162  Economy / Gambling / Re: More events added at BTCSportsBet.com !! on: July 07, 2011, 02:57:42 AM
Thanks....The 12 limit is from a locked down CSS that the site was built on. Will be adjusted in the near future.

Please pass along suggestions for additional leagues/sports. This is the slow time of year but we can probably expand a bit.  Grin

Good luck with your action!
163  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambling Directory on: July 06, 2011, 02:34:44 AM

164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Today I stimulate the economy on: July 04, 2011, 02:18:28 AM
I've been gambling BTC all afternoon.  Maybe not economy stimulating, but is IS fun.  Smiley

I just discovered the "gambling" sub forum today.  Now I'm in trouble.

I suggest betting on Sports where you don't have to worry about rigged code  Grin

See my sig...

Good stuff Steve, making bitcoin payments that are transparent in USD for merchants is a huge step!

Well done.
166  Economy / Gambling / Re: Starcraft 2 Tournament on: July 03, 2011, 04:41:07 PM
You'd be surprised about TL and bitcoins:

I sponsored a tournament on TL (with prize in bitcoins) and they were ok with it. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=190866

Pretty funny that he 25 BTC prize for 5th to 8th is now worth more than 2nd place of that tournament, haha.

And if you want to bet on GSL, check out BTCSportsBet.com   Grin

168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Watching Tradehill prices closely... on: June 25, 2011, 04:27:47 PM
I think we're going to see prices drop into the $7-$9 range.

You want to buy lower too, eh.

I think it's going to drop to $1 !

So I can buy a ton! C'mon panic!
169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm Kevin, here's my side. on: June 20, 2011, 09:18:08 PM
You stole 643 btc. Congrats.

Every major exchange breaks trades. Too bad for you, consider yourself lucky if you don't get sued for the 643 btc.

Every major exchange has written policies saying when breaks will happen. MtGox specifically said they weren't a party to the trades, and had no policy for doing so.

I also haven't said what I would do with that 643.

Most exchanges have a general rule about 'clearly erroneous trades' - this is usually defined as 20%+ away from recent activity. Trades at .011 clearly fall under this globally accepted guideline.

Mtgox is charged with running a fair and orderly exchange. That obv did not happen here and he has no choice but to correct it. Again, you have balls asking for the rest after taking 643 btc.

171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kevin Day, New Bitcoin Multimillionaire worth 5 Million dollars on: June 20, 2011, 07:05:35 PM
Of course they are being rolled back. Every exchange has and will continue to break trades like this..they all have rules about 'clearly erroneous' trades.

NYSE, Nasdaq - all of them have broken trades and will do so again. This is super standard, but I guess people not used to trading other assets on exchanges would not understand this.
172  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best Place For BTC Reference Prices (Bid and Ask) on: June 20, 2011, 02:28:58 PM
Trade Hill will not open before mtgox...They have that 'Buy now' feature and have no idea where to set the buy/sell prices. They could get killed.
173  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Poll: How long will these jackpot games last? on: June 19, 2011, 04:05:34 PM
Unlikely, as there will always be a trust issue and shady code.

That's why things like sportsbetting - where results are independently verifiable - will be more popular going forward.

Sports can be rigged, but not by code, only by refs or players  Grin

176  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: My concerns with Bitcoin7 and Tradehill on: June 16, 2011, 01:07:55 PM
I'm sure they are fine for small amounts.

But the fact the mtgox has a strong track record and many months of history handling 5figure + amounts smoothly - it will be a long, long time (if ever), before one of these new exchanges builds up that level of trust.
177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: theymos deserves a big kudos! on: June 15, 2011, 02:39:25 PM
theymos is good people, have dealt with him many times.

That said, if you are remotely worried about something like this, you should already be using VPNs and anon web-proxies
178  Economy / Marketplace / Re: MtGox supports Dwolla on: June 10, 2011, 04:03:27 PM
very glad to hear for you guys.. mine didn't get thru (send another email per the reddit).
179  Economy / Marketplace / Re: MtGox supports Dwolla on: June 10, 2011, 02:23:36 PM
What I'd like to see is - obviously not everyone there can be working on the issue, only the coding geeks or MT himself - start processing them manually already.

Even with a very generous 1 withdraw request completed per minute 1 person could knock out 500/day. Granted it would not fix the situation long term, but at least it would give 500 people some satisfaction and relief (and would probably comfort everyone else too - by seeing the reports from the happy 500). It's been almost a week and nothing should have higher priority than processing deposits and withdrawals.
180  Economy / Marketplace / Re: MtGox supports Dwolla on: June 10, 2011, 01:32:45 PM
Well it's late Friday night in Japan and no update here or on the reddit. sigh.
