161  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A place where they trade using PayPal? on: May 01, 2011, 06:21:29 PM
I am just wondering - between all places accepting Paypal there is a huge number of trustworthy members. If we:

- get all Paypal email addresses from mndrix that he knows are honest
- get all OTC rating incorporated into the exchange
- get all people having very good forum reputation (from the honest members thread)
- get all people from bitcoinmarket who use Paypal and are honest

We could alter bitmarket to only accept Paypal from these people - and then the sellers would feel comfortable selling for Paypal, because they would know the buyers are verified.

Either that or in order to use Paypal on bitmarket as a buyer you would have to get verified (phonecall, activation code or something similar).

Of course, I don't think this is possible for the simple reason that mndrix and bitcoinmarket are not in a position to disclose such information. But in theory, this could yield in a big OTC portal where Paypal and its chargebacks would not be an issue. Also, we would introduce a rating system.
162  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox - too many connections on: May 01, 2011, 06:02:09 PM
I have nothing against Russia. I have a lot of friends there and my wife used to live there for a few years. However, the fact is that vast majority of spam and scam comes from there. That is a fact - logs don't lie.

I am sure you actually believe this and that you aren't intentionally trying to mislead anyone. But more spam comes from the USA than Russia. Indeed, USA is the originator of the vast majority of the spam in the world according to some sources.

Please be careful when generalising.

OKay Sir, I stand corrected.

Still, 9 of 10 spaming IPs invading my own servers come from Russia. They probably just love Ireland.

This is usually caused by an incorrect SDK version. Which one are you using?
164  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox - too many connections on: May 01, 2011, 05:10:57 PM
Somehow I really dislike seeing that whole russian-bashing.
We have an international market. We have an international currency. We have international people.

165  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BitMarket.eu - should we accept USD? on: May 01, 2011, 03:17:47 PM
I think one of the biggest advantages would be that we would be operating under EU laws, not US laws. So even if the USA government decides to try and shut down our exchange they won't be able to do anything.

Actually, I don't undetstand why bitcoin-central never actually took off on a larger scale? The trades there are liquid and they accept deposits. Any idea?
166  Economy / Trading Discussion / BitMarket.eu - should we accept USD? (USD added) on: May 01, 2011, 02:52:56 PM
We are considering adding support for USD to BitMarket.eu. Does anyone know how expensive it is to transfer USD onto an European account? Would this help the US users in any way or should we not bother? Thanks for any advice/suggestion.

EDIT: We don't want to open a bank account in the USA, but we can open an European one accepting USD.
167  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: now with coinpal shut down how do you guys transfer your money out of your coins on: May 01, 2011, 02:49:29 PM
No question actually cashing out via mtgox is a pain: it's mtgox to liberty reserve, liberty reserve to some LR buyer, then to actual cash.
You may find it easiest to cash out of MtGox by selling your MtGox USD for PayPal or something else at #bitcoin-otc.

Exaclty, I have never transfered money in or out to mtgox. I either bought mtgox USD for Paypal, or sold it for Paypal. It works great.

EDIT: Anyone knows how much it is to transfer money from USA to Europe? We are considering adding USD to BitMarket.eu. Would that make any sense for people living in the US?
168  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Earn 131BTC or 12-13BTC for getting shops/organisations to accept Bitcoin! on: May 01, 2011, 12:06:24 PM
I will try to convince the owner of http://accessfirefox.org/ to accept BitCoin donations - he's a good friend of mine and I help him out with technical issues for his site. The site focuses on accessibility features and add-ons for Firefox - the owner himself is visually impaired, yet still managed to build that site!

If there is still a bounty for convincing sites to accept bitcoins, I will donate it to AccessFirefox or ask it to be donated directly to AccessFirefox.

Unfortunately the site has a pagerank of 0, so no bounty. Still, thanks for your effort.

Nope, it has Pagerank of 6.

Oops, sorry! I have used some other website than usual (because http://www.prchecker.info/check_page_rank.php was down) to check the pagerank - I thought they were all using the same reference. Apologies man, I shall transfer the bounty straight away.

Undecided seems that ALL of you FAIL to understand eastern europeans' sarcasm Undecided

By the way, I am announcing collecting donations for the ddos of mtgox for decreasing exchange rates!

haxorz! please send letter to support@btcex.com and give your money for that work!

I am from Eastern Europe and I still don't get it, товарищ.

On bitcoin.ie/forum I have 5-6 bot attempts daily from Russian IPs to register and post spam. I was forced to switch to manual registrations and I am seriously considering blocking all Russian IP ranges at this stage. Parhaps mtgox should do the same?
171  Economy / Marketplace / Re: CoinPal beta - Buying bitcoins with PayPal on: May 01, 2011, 10:14:09 AM
@mndrix if you end up filing a lawsuit against Paypal I will be more than happy to toss a few thousands of BTC to support your case (or EUR should that be more useful).
172  Economy / Marketplace / Re: CoinPal beta - Buying bitcoins with PayPal on: May 01, 2011, 10:11:27 AM
otc needs a web interface. irc isn't for everyone  Tongue

BitMarket.eu is going to become one in a week or so, we have already spoken about that.

EDIT: Some major changes are being done to the website, including incorporation of the otc-ratings.

I will try my best @ shinjiru.com! This is a big hoster in malaysia which offers anonymous hosting. Bitcoin would be perfect! Edit: Pagerank is 5!

That's great. Just keep in mind this is not eligible for the 125 BTC because it is not a physical good.
174  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Earn 144BTC or 5BTC for getting shops/organisations to accept Bitcoin! on: April 29, 2011, 12:11:52 PM
Due to the price of Bitcoin going up recently I am lowering my pledge to 5 BTC per shop and 2 BTC per organisation.

I also updated the sheet and pledges, if anyone sees any mistakes please let me know. Thanks.

Yes, only PR4 but we are offering small hosting solutions since 2007/2008. It's more on the local scale, though.

I'm working on getting http://projectzomboid.com/blog/ setup with bitcoin for their game! You can check out the conversation on twitter @gburgwardt and @lemmy101

Granted I didn't pique their interest, but I'm helping with integration and explanation I suppose? Anyone that wants to tip can either tip me or check out their game, it looks good!

Again, this has a pagerank of 0. Please check before posting next time.

I emailed deathsquad.tv and alt-market.com.

Guys, can you please check the pagerank before you post. I am wasting my time only to find out they don't meet the criteria.

These to are 1 and 0, so they don't qualify.
