161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Consensus 2018 crypto currency conference on: May 14, 2018, 08:59:35 AM
The relatively low price of bitcoin on the threshold of the Consensus 2018 crypto currency conference, which will be held in New York on May 14-16, is a favorable factor for further growth.
Do you agree with analysts who talk about rally bitcoin? Is there any ground for this? Or do you think that the rate does not grow from news and events?

in past the price has really grown after the consensus event, but it doesn't mean the same thing will happen this year. However regardless consensus I feel the price will be much bigger in coming weeks
162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Party's over. Go get a job, you lazy animals... on: May 14, 2018, 08:58:45 AM
Strange times we live in. Crypto speculation, YouTube views, paid content. Yet no real contribution to the human evolution. A good professional is getting harder and harder to find. This generation is full of fucks who pose on YouTube, unboxing shit, and earning 100k dollars per month. Or "great economists" who are betting on a zero-value digital coin. This is insane. Go get a fuckin job, get a degree, go invent and participate in a project that has real benefits for our technological evolution. You are chasing ghosts and the next generations will have you impaled as the idiots of human history whose only occupation was to gamble and make selfies in moronic view-hungry vlogs on the internet.

So yes, hold your currencies like your life depends on it. Shallow and boring.

BTC < 8k USD. The measure of our generation...

you're right, it even more applies to bounty hunters, not only crying about the prices, moreover also spamming the chats and forums with ridiculous questions all over again

Guys, I'd like to join the project and buy some BCA, is the project alive?

it is more than alive. YOu can also check their github, constant activity can be tracked there Smiley you will find many doubters, but same goes for bitcoin and ethereum, don't you worry about it
164  Economy / Speculation / Re: Reasons why Bitcoin is droping: on: May 14, 2018, 08:11:57 AM

Reasons why #Bitcoin is droping:

- Not a single rebrand since 2009
- No "huge news" or "strategic partnerships"
- Not enough airdrops
- Not enough PhD graduates on the team
- Team not doing bounties...
- Logo is not cool
- Satoshi is not being communicative

This was tweeted by person named Crypto Rand, what do you think about his tweet . I think these reasons always exit but Bitcoin is still very expensive, I would like to know your thoughts on this

come one! team not doing bounties? not cool logo? it's about the speculation and market manipulation. Bitcoin will grow with the same logo and without bounty, I'm wondering what you will be writing then
165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's volatility is a non-issue on: May 14, 2018, 08:10:56 AM
I know that this subject has been discussed many times before, but lest we forget when yet another conventional financial journalist, investor, money manager, perceived thought-leader et al pronounces on why Bitcoin will fail because it is too volatile to be used as a currency or store of value:

  • Each Bitcoin transaction is a zero-sum game -- one party benefits to the same extent that the other does not benefit. So one party is guaranteed always to be fine with the volatility. And neither party knows for sure (or at all) who that beneficiary will be.
  • The purchaser of a bitcoin has still spent the same amount of fiat no matter what the volatility after the purchase.
  • The premise that the aggrieved party could have done this or that instead of send someone a bitcoin that later appreciated in value has no more merit than to say that that party could have bought a stock or bond that later did well too. In each case, they simply did not have the information needed in time. Shoulda coulda woulda is not a valid argument.
  • If Bitcoin were impractical as a currency, the dark web would not use it. There would be no Bitcoin-using dark web.
  • Many things have been used as currency. Anything tradeable and of proven long-term value (like gold) or expected shorter-term value (like packs of Kent cigarettes in communist Romania) can be used as a practical currency, and have. Before WWI, travelers checks had the rate of conversion printed on them because it was expected that the gold-back currencies backing them would be stable. And so they were. The fact that fiat currencies require electronic conversion-rate signs today shows that their stability is entirely an illusion. They are not stable.

The argument that Bitcoin's volatility specifically negates its value as a store of value is clearly false as well. Stocks and commodities and their futures (as well as the effective interest rates of some bonds) are highly volatile. The mantra is that you accept their risk in exchange for growth. Fine. But volatile Bitcoin has growth potential too -- lots of growth potential. Both Bitcoin and Ethereum, as systems of decentralized, immutable, economical, sustainable, and perfectly legal data-registration means that everyone will become their own notary public. The implications for intellectual property protection are arguably beyond what we can now imagine.

Underlying all of Bitcoin's volatility is an unchanging protocol that is proven to work -- and expected to grow.

if people were to have all their money in crypto, it would be an issue. If they put just fraction of the funds there, let's say those eligible for short time spending, then it's not an issue at all
166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If "Bitcoin Core" and Bitcoin Cash bilaterally split on: May 14, 2018, 08:08:30 AM
Then why are my "Bitcoin Core" private keys able to claim all the coins Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold, Bitcoin Private, etc.?

Plus what is Bitcoin Cashic? Is that the real Bitcoin Cash?

http://bitcoinclashic.org/

there are many forks pretending to be the real coins. Same thing that bitcoin cash does to bitcoin. Few people like infamous roger ver are trying to hijack the bitcoin for his fork..

hello team, when can we expect interface for swaps to be introduced? You have many loyal supporters and investors, so please make sure not to delay the launch. Fingers crossed!

they have said very soon in the chat. I would expect it to be within 2-3 weeks max, most likely this month. When they were saying very soon before they published code and htcl api, the timeframe was usually like that
168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin destroy the world? on: May 11, 2018, 06:39:43 AM

Bitcoin mining is based on very high energy costs and environmental costs.

One bitcoin =20 barrels of oil.

How many barrels of oil do you think the industry consumes every year?

10 barrels? 50 barrel?

Each year, the mining industry consumes more than 24 terawatts of energy, the equivalent of 13,239,916 barrels of oil.

Every 10 minutes, 12.5 bitcoins are dug up, meaning 20 barrels of crude oil have been reached since each bitcoin was dug up (not yet traded).

In other words, the amount of energy consumed by the global bitcoin mining campaign is 40 times greater than the amount of energy needed to support the Visa card network.

One bitcoin transaction = one American family USES electricity a week.

According to encrypt the currency analyst Alex DE Vries estimate an index, the currency trading energy consumed each year more than 24 tw, this is equivalent to total energy consumed each year in Nigeria, which has a population of 186 million.

Currently, about 300,000 bitcoins are traded each day. Each bitcoin transaction costs 215 kilowatt-hours of energy.

The average American household USES about 901 kilowatt-hours of electricity a month, which means that each bitcoin exchange consumes enough energy to make an American family comfortable for a week.

What do you think about the energy consumption of bitcoin?

it seems like the numbers you have provided are quite exaggerated. However the main point is to focus on green efficient mining, same as goes for other segments where the substantial natural resources are consumed.
169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mining , Is it worth it? on: May 11, 2018, 06:38:27 AM
Hello guys, I have a friend who told me about BITCOIN MINING.

What do you think? Is it worth it ? Buying Hardwares / Mining Rigs and plus the TIME to be consume.
I'm not even familiar with it , so I'm probably asking for advice on for those old miners.

Electricity here in PH is so expensive. Do you have some tips and tricks?

Thanks in advance guys !  Wink

it all depends on bitcoin prices volatility at the end of the day. Because the mining power usually adjusts to the current price and rewards miners get, or some of them simply stop mining or start mining different currencies...
170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Venezuela Approves Decree on the Use of Cryptocurrencies on: May 08, 2018, 07:33:49 AM
Venezuela’s National Constituent Assembly has approved the decree on the use of cryptocurrencies and the country’s new “oil-backed” currency, after repeatedly declaring the Petro illegal. The new currency began its initial coin offering last month as the Venezuelan president continues to strongly push its use.

                                                                                    Decree on Cryptocurrencies Approved

The Venezuelan National Constituent Assembly (ANC) has approved the draft Constituent Decree on Cryptoassets and the Petro, the country’s government announced last week. The decree was presented to the ANC by Vice President Tareck El Aissami. The Superintendent of Cryptocurrency confirmed:

We are making history with the approval of the Decree on Cryptoassets and the Cryptocurrency El Petro. Nothing can stop the impulse of our country.

According to the vice president’s announcement, “this decree is intended to establish the basis for the management of these alternative mechanisms in financial and commercial activities.”
Sputnik News elaborated, “According to the document approved by the Constituent Assembly, President Nicolás Maduro will have the power to regulate the issuance, organization, and operation of the Petro,” adding that:
The purpose of the decree is to allow the use and exchange of cryptoassets by natural and legal persons, resident or not, in the territory in order to advance the economic development of the nation.
The decree would enter into force once it is published in the National Gazette, according to Cripto Noticias. It “consists of 12 articles in which the legal basis for the launch of [the] Petro and the use of cryptoassets in the Venezuelan national territory are defined, in the same way that the use [of these assets] is guaranteed,” the news outlet detailed.

The ANC has previously declared the Petro illegal and in violation of the country’s constitution. “The Adeco-bourgeois assembly took out a resolution to prevent Venezuela from having the Petro,” President Maduro expressed after the decree was passed, adding that “the Petro belongs to the Venezuelan people.”

Integrating the Petro into Venezuela’s Economy

The Petro supposedly began its initial coin offering (ICO) last month following a pre-sale, during which Maduro claims to have raised roughly $5 billion, but has yet to provide any evidence of doing so. He then announced last week, “In the next few days, I will take stock of the achievement of these 15 days of selling El Petro.”

The Venezuelan government under Maduro’s command has been actively promoting the use of the Petro. On Friday, the Superintendency of Cryptocurrency explained the guidelines for using the new currency to representatives of more than 100 shipping agencies in the country.

In addition, Maduro announced on Friday that ambulances have now been purchased using the Petro. During the reopening of the pediatric system of Rafael Medina Jiménez hospital in Vargas state, he said:

We have received 30 ambulances that we are delivering in La Guaira, Vargas state, and we have achieved [this] through agreements with companies that we have paid with Petro. Here is the key to the new ambulance that Pariata Hospital will have. It is the first ambulance obtained in Petro – I give it to you.

What do you think of Venezuela approving the decree on the use of cryptocurrencies? Let us know in the comments section below.

I'm really puzzled to see Venezuela using crypto obviously just for the gains of few people in charge there, while it will probably not affect ordinary people who need it the most. I don't think we should support venezuela by any means while the dictators misleading people are the ones really reaping the benefits..
171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is investing in bitcoins today late? on: May 08, 2018, 07:32:10 AM
In my perspective, It is not too late to invest in Bitcoin.

A very low percentage of people own Bitcoin.

Take a look around you. How many people actually have Bitcoin?

It’s a low percentage, perhaps around 4%.

Bitcoin is only owned by less than 5 million people worldwide and still has tremendous growth potential.

Everybody thought they were too late at $100, $500, $1000, $5000, and now almost $10,000.

Nobody knows the answer for sure but it’s worth researching and getting into with a small amount of money that you can afford to lose.

There's a saying in Crypto world.

Keep calm and buy bitcoin Wink

It's not too late, because we're still at the very early stage of bitcoin and blockchain. People and companies are only exploring what can be done with this whole technology. More applications mean higher growth for the whole industry, resulting in higher price of btc

How can I keep informed about Bitcoin news, insight, reviews, guides, and price analysis  on daily basis ?  Huh   Shocked
I have noticed lots of fake websites and magazines that only publish ads.  Sad

if the website publishes ads, it doesn't mean it's fake. They simply need to live of something as they don't ask you to pay for reading it. But yes, you can believe everything that is written, I recommend you to follow ccn.com and cointelegraph, they have been proven in time

On the pool, there were approximately 350K coins mined in the first 24 hours and now the difficulty has increased as it should. But yes, in first 24 hours there were close to 1M coins mined overall. Since there was only one pool, and it mined 350K coins, the rest of the coins were mined alongside the public, by the official devs which was confirmed on Telegram. And they did it alongside the public because they promised no pre mine. And the approximately 650K coins are now held by the official devs. And they are not going to dump it anytime soon. It is for the development and future costs of the project.
So IMO, when any one of the exchanges lists BCA and dep/wd open, the public might dump(on telegram the people who mined the most coins are saying that they won't sell cheap, so am guessing there won't be a huge dump) but it won't drop below $10 in my opinion and will rise up once big exchanges list and also there is Atomic Swaps coming in March-April. I see a huge potential in this project if the team fulfills their javascript:void(0);goals in the road map!

Too bad that I released my guide "How to create your bitcoin fork in 5mn, fool everybody and become rich" (https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/user-guide-how-create-your-bitcoin-fork-5mn-fool-everybody-vitte) too late for Bitcoin Atom, because apparently they missed some basic steps to really fxck everybody alone since their shxt apparently can benefit others

The code is (again) a fork of BTG with some slight modifications, a child could do this again

Anyway, I will include it in my tool, since we can't fight against stupidity, seriously don't you see all of you that this stuff is a complete scam?

Of course, don't use their wallet

Many thanks for link to ...How to create your bitcoin fork in...

that is an utter nonsense. I definitely support critical thinking, but also it's hard to be watching people slating the projects before studying it and letting the team to deliver. Hybrid consensus is already the algo much different from original bitcoin pow, not speaking about atom swaps already working. yet someone comes here and tells the work has not been done. If you're to share your opinions, do the proper research first..
174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin digital gold? on: May 07, 2018, 07:27:35 AM
Bitcoin definitely is the digital gold, there is no other coins that can take over bitcoin place. Bitcoin's technologies and special features make it very famous and it is the first coins success to be well known by others. That 's why i think it is the digital gold.

bitcoin has absolutely amazing features comparing to technologies that were before it. However the features implemented in new cryptocurrencies are already more advanced than what bitcoin can offer.
175  Economy / Speculation / Re: Chinese Investor bought 10,000 bitcoin during the dip! on: May 07, 2018, 07:23:37 AM
this is how you do it. Everyone is panic selling, you take an advantage of that and buy the dip. This is what mature investor would do, benefiting from noobs and their emotional fud based sales...

Hey guyz
I am complete noob in crypto. I need to know what is a blockchain? How to use it and what if it goes offline? What affects it will occur on bitcoin.

I have tried understanding it but it looks very complex There may be a simpler way to understand it guys

Thanks for the help

blockchain is a public ledger consisting of blocks. Everyone can see what is inside the blocks, therefore it's completely transparent. It's the main technology behind the bitcoin currency.
177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Why are bounty hunters guilty? on: May 06, 2018, 05:41:58 PM
Why are bounty hunters guilty?
Why do they say that bounty hunters have lowered the rate, and investors can not even return the money they invested? I think that if the project is honest, this situation is unacceptable, since hunters get a percentage from ICO, and the project team must redeem their token or coin!

it is true that bounty hunters mostly, not always, just sell the tokens immediately when they get for no matter what price. They claim they need the money desperately, but if they managed to hold for some time, they could getter good profit and help the project short term.

I also want to make cryptocurrency my full time job, but I think it cannot supply my famliy expenses because its unpredictable, I just use this as an alternative for my earnings.

you're right. Unless you have decent savings to put aside in case the things don't go well, don't do it. If you're willing to work hard enough, then you can do crypto as side job first and see
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Etheruem [ETH] prices are soaring high – will the bull trend continue? on: May 06, 2018, 09:42:13 AM
Etherum prices continue to rise as it almost reaches towards $1000 a coin. The cryptocurrency market is currently rising back up to the late 2017 prices, as even Bitcoin almost reached $10,000.
According to CoinMarketCap, Etherum is currently ranked at 2 in the crypto-rankings with a market cap of $82,034,301,592 and a volume of $3,255,700,000. Etherum is currently trading at $826.57 and has seen a significant growth rate of 3.65% over the past 24 hours.
Etherum was around $88 before it cost more than $1000 in December 2017. Later, the price of Etherum declined to around $500. With the slow rise in price over the past few months, investors are getting a favorable entry opportunity. The market volatility has also reduced in the past few days.
Market speculators believe that the rise of the coin might be due to the announcement made by Vitalik Buterin, the Founder of Ethereum regarding the sharding, positive remarks about the coin by the big guns and Vitalik showing his support on Twitter towards Ethereum Classic by quoting Anthony Lusardi’s speech during at EDCON and slightly hinting towards working with the ETC team.

ethereum devs and community is absolutely amazing in my opinion. It's probably the coin with biggest long term potential of gains as it already has proved itself while it's still only in beta
180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Dogecoin have a future? on: May 06, 2018, 09:39:35 AM
Dogecoin has been my favorite alt coin for quite a long time. It serves as a good cryptocurrency for tipping others, as well as being a fun and inexpensive medium of exchange.

However, I'm worried what might happen to Dogecoin in the future, since it has been quite some time that no new version of the QT wallet has been mentioned, neither some innovation to keep it going for the long term.

It would become ideal for Dogecoin to add SegWit to its code, and gain traction if it gains acceptance from the miners. Then, if it manages to become the first cryptocurrency to accept the scalable solution, it could rise in popularity once more (not to mention that transaction will be near instantaneous).

Nevertheless, Dogecoin is a great cryptocurrency being inexpensive and relatively stable, making it a great way to tip others or send micropayments faster than BTC at a fraction of the cost.

Looking forward to your opinion. Wink

I'm worried about dogecoin since its founder got annoyed and left the project and whole crypto industry. Who should believe in the project if not its founder? Cheesy but if the community is strong, then it surely has some chance
