To do so, the FBI carried out a NIT, or network investigative technique, and bypassed Tor to gather IP addresses, MAC addresses, and other bits of information on the suspects. Judge Bryan issued an order in February asking the FBI to explain how exactly it was able to subvert Tor. The order was prompted partly because lawyers for Michaud argued that some parts of the code the agency initially disclosed appeared to be absent

Are you sure that using pm options has something to do with our rank? As far as I know, posts is the only way to increase our rank. cmiiw

You should read this thread.

I've posted this in so many threads now...

So, basically, the formula for the activity value is this:

Code:
time = number of 2 week periods in which you posted
activity = min(time*14, posts)

So, lets break this down.

Code:
time = number of 2 week periods in which you posted

This basically means what it says. If you've been registered for one week, then this will be 1. If you've been registered for three weeks and posted on the first day of registration and again today, then it will be 2.

If you've been registered for one year (lets say you registered on the 1st January 2013 and today is the 1st January 2014), and you only posted on the 1st January, 10th January, 23rd March, 15 April, 18 April and the 23rd December, your time value would be 4, because you posted for 4 two-week periods.

Code:
activity = min(time*14, posts)

This basically says that your activity value is the smaller value of your time value multiplied by 14, and your post count. So, if your time value is 2, then your time*14 value would be 28. If your post count was 30, your activity value would be 28. If your post count was 20, your activity value would be 20.

I hope this explains it to some people Smiley

It'll be difficult for any other coin to compete with bitcoin.

167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Why is bitcoin controlled by the dollar! on: July 09, 2016, 08:44:05 PM
bitcoin is mean't to be fiat independent. Why is its price/value backed by dollar, instead of the gold-standard.
In reality, we're still under the tight grips of central banks, United States, and the dollar!

This is a large issue which needs to be fixed, internally within our community and externally ...

168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum isn't even close to being dead and yes any fork is GOOD. on: July 07, 2016, 09:48:27 AM
The has already cost millions of dollars in financial loses to investors.

Why would anybody in their right mind listen/believe the integrity of whatever nonsense Eth devs have to say?

It isn't safe, and there's lots of interesting cryptocurrencies projects going on, Eth doesnt deserve any special attention.
169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The simplest, easiest way to explain BITCOIN to a newb on: July 06, 2016, 11:54:12 PM
What is bitcoin - for newbies?

"Group of school kids holding rare sweets. Each kid shows their group their sweets to prove that she owns it. Each time a new school mate wants to eat a sweet, his friends check whether the rare sweet is fake before they allow her to eat it. If its fake, the group would throw jokes at her for eating a fake sweet."

Could be reviews from competing companies.

it would be good if the site used & displayed social media friends count, & account age, as a method of distinguishing legitimate users.

This looks like a really good coin. I would support it.

Is it still alive? Has there been any increase in adoption? What was the price increase (in btc) from a month ago?
173  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for a loan of $250 on: June 24, 2016, 04:42:05 AM
You would need to find a staff on this forum, give them the:

--> Steam username/password
--> Steam creation email/password
--> Steam creation email recovery email/password
--> PayPal username/password
--> PayPal creation email/password
--> PayPal creation email recovery email/password

Then i will wire you the funds.

Stupid stupid idea.  The OP will simply call Steam support, tell them he was hacked, then give them all the previous passwords/answers to security questions.  The account will then be transferred back to him, and you will be out your bitcoin.

Well I simply can't ignore vod or all my other buddies who have gone through these experiences before.

I will not be participating in this loan.
174  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for a loan of $250 on: June 23, 2016, 09:11:13 PM
If the items on your Steam account is worth over $280, I will accept it, if, a trusted member on this forum is in control of the account, until you return with a 5% interest.

How can I get a trusted member of the community to get control of the account?

I wont accept the account if you've bought anything using any system other than a singular PayPal account.

176  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Corporate takeover - What will you do? on: June 23, 2016, 08:58:46 AM
Let's say hypothetically, the end result is that bitcoin gets destroyed.

We move on to Litecoin,
Then to dodge,
Then to another copy of bitcoin,
Then to any other available cryptocurrencies

Regardless of what they do to cryptocurrencies,  they'll always be another to replace them. And they'll always be people making profit from the value rises.

bitcoin strengthens altcoins, and altcoins strengthens bitcoin.
177  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: SigBuddy - Now open sourced on: June 20, 2016, 06:49:52 PM
Finally ,you took my suggestion to to make it open to Public ,nice.I shall fork the repository soon.I'm thinking if stuff can be replaced with PHP ? We can do much url validations and keeping users data using SQL.I have never really used Jsoup for parsing ,I have to learn that.

It was a really good advice, I didn't realize how important it was, until the project was almost killed.

For Jsoup, I'm sure you'll be really good at it. Its exactly like JQuery (When your selecting items by ID, Class, Attr).

Because of certain/uncertain circumstances, I've decided to make this project open source for every developer to make use of.

Hopefully interesting services integrating bitcointalk & members of this community will sprout because of this

The BBcode issue is this.

In the HTMLDocument package that I've created, the Loader class requires special HTTPS header, took about 2 days to get the correct ones.
Without "application/x-www-form-urlencoded" the posted data will not be accepted, so will always fail, this is also the same for the user-agent.
If you look at your userprofile information page (to change signatures) the submit button has a charset of "ISO-8859-1" I've replicated everything & even tried combinations of UTF-8 & ISO-8859-1 in the HTTPS post header, but each time, symbols like ticks, in the signature will be broken.

I will reproduce an example and leave it on my signature for the next 2 days. So you can analyse it.

The BBcode encoding issue is the only problem that's stopping the project.

Ok, I'll take a look. Have you tried using JSoup's connection stuff to handle sending the data instead of using HttpsURLConnection?

Can you also put the BBCode for your sig here (in code brackets)?

I might be able to take on this project.

Where is the source code? It isn't the repo you linked.

What exactly is the BBcode issue you were having?

Sorry i had to delete and update the project. It contained some cookies in there.

Interesting, so you developed this to help people running signature campaigns or is this for something else? I often wondered how people run the signature campaigns and how to track what they pay, etc. I guess you developed this tool to help track it?

Yup it pretty much does everything. Hopefully someone else might continue this project, complete all the abstract commands, and connect all the dots together to make this intelligent system a reality.

I truly don't think that this project will be released/exist without the developers on this thread. You guys are special, and some of you have been tracking, informing & guiding this project since it started. The keys are on your hands, and I know this small community can be entrusted to make into something great.
