welcome aura to the top 100. Really excited to see what will follow

Actually coinmarketcap doesn't even calculate the correct supply of Auroracoin. They base they base the market cap on 2.5 million total supply while the actual supply is closer to 6.5 million. Smiley

Btw, Skarfur, could you give some kind of update, what progress is being made on the workfloor in Iceland?

Sure. Smiley

  • First of all is that we have formed a new dev group that will be making its official takeover and announcement soon.
  • We have established the Icelandic Auroracoin foundation.
  • The first auroracoin / isk exchange in Iceland will be ready very soon.
  • The dev group has been working hard on updating the core but more details on that and a roadmap will be presented in the official announcement.
  • An official Auroracoin foundation website will be launched in the next days.
  • We are also preparing a new official coin site.

This is just small part of the work that is being done and more people are joining in on the work every day. I could go on and on here about details but I think it's best to let the work speak for itself. There is also a lot of good information and discussion on auroraspjall.is, you should check it out.

Balduro delivered all what he promissed. Do we need a "coup d'etat" after the airdrop? Does this make a good story for the coin?
I might be wrong but I suspect the reason why the premined coins are not burned is the lack of Auroracoin Foundation or the initialy proposed Icelandic Criptocurrency Society.
The foundation was a part of the plan right from the begining (one year ago) and I hope will be established soon.
Ask yourself why the coins are not burned yet?

The Auroracoin Foundation (Aurarįš in Icelandic) was created last Sunday. I think Skarfurinn will file in the papers to the government registry tomorrow or perhaps he filed them today, not sure.

The foundation papers have been submitted and I have gotten a verification that they are being processed. Smiley

No community here, just people waiting for somebody to do all the work for them. I will stay tuned for your progress and lets see if your development team delivers.

LOL Well at least you admit it!  Grin
Very funny, indeed! Smiley))

Wow! this could be bct's slogan "No community here, just people waiting for somebody to do all the work for them". Smiley

Is there a place where I can find coin characteristics? (Mainly max coins in existence, now and in the future, when they are all mined)

Total amount of coins will be 21 million. 10.5 million coins were premined and about 50% of those are now in circulation. I estimate that mined coins till now are roughly 2.5 million so about 7.5-8 million are in circulation. The rest of the premine is currently held by Balduro and we are expecting him to destroy the rest of the coins in the next days. These are rough estimates but I'll be working soon towards getting a more accurate number.

my bitcoin-abe says "coins created: 11,945,138 AUR". I guess this is premined plus regularly mined up to now. So mined coins till now is more like 1.5 million if this is correct.

Thank you, so if I'm correct there will be about 7.5 millions AUR left to mine.

9 million left to mine according to my info.

Molecular is correct on this. Mined coins are closer to 1.5 million.

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/aur/address.dws?174175.htm

As someone who didn't follow Aurora extensively all year what was the #1 wallet address for with the 1 million coins? Is it one of the premines?

Someone deposited 1 coin into it yesterday.

These were the original premine addresses.

does anyone have a list of working nodes AND/OR a link to the compiled wallet QT client?

details on the front page are not working.

thanks in advance

I'm working on this now. I will post the node list and the compiled QT clients on the auroraspjall.is forum. I'll post here when this is done.
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: March 24, 2015, 11:31:44 PM

Not just that. Auroracoin.org now redirects to auroraspjall.is.
This is good news!

@skarfur: I'm offering help with testing / looking over code etc...

That is great molecular!
We need all the help we can get. We need to do this properly.

I will let you guys know when we are ready for testing.
171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: March 17, 2015, 11:57:02 AM

for fucks sake! difficulty 654. That's somewhat extreme, we might be stuck here for a long time.

I'm throwing hashpower at it, but it's expensive currently (three times as expensive as 2 days ago) and my willingness to spend much on this is limited, especially because this problem seems to come back harder every time...

Just send me a message if this gets too much, I will chip in with you to pay for the mining rigs.
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: March 16, 2015, 10:36:10 AM
I'm working on updating Auroracoin from the current core to the latest bitcoin core with a better difficulty retargeting implemented. That should take care of these kind of problems.

what kind of (or whcih) difficulty retargeting algorithm are you planning to use?

The plan is to use DigiShield.

Great. I read an overview and it sure sounds like it fixes exactly the problems we have (multipools mainly)

How do you plan to roll it out? It's a hard-fork, right? So it means we need at least the exchange(s), pools and blockexplorers on board and also make a big fuzz so users will update...

I think that DigiShield should fix one of the main problems we are having here and that is the multipools like you pointed out. Beside that the new bitcoin core also prevents various possible attacks on the network that the coin is vulnerable to now.

Yes it's a hard fork and we need all the pools, exchanges and blockexplorers on board

My estimate is that the code will be ready with basic testing in 10-14 days. Then it is just a question on how much we want to run it in testing before we officially launch it. I assume that it won't be easy to get everyone to update in sync but since we are very small atm this is the perfect time to do this in my opinion.

The thing is that this might not be the only hard fork we might need to do. I was hoping that we would not need to hard fork more than once but it might be that we will have to as these stalls are a serious threat to the coin. Other reasons to hard fork might be to take over the premine addresses (highly undesired but necessary if balduro doesn't burn the premine), Merge mine with some other coin/s if we can't get large pools to merge mine our coin or to implement a PoS along with PoW if merge mining will be off the table for some reason.

I say we merge-mine with BTC and be done with this issue.
What would be advantage of merge mining with BTC? Do we have to find some agreement with majority of BTC miners or there is no need for agreement, as any coin (if majority decide) may go for merge mining with Bitcoin? Just curious.

We have been in contact with Ghash.io to get them to merge mine Auroracoin with Bitcoin. That would not require any changes to any core code nor would you need anyone to agree on it as it does not affect the Bitcoin mining for anyone, they would just get the mined aur as extra and I can't really see why anyone would object to getting any coin extra without any extra cost. Ghash has done this with a couple of other coins before and this only requires Ghash to change the miners on their end.

We have not gotten any definite answer but the response from them has been positive.

This of course goes hand in hand with us updating the Auroracoin core to the latest Bitcoin core and that is well on it's way already and will be launched regardless if we mine with Ghash or what algorithm we would choose for the coin (if not merge mined with Ghash).

On a side note the exchange should see the day of light in just over a month. The project is finally coming quite well along now after some long delays in the beginning. I will update you guys later when we have a launch date which we should have in 2-3 weeks.

Then for anyone that was wondering about the foundation then it has been delayed a bit. I've been doing most of the necessary work go get it established but recently I had platoon of the flu parading through my home lately so I've been away from work lately. I'm back now and I will continue this work as soon as I get my workload down at my work.

So for those who are wondering, things are still moving forward.  Smiley

Website is up at auroracoin.io

However this doesn't given access to the airdrop.

How the f..k is the airdrop still in progress?

http://blockexplorer.auroracoin.eu/tx/04c6e0874a46541b145167848249c7ee50a053820f3c5acc9d3643b1f4623e76

Was the airdrop done directly from auroracoin.org? Is the server still up? What was its IP-Address? Does it have an alternative name?

Was wondering the same.

Done all the digging I could and it all ends at Cloudflare and cloud flare doesn't allow direct IP access. I assume it's still up and running but I don't know if it has another access to it. Like from an alternate domain.

    • Renew the domain
    • Hand over the domain to the group
    • Give the group a link to the claim site that we can use from a new website we are making
    • burn the rest of the premine.

I agree with these points. However the first two are far less important then the last 2.

The premine needs to be destroyed... on schedule or earlier.

Yes I completely agree. The premine being destroyed is the single most important thing that needs to happen.[/list]
