcointalk!

Sexy!  Man, I ordered 3 within 24 hours of release, guess I was not fast enough to get in early enough.  Sad  Still waiting in my shipping notification(s)....
178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: June 01, 2018, 08:02:29 PM
Here's the best I could do. I got my gf to snap one with my old S5 next to it for size comparison.

Thanks!  That's a tiny fellow.  Man your S5 looks like you worked it hard for many years and then dropped it down a mine shaft.  Cheesy
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: June 01, 2018, 06:47:29 PM
Z9 working with nicehash. Had to set the difficulty manually. Still playing with that though.

Would you mind sharing your NH BTC address so we can see what it looks like pool side?  If not, a screenshot would suffice.  Thanks!

Still like to see a pic of the unit.  I understand it has a single fan and is a lot shorter than the S9's.
180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: June 01, 2018, 05:38:45 PM
Yeah, lets get back to these not working on all pools.  So this is what we have so far:

Not working
nanopool for ZEC
suprnova for ZEC, ZCL, and BTG
slushpool for ZEC

Working
antpool what coin?

What about MPH?

What about NiceHash?
