Apparently its a simple firmware upgrade available now for the S9 from the Bitmain support page. Some testing going on now with an S9 on Kano to see if there is any noticeable improvement in hash rate or a reduction in power consumption.
Given the new firmware was given a "LPM" designation, I'm leaning towards it reducing power consumption for the same hash rate.

Thank you for the pics and reviews!

Sounds good. I'll try that when I can (in a couple days) and let you know what happens. I guess there is always the Braiins OS as well.
I’d hold off on the Braiins OS for now, its still in alpha and if the install goes wrong (no one has been able to get it working on the T1 yet) there’s no way to undo it since there’s no SD card slot. They actually recommended no one attempt it with the T1 after it was brought up that there is no SD slot.

There is a firmware from Innosilicon for the T1 you could try, can still flash back to the Halong firmwares afterwards.

Can one of you folks who have one post a picture of your machine? The one on the manufacturer's site is a CG model...

T2T 25T is listed on their web now. Guess we'll change our phrasing now. Wow, pricing is much better on the 25T version!

my 2 also arrived and i dont have any problems. just setup and i can find them with angry ip scanner. they use asicboost which is not supported on slushpool. i have to find out which pools work.
but that thing is not interesting anyways, just not efficient enough for the future...
Slushpool supports Asicboost, as do Kano and CK pools.

I run 2 S7s and 1 S7-LN at my cabin to keep it from freezing and reduce the amount of natural gas I have to buy. I have them tuned lower and the S7-LN is really quiet.
Before the R4's I had an S7-LN in there! I have it heating up one of our conference rooms now, chugging along quietly without a problem for over 2 years now. I actually used it to heat the top floor of my townhouse a couple winters ago when I lived in SLC.

I run two R4's in my small office, they're fantastic. Your only problem will be sourcing one, they're pretty hard to come by these days. There are a couple on eBay that are accepting offers, if they're willing to accept something like ~$300, with free electric your breakeven will be around April.

Where are you seeing those details?

Just noticed that a new firmware for the T2T was posted on 9/29. Any details on what changes come with this firmware?

If no relief is found by the new year then USA-based miners will almost undoubtedly miss out on the wave of next generation machines. I know that there isn't a single next-gen machine that, priced as they are today, is profitable in a year in terms of pure BTC return of capital for me (I have free power...). I will say that the 921 is an exception at the $1049 price point, yielding a 0.01BTC profit after 12 months with free power.

Hopefully the (potential) built-in PSU will be modular and simple to change/replace. Looking at my T2T, I can imagine tinkering and replacing the built-in PSU with a APW5 by removing the PCI cabling and using the bolts. I can also imagine killing my T2T this way haha. Has anyone ever replaced a built-in ASIC psu with an APWx?

who pays $.8 per kw/h?? mine is $.056 with fuel surcharge it is $.086 - still no where near what you stated. That might be why your results are all negative.
Looks like Rahar misplaced the decimal! At that rate its probably cheaper to run a gasoline generator haha. My calculation for 1 year revenue with the eco spec machine: $608 Assumptions: $0.05 per KW/h 7% difficulty increase per month 3% BTC/USD exchange rate increase per month Hopefully Triple-1's pricing will be reasonable... @braiins could you please weigh-in/respond to the questions and concerns raised so far in this thread? You specifically requested to have all discussion of your OS occur in this thread and then disappeared.

Is it minable with SHA-256 algo ASICs? Otherwise this has absolutely nothing to do with Bitcoin mining, not even tangentially.

First question: Does this work with Bitcoin ASICS or only GPU's? Your description only mentions GPU's, if this is the case then this post is in the wrong subforum.

Think you nailed it Philip, that tariff is killing demand. The extra cost makes these unprofitable in raw BTC profitability terms. Plus its hard to stomach paying a 25% tax on anything.
If I didn’t have to worry about the crazy tax on these I’d buy one in a heartbeat.
