Total amount of coins will be 21 million. 10.5 million coins were premined and about 50% of those are now in circulation. I estimate that mined coins till now are roughly 2.5 million so about 7.5-8 million are in circulation. The rest of the premine is currently held by Balduro and we are expecting him to destroy the rest of the coins in the next days. These are rough estimates but I'll be working soon towards getting a more accurate number.

Molecular is correct on this. Mined coins are closer to 1.5 million.

The Developer still has a lot of coins and will wait for others to build the coin up for him to cash out when the price is right. I am a avid fan of country coins but all these 50% premine ones turned out to be scams. Luckily for him he has people that will try make this coin a success. Good luck making the dev rich.

Yes, Balduro has left the scene and has chosen to remain silent. This can be worrisome to say the least. On the other hand, he has been a man of his word avery step of the way and the only thing that remains is for him to act upon his promise to destroy the remaining pre-mined coins.

The beauty of it all is, that we don't really need him to do this anymore. There is a new DEV team already working very hard to take over this magnificent project. The first step will be a hard fork where the pre-mine will be destroyed for Balduro if he doesn't keep his promise. This is the power that lies within the community and, the way I see it, also what Balduro has been anticipating all along.

The government is putting forth ideas regarding changing the monetary system. If this goes through, banks will no longer be able to create money out of thin air, but they are trusting the Central bank to do the money printing and then the government will spend the money into the economy.

I'm not sure if this is in the right direction or not. This kind of system will only move the money printing corruption into the political arena, where politicians pick the people who decide how much money the Central bank should print and then they, the politicians, spend it into the economy.

This shows that radical ideas are being discussed in parliament and within the government to change the monetary system. This of course will take a few years to be discussed in parliament, but shows that our ideas of using Auroracoin to implement these changes are not just ideas of a few nuts.
