It would be a pretty good idea, if this was a chrome extension. However with .NET, if your building your own browser, it would be vulnerable to security threats (since the default is IE) which again is less portable compared to a chrome extension that can wrong in lots of Desktop OS.
Everyone is forgetting that the source also needs to be made public, and free for individual compiling, since a .NET app with administrative access is as powerful as any Trojan horse.

Haha yes it's extraordinarily improbable  Actually it's very probable. Let's scientifically think about it. You exists in a planet (Earth) We are in a region of our universe which allows intelligent life forms. Now we know there's a large amount of finite number of planets. If we only focus on our region of the universe, out of the millions of galaxies, what's to say we want find another galaxy which contains a star (the sun) that allows intelligent life form? Then again if we can't even travel beyond our galaxy (Milky Way) what's to say other intelligent life forms can travel to us? Let's not include parrellel universes into this, since they would also be considered as 'alien' it means there's an infinite number of universes, which means there's an infinite number of everything (including you) |

Oh and by the way, fiat money and our current monetary system is way, WAY too complicated for the average person to even remotely grasp.

Let's think about this rationally.
For regulation to come to Bitcoin, miners would need to accept any new software with altered code... If they don't accept, then I guess there's no regulation (which is most likely)
Alternatively individual Bitcoin services could be pressured, like what's happening to coinbase. Similar like Silk Road, if other services choose not to be regulatated, they could simply go underground. If you've already created the website scripts, any Bitcoin service could switch to a new domain within minutes.
So like what's happening here in the UK, since government wants to accept and tax Bitcoin businesses, I think they would all be forced to be regulated, which comes with a portfolio of advantages or face criminal charges... Unless they go underground as previously stated.

I don't think it's too complicated for the average person to use, I believe it's meant to be integrated in to services, which then extends its features to the average person. Sort of how mail providers manages everything to do with SMTP so you can simple login, compose and send an email within seconds...

I guess there is no need for a Foundation or a Body. There should just be an address (or addresses) for tipping core devs. Many would contribute a bit (myself included) and people with vested interest or big holdings in Bitcoin would do it too, as it is to their best interest.
The rest is up to miners and nodes. Core devs release updates, and the users decide.
I don't know if I agree with this. In order to attract and keep talent you need to insure there is a least a minimum amount of job security and vested interest in maintaining an open source repository. I don't know if our ecosystem is large and diverse enough to have enough competing and a diversity of private companies funding core development at this stage. What you are suggesting is essentially the model that the libbitcoin/unsystem implementation is following and while I fully support such endeavor, one has to be honest that it still needs a lot of work and development to mature and the lack in funding and organization is hurting this from being accomplished. Tips alone don't seem to be enough. Firstly, instead of having a group of people deciding the future of Bitcoin, I believe a forum would be better. Let's take simple machines forum as an example. With a bit of tweaking, we could add a "New feature" section. When a new topic is created, a new poll is also simultaneously created. At the end of the month, we would all be able to have a head-to-head and select 10 new features, which will be added to a list of updates to be made. Secondly, developers need to have a verified account linked to their Bitcoin forum account. Every year, they would make an appeal to the community, and the community would consequently vote for their pay that year. Once this has been completed, an address to fund the developers would be listed. After they have been paid, any additional payments are carried to the next year. Finally, funding Bitcoin related projects. This would be achieved by have a Bitcoin address, which is openly displayed and recognised by everyone. It would be controlled by everyone, simultaneously being controlled by no one. Like paying developers, if a project requires funding, they would need to create a new topic and compete head-to-to for the top 10 winning spot each month. For this to effectively work, each member (user) would be required to have over 100 comments on the forum, which would prevent spamming. I have weighed all the other options available, and I believe this would be better welcomed by the community, instead of a body of rich, opportunistic representatives. Projects which require funds would have a 5 day window each month to create the necessary topic, which contains the organisations name, Bitcoin address, images and the topic content. |

you can declare btc dead as much times as your heart desires. I've said this many times, Bitcoin is the technology implementation of gold. It's limited, requires miners (no pun intended) protected from corrupt entities, and prevents Qe, these all mean that the value will only get stronger, and stronger as its embedded in more services.

I wouldn't want to wait and find out if it's true What do you mean? That he won't be verifying (as it is a lie?) and waiting would be pointless or that it doesn't matter. I do agree that he should verify his statements "(as it is a lie?)," but personally if I did have any Paycoins I would get a head start and begin converting to btc, which seems relatively safe, before his stament is officially verified. If his statement does turn out to be false, it wouldn't be a hassle reverse my actions and convert my btc back into Paycoins. I really wouldn't take chances on anything that isn't bitcoin at this moment in time. |
