161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: GuptiMiner: Malware that attack AV and plant crypto miners and crypto wallets on: April 25, 2024, 01:38:37 PM
This is one significant draw back of closed source software while I don't think the open sources anti virus are better than the close source since majority tends to use the closed source Anti-Virus.

eScan has a good trust rating but It will be better to use more trusted source or platform that's more well known, when one doesn't have a better open source alternative.

But I think the dev team has worked to do In order to avoid  issues like this next time. Also we should not take any changes we notice on our device likely especially relating to additional files being downloaded, which we are unaware of even if they're not looking malicious.
162  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: I miss Faucets on: April 25, 2024, 09:57:14 AM

I remember hearing about a website that gave you an entire bitcoin and all you had to do was just solve a captcha and it was sent to the wallet.

Someone shared link about here on this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5494110.msg63989690#msg63989690
This was the first ever bitcoin faucet and was created by Gavin Andresen

There are many free airdrops and altcoins worth less than $100, yet no one wants to invest in them.
If you go back to the past, you will definitely not buy Bitcoin. Therefore, forget the past and focus on what is coming, as Bitcoin may reach the price of $400,000.

There are still free airdrops for altcoins but majority has already given up on bounties and Airdrop since majority are just scam projects or paying little or nothing on task completed. Being paid in bitcoin or investing in bitcoin seems more like the easiest way of accumulating more bitcoin now.

It's just like how getting Gold was much more easier in the 90s and way back than now.
163  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: April 24, 2024, 10:58:52 PM

It is becoming more real and I can say that it is now a reality that Liverpool is going trophyless this season. This season is quiet interesting because I way expected that the manager of Liverpool will wave goodbye to the club by giving them major title of English Premier League or Europa League. Certainly they had the opportunity to feature in both but he did not make his permutations well. I wonder how the boys will feel and how himself will feel at the end of the season. It is clear that Manchester City is the most favorite currently the win the English Premier League because Arsenal as we know can never be trusted.

Wayne Rooney actually did said it earlier today that the best parting gifts that the Evertonian’s will give Klopp is ending his title hopes as per rivals and that just went on to happen today. I personally think it is over for them to win anything this season again, from a quadruple anticipation to going trophyless. The title challenge now is between Manchester city and Arsenal. Yes City have an advantage over Arsenal because they have more or less top clubs in their remaining fixtures. But it doesn’t matter the games or clubs they face now as almost all clubs are same in terms of performance. That’s why I haven’t rule out City dropping points yet out.
I can now really say this was not how Klopp pictured his final season as a Liverpool coach and it's actually disappointing especially from the kind of momentum they started this season but how they fair in the Europa league generally shows their inconsistency which as cost this title. Wayne Rooney might have not believed this will happen.
While the title race is between City and Arsenal, I still think the gunners have more possibility of dropping points since City are more Stronger during season ending.

In the other hand Manchester United has also lost their chances of going to the European competition this season. There fixtures these days are easy, assuming they did well in the past month, they would have done well to go Europe.

Manchester United Blew away the opportunity to claim top four right from the draw against Brentford. A win would have given them momentum and also closed gaps. Then they went on to lose and draw to Chelsea and Liverpool respectively from a winning position. They were carried away with the belief that a fifth place would be given a champions league too but sadly it wasn’t

Their lost against Chelsea was inevitable since Chelsea was the better team and they actually tried in their come back that was to no avail while against Liverpool I think they did a good job because I never expected them to beat Liverpool especially when Liverpool where still title favorites at that time and even defeating them twice In a role, Manchester united didn't have a good season so finishing 5th is good for them and is not like they can do anything when they get to champions league, just like we experienced in recent seasons
164  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 24, 2024, 10:36:21 PM
Liverpool…Bitcoin
Have seen better Wednesday’s.
Future is bright though.

Don't tell me you're a Liverpool fan, how disappointing the first season I tried to support them for the league they turned to  complete mess now

https://www.coindesk.com/policy/2024/04/24/samourai-wallet-founders-arrested-and-charged-with-money-laundering/

Well this is shit... the war on privacy continues.

Probably the reason for our dip today too
This is totally disappointing, more privacy aid are going down, they probably will go for other conjoined wallet and after that non KYC exchanges in order to make tainted bitcoin seems possible
165  Economy / Reputation / Re: Happy to be back! on: April 24, 2024, 10:17:01 PM

-snip-
So my account was lost in 2015 and was taken over in 2017 I guess

Actually base on https://bpip.org/Profile?id=97501, there wasn't a time when this account was inactive before it got banned, I guessed this your time frame might be wrong.

@Xal0lex, this user might be telling the truth, I was able to get info on all the addresses this user old account used earlier before his claim hack 2015 from https://ninjastic.space/addresses?author=Scooby903 and none of the older address before 2015 were among the addresses used for the bounty cheating  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2544574.msg37872632#msg37872632, but this may not hold solid ground because all except one of the older address before the claim hack was all bitcoin address. While when I try tracing through bitcoin Explorer I still couldn't get a connection between these accounts though more professionals to blockchain explorer may try to verify also.

-Snip-
But the problem is he never reported about the account hack as soon as possible, and then probably the person who was in control of the account afterward stalked an address in 2017.

There are also some bitcoin address he used earlier around 2013 and he could use this address 13R87ropkDKzDEuVeQoX64kkcLvPWVdTKH, which is among one of them, though this user not reporting this account earlier somehow makes this suspicious especially from the fact that he possibly have an alt and I will Like Op to explain the reason for this

166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hal Finney wins award for his contribution to Bitcoin development! on: April 24, 2024, 07:30:07 PM
I find it's interesting they split it into 4 year range. Although i hope award for next time range will mention list of the candidate.
I will prefer this also, which will be for a better transparency and makes it easier for us to understand the reasons they picked each winners

Wow I never knew Gavin once supported CW, which I would say was more disappointing than the first.
~snip~

I believe Craig Steven Wright is the person who invented Bitcoin.
I was flown to London to meet Dr. Wright a couple of weeks ago, after an initial email conversation convinced me that there was a very good chance he was the same person I’d communicated with in 2010 and early 2011. After spending time with him I am convinced beyond a reasonable doubt: Craig Wright is Satoshi.

This is something that everyone should know because it shows how bad someone as a person is in evaluating other people, not to say naive enough to believe in fairy tales.

In addition, that link also shows it took almost 7 years to admit that he was wrong. But considering it's when CSW/faketoshi start to lose his momentum along with he communicated with Satoshi in past, some people speculate he was bribed by CSW/faketoshi and later decide to leave the "sinking ship".

Wow almost 7 years to accept a clear truth, I seriously need to go know more about the whole CW drama because I can see this was really serious when it really started and now understand why many BTT og were really following the court case earlier this year.

He had a meeting with him and then he believed CW, I will only believe that this is not bribery if there are other individuals who ever communicated with Satoshi before he left that believes CW claims with him or else it's a pretty obvious bribe
167  Other / Meta / Re: Post per day/ per month falling. on: April 24, 2024, 04:20:59 PM

Registered accounts don't make much sense if we take into account the number of quality members on both forums. Regardless of members who "teleported" to another forum and members who have been there before, I think that BTT is still far ahead when it comes to the number of quality members, and therefore the content they create.
Yes but with time they maybe having the same traffic as BTT, though I will have to agree that before this will happen their content quality have to improve but this is from the fact that before mixers move there, they were having little or no traffic, since we can see there that most thread posted there for years just recently got reply which some are mainly from the teleported members from here. Also majority of the teleported members from here has  really been influencing other members at altcoinstalks to improve their post quality and it will bring more traffic in the long run.

Quote

The pay rates on the other forum are still almost half as much as here, and at the moment I don't see that there will be any big increase - because top mixers used to pay $200 + per week for 30-35 posts on BTT, and now they pay about $50 for the same number of posts on another forum. If they could raise it to at least $100+ per week, I'm sure they would attract more quality members from this forum.

Hmm I guessed they increasing the pay will also bring more traffic since it will not just attract quality posters here but improve post quality generally. I usually thought if the traffic increases the pay will increase but I now can see that the pay influences the traffic even more.

Well I do two signatures. One here and one on altcoinstalks

I post like mad because thats what I do.

I likely now am posting 15-20 posts a day on the two
You have always been the beast in posting except against ChartBuddy lol, I still remember how many times joker_josue tried to catch up with you, when both of you were still in same campaign.

Quote

But I always did just a signature. When I did do a campaign.

Think of a quality signature thief.

When mixers were good he or she may have had 5 mixers with 5 alts making $750 a week.

If you really ran signature farms well and made 750-1500 a week.

You are far less likely to switch all of that to altcointalks as the mixers will pay about 40 and account

or 200-400 a week.

So I think some major signature farms are gone. This would drop us way down in posts.
Aside this fact another thing that limits this is from the fact that Altcoinstalks is centralize and the admin will not hold back in flagging such accounts.

Quote

I am lazy and a lot of info on the old mixer threads was stripped so researching exactly how many mixker signature posts existed here and how many move to altcointalks is too much work for me to do.
I could only find a thread about this at altcoinstalks, containing both mixers info of this at ALT and BTT LIST - Bitcoin mixers & Tumbler services! ✅✅

Quote

But getting paid 40 a week vs 150 a week for a cheater with 10 accounts

means 400 vs 1500 a week . So some may have just dropped off. From bitcointalk.
This will be a total turn off and after the mixer banned things really became difficult here for them, I guessed that's why there where quite more threads about account selling and buying here this year.

169  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria’s central bank forced to deny claims of crypto account freeze on: April 24, 2024, 02:46:45 PM
It was on the news that CBN first denied it on X but later deleted the denial. But some hours later the CBN claimed that the allegation is not false.

Base on the link you shared and what's currently on their X page I think you meant False.
Confusion occurred when the central bank denied the story on X but then deleted the denial. Some hours later they claimed the allegations were indeed false.

But after the $10 billion fine against binance drama, I believe there is an atom of truth here though they claim it's false. Actually the crypto regulations in Nigeria must be one of the most annoying, the government should just pick their stand and then we know how we Will do our things because either ways the government can't stop us though the adoption growth will be affected but Thank God for decentralized platforms we will move on.
170  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Can govt. be more transparent if Blockchain Technology was to be adopted? on: April 24, 2024, 12:47:09 PM
Don't you think that introducing the Blockchain Technology or something similar will make government become more transparent since the revenues that are generated and it's expenditures will be visible to all in the Blockchain? Let's discuss
The government are corrupt and this is not just in Nigeria all over the world and no government will ever want this and that's why they are always against Bitcoin because it's decentralized and they can't control it.

Government will always want to have control of everything in the country, so that they can manipulate anything in their Favour and this is what we do see in the devaluation of our naira. Though they may always support blockchain projects but if it will be use for transparency against them they will be kick against it because of their manipulative schemes
171  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Local Board Moderator; Your honest feedback here. on: April 24, 2024, 08:32:53 AM
I'm totally in support of this, we really need our own local Moderator and this your thread Report Spammers, Spambots and AI Posts Here. was really helpful in reducing spammers especially earlier this year especially from the fact that we suffered from their nuisance late last year. I hope Theymos considered you for this position.
172  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Premier League 2023/2024 Discussion Thread ⚽ on: April 23, 2024, 10:24:28 PM
Chelsea is always good while plying big teams despite their poor form and inconsistency.
Chelsea fans will think that after playing a draw in the first leg against Arsenal can also get similar results since they know that Arsenal is in a pressure of winning all their matches because of the title race.
NO. Chelsea didn't always play good against big teams. If you checked the history of Chelsea matches, they are defeated several times by big teams.
1. Defeated by Liverpool in EFL Cup final
2. Defeated by Man City in FA Cup semi-final
3. Defeated by Arsenal in EPL matchday 29

Well, it is true that Arsenal sometime played inconsistently but other teams in EPL also did it. It is not easy to play consistently in the whole season. However, it is great that Arsenal is leading again the EPL standings after they defeated Chelsea with 5 goals today.
Chelsea this season as been inconsistent even against the big teams and majority of the issues here is from Poch, who usually fails to make the right changes or use the right formation, his strategy is sub-par, no hope on him succeeding at Chelsea if only Blind Todd can see and get a better management staff for the club.

Quote
At the end, Arsenal won the match with an unexpected score line; 5-0 is very big for team like Chelsea.
If we are talking Chelsea in Roman Abramovich era, Chelsea is surely a big team. Winning against them with 5 goals will be a great achievement. But Chelsea is just an average team now. I think it is just a normal win, scoring 5 goals isn't a very amazing achievement. Chelsea defense is weak, it is not surprising to score 5 goals.
Chelsea has been a shadow of their past and the earlier we as a fan accept this, the better for us, this is what we expect when we have a disappointing head, which Todd, a coach that lacks good strategy and players who are not worthy to be starting games sees themselves as a regular starter in the club
173  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] SWGT Signature Campaign 🔥 Binance #SWGT & CERTIK Audited on: April 23, 2024, 09:34:09 PM
Royse777, I'm reporting member BD Technical for being a complete shitposter, unworthy of being in your or anyone else's campaign.  Just look at this asswipe of a post:

If you want to miss out on gold and go far with gold, you need to recharge on top of gold and buy votes.  There are many people who buy gold and invest in gold and gift it to their daughter or you in that case the price of gold never goes down. If you buy gold it will turn into gems in your future.  Gold is not the same for everyone like gold is going up fast and bitcoin price goes down but I have never heard of gold going down it's always going up but you can buy it anyway.  I Go To should not be sold by a trusted organization because if you sell in a regular store or a jewelery shop like that you will not get your value and not get the right price.  If you go to a trusted or licensed store and sell that goal, you will get a good amount of money and get a good profit from it.

Not only is it horribly written, it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.  I checked his post history, and it's full of totally generic crap that's obviously cranked out just to get paid.  I'd advise you to get rid of this idiot.
This guy is totally crap though Royse777 is not the CM of this user, roycilik actually manage the campaign in the altcoins board https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5491882.msg63911050#msg63911050
the SWGT managed by Royse777 is from Sr members and above
174  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another health benefit of online gambling on: April 23, 2024, 07:55:42 PM
To be frank I have never visit any physical gambling shop and I don't see myself going there ever to gamble, I just don't vibe those places, I just enjoy gambling online testing various platforms of my choice when I feel like, though I still have one or two I love best. There are so many benefits of online gambling platform which I can say to me outweigh the physical casino but those who prefer to use physical casino knows why they still just prefer it to the online but I guessed it may be because that was were they started gambling or made most wins.

Online gambling and physical gambling shops has different feels. Most time when play at the physical shops, you might be lucky enough to get good games from so other experts who gamble there as well so theirs high chance of winning. In my country for instance a lot of people prefer the local gambling stores because it's easier for them compared to online where you have to go through some kyc and other stuffs. Physical gambling store you just have to buy your slip and play your games weather virtual or sport betting. For me I enjoy both the online and the physical gambling methods.
Actually I don't think the KYC is the main reason they prefer the physical meetings, maybe because there they can spend time with friends. In Nigeria, which is also where you are from,  we also have our local online betting platform like Sportybet and I haven't heard anyone complaining about stress there and it's still possible to share booking code with friends online.

Also don't forget in our local betting shop there are times when there won't power supply to place a bet but online we can do it when we want, while another reason I prefer online is also from the fact I can't lost my booking code.
175  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hal Finney wins award for his contribution to Bitcoin development! on: April 23, 2024, 05:03:01 PM
Laszlo certainly has its place in BTC history, but that event took place in 2010, and Hal was awarded for that period. Gavin is also one of the candidates, but it's no secret that I personally wouldn't give him the award for several reasons - one is precisely that he went where he shouldn't have, and he himself admitted that he might have scared Satoshi that way. The second thing that disqualifies him in my opinion is that at one point he gave support to CW Faketoshi claiming that he is the real Satoshi.
Wow I never knew Gavin once supported CW, which I would say was more disappointing than the first.

Quote
Also, the @theymos explorer is from 2010, and the next three awards will be given to people for their contributions in the period 2012-2024. I think that the winners in that period should be looked for in those who had a key role in the development of SegWit and Lightning Network, and maybe those who stood up to CW Faketoshi, like @Hodlonaut.
I was thinking of Wei Dai: The creator of B money, bitcoin predecessor https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/B-money but I think with your reason here, others will be considered and the developers of the SegWit
Though I don't think the LN dev will be given this award since it's not actual solution to the Bitcoin scalability issues while Pieter Wuille may probably get this award his contribution to the development of the Segwit address. While Hodlonaut definitely deserves it for his fight for the truth.
Also I think an this award should also go to El Salvador or top influencer in making bitcoin a legal tender there, since they are the first country for doing so.

HRF allocated a total of 33 BTC, of which 1 BTC will go to Hal
I am curious when reading this and want to know how HRF distribute this prize. No surprise that they do a right thing by sending it (or planning to send it) to Hals' wife, Fran Finney, and it is also good to know the widow plans to donate it to a charity.

Quote
Fran Finney, his widow, will accept the inaugural Finney Freedom Prize on Hal’s behalf and plans to donate the monetary prize of 1 bitcoin (BTC) to a yet-unnamed charity.
Hal Finney wife is just as wonderful as her husband, God bless her and their family
176  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another health benefit of online gambling on: April 23, 2024, 02:37:54 PM
In my personal opinion, the benefit of online gambling for our health is that we can learn to hone our brains and skills so that they develop further by being shown or exposed to various kinds of online gambling, of course we will try to carry it out little by little so that we will gain knowledge by ourselves. and by gambling online for our health, we just sit quietly or relax on the bed playing online gambling of our choice and we don't directly face or meet other gamblers whose health is still in doubt.

You're right, and it was strange for me to read that this guy, who had a lung disease, did not decide to take care of himself and switch completely to an online casino. I understand that this is a matter of everyone's taste, and physical casinos have their own charm.
For some, going there is a whole holiday: flashing lights, polite staff - it attracts to physical casinos and you want to come and play.
But online casinos have great advantages: to sit comfortably with a cup of coffee in an armchair and play gambling.

I have told him to focus on online gambling but he told me that he is more entertained in physical bet shops.
I hope you told him that some online gambling platform has a chat group were users can  interact with each other which makes it fun and entertaining like the physical bet shops
177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Bitcoin is fungible? on: April 23, 2024, 12:58:18 PM
Snip
Just like how it is impossible to filter out tainted fiat currency then it should be similar to bitcoin since we have mixers and other means of making bitcoin transactions more anonymous and It's just hypocrisy seeing some coins flag while in the blockchain they are all the same because this makes bitcoin Fungible as a currency

A similar situation is that I as an individual may choose not to accept my local fiat maybe cause how old it looks but when taken to the bank it will definitely be accepted.

We don't always have to know who once used our fiat currency or what they did to get it before we can use it which should be a similar situation in Bitcoin.
