301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple and Ethereum are unregulated share issues of Banking companies on: May 24, 2016, 10:08:38 AM
That's the problem. I don't understand why Ripple is always mentioned in conjunction with bitcoin as "Cryptocurrencies" I guess the name and integrity of marketing those services as "Cryptocurrency" services would only increase business on their behalf
302  Economy / Gambling / Re: PvP | Android | Multiplayer game | Project | Need suggestions & tips on: May 23, 2016, 07:31:49 PM
Interesting concept.Only two players can play the game at the moment ? You know days back, flappy bird bitcoin version got banned from PlayStore as its against their terms to host any apps or games which deal with real money or winnings.I don't bother the success of the game but its timeframe to exists on the app store before its banned.Did you ever think about that ?

Hi Joel thanks for the suggestions

Their could be a chance for tournaments where we could see as much as 16, 30, 50 or even 100 people playing each other until a champion is found.

For the app store situation our solution would have been to provide a download on a/our website although it might reduce it's chances of discovery

Interesting game but i just want to ask if its already release to test this app right now.. Honestly its a little bit confused to me how to play the game.. the puzzle looks the game in windows 7 purble place that every card has a random image which is you should choose the 2 the same image..The more you faster the more you can get a score..

Hey thanks for the tip, i'll try to provide a sample
304  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is the final Bitcoin amount less than 21 million BTC? on: May 23, 2016, 07:04:06 PM
Its true. The value is rounded to the nearest significant figure... forgot the reason behind it (perhaps someone can quote me the reason) but would you rather say 20.9(recurring) million bitcoins or 21? it's pretty logical

Quote
People say the total will be 21000000 BTC.

... however:

The 1st 210000 blocks each allow creating 50 BTC.
The 2nd 210000 blocks each allow creating 25 BTC.
The 3rd 210000 blocks each allow creating 12.5 BTC.
...

The 10th 210000 blocks each allow creating 0.09765625 BTC.
The 11th 210000 blocks each allow creating 0.04882812 BTC, and not 0.048828125 BTC, because only 8 decimals of precision are supported.
...

The 33rd 210000 blocks each allow creating 0.00000001 BTC.
After that, the reward is 0.

If you sum all these numbers together, you get 20999999.9769 BTC.

... however, either due to an oversight or intentionally, the coins created in the genesis block cannot be spent.

This leaves us with 20999949.9769 BTC.

... however, due to an early problem in Bitcoin, fixed by BIP30, it was possible to create a coinbase transaction identical to a previous coinbase. This caused the coins created by that older coinbase to be irreversibly "overwritten". This happened in block 91842 (overwriting the coinbase of block 91812) and 91880 (overwriting the coinbase of block 91722). Each time, 50 BTC was lost.

This leaves us with 20999849.9769 BTC.

... however, the protocol rules allow creating up to the amounts listed above. Due to various bugs and miners experimenting with code, some blocks claim less than allowed. Those coins can never be recovered.

Block 124724 tried to intentionally claim 0.00000001 BTC less than allowed, but accidentally also failed to claim the fees, losing 0.01000001 BTC.
Between block 162705 and block 169899, 193 blocks claimed less than allowed due to a bug, resulting in a total loss of 9.66184623 BTC.
Between block 180324 and block 249185, another 836 blocks claimed less than allowed, resulting in a total loss of 0.52584193 BTC.
This leaves us with 20999839.77921183 BTC.

... however, since recently there is a concept of provably unspendable coins. Coins can be sent to an "address" which provably burns them (using OP_RETURN). Bitcoin Core tracks these and removes them from its database, so they are easily accounted for. At least 0.03616475 BTC were burned this way.

This leaves us with 20999839.74304708 BTC (taking everything up to block 368719 into account)

... However, various wallets have been lost or stolen, transactions have been sent to the wrong address, people forgot they owned bitcoin. The totals of this may well be millions. People have tried to tally known losses up here.

Its a interesting idea be it with limited potential due to the bitcoin aspect but intriguing idea.

Would worry that some one would create a bot to manipulate the game in their favor or exploit the site.
If you could get that figured out it has some aspects that could be brought into a bigger bubble like a actual app standing alone from bitcoin.
Meaning you could have a connection to bitcoin but also allow other currencies to earn more potential.

Have you considered sudoku like puzzles, that would be very interesting. Smiley

Hi Evildrum thanks for the suggestions

We got the botting part sorted out.

For the bitcoin aspect we haven't actually thought about moving away from the cryptocurrency. It could be an option. I guess we haven't made plans that far along yet.

We haven't also considered sudoku like puzzles, but yes, it could also be an option if the demand is large enough

Hi!

Like everyone else, we're tiered of loosing Satoshis to Gambling sites, which might not be fair, but instead chooses to take advantage of our trust.

We're building a Player-V-Player Puzzle based game, which only requires you to beat your opponent to claim the stake.

[let me find those pics Wink]

[Okay you've made it this far! thats good Wink]

> Aim: Get as close to the target number as possible.
> Rounds: there's 5 rounds
> Time of round: each round is 30 seconds long "you can see this on the right hand of the screen."

---Rules---
> Each card has a hidden number. that could be 1%, 10%, 30%, 45% or 75% of the target number
> Each player has 2 Previews per/round (swipe left to use) these allows you to see whats behind a card without picking it.
> Each player has 1 reversal  per/round (swipe right to use) this allows you to remove an unwanted card
> Each Player can pick any card by clicking it.
--

---Other---
The Player with the most wins after 5 rounds,  wins the game.
Bets are only placed in BTC there are no limits.
--

What do you think of this idea/game? --- Would anyone be interested in playing against other players?

311  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Wallet Vulnerability on: May 04, 2016, 06:37:17 AM
If you go to blockchain.info I'm sure you will find wallets with $4,000,000 - $50,000,00+ inside them, where varying large quantities would have been spent over time.

Feel free to post your wallet address online,  it's called a public key for a reason,   please read this It is mathematically improbable, intellectually ignorant, and economically unviable, to even attempt to compute a private key from any give public key in this century, and hopefully the next.

Some people did mention keyloggers, which I would say,  is a good point if you did manage to get infected by anything that would be interested in Bitcoins,  so yes, I'm sure you're wise enough to have any of these free Antivirus tools installed (if you're a Windows user).

Some of the worst advice I've heard.
1) it's indeed improbable that someone can compute the private key from a public key
2) it's entirely probably that you will be targeted by criminal elements if they know you have a large stash
2a) The cost of spamming you trying to get some malicious code on your system is minor.
2b) The cost of social engineering you is pretty minor.
2c) If you're entirely oblivious about privacy the cost of showing up at your place with a tire iron and beating the crap out of you until you open you stash is minor.

Depending on your environment the risk will vary. In Switzerland it may be alright to flaunt your stash. In Syria I would suggest being a bit more careful. As stated before; if you wouldn't flaunt the stack of gold bars you keep at your place then you probably shouldn't flaunt your bitcoin stash either.

As an added note; Anti-virus increases attack surface. Good luck with your free anti-virus applications.

Tbh this thread is a joke. So you think that if he posts his Bitcoin address online someone will show up at his house and kill him for it?  Well okay, thanks for the advice.
312  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Craig Wright turns out to be Satoshi? on: May 03, 2016, 12:11:35 AM
Control over his guesstimated quantity of coins is an element worth paying attention to. As for everything else, considerably less so.

That could be, since no one can provide some of his known addresses, I would really doubt that he would be carrying anything more than $500,000,000.00 in his main wallet,  since some of the first Genesis blocks only carry transactions worth 22k each (upto somewhere near block 75k) I don't think he would have saved more than 5% of those private keys (if any at all) which would be about $82.5M worth.

Tbh if he is carrying bitcoins anywhere near my estimates,  I doubt that would cause any major setback on the price or its stability.

Would it matter anymore? Our Ecosystem is diverse, we make decisions together and we've adapted to living without a God like figure. What IF? what's Next?
314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: QUIT Gavin Andresen! on: May 02, 2016, 11:28:56 PM
So what would be the alerting difference between these other licenses and an MIT issued one?

In a general way, they might want to copyright bitcoin. Which makes me think this could be at a HIGHER level that people are taking it.

Bitcoin has always been open-source, MIT is also for open-source isn't that good for everyone?
315  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: QUIT Gavin Andresen! on: May 02, 2016, 11:23:28 PM
"Does MIT own the copyright to Bitcoin code?
For existing projects contributed to by MIT employees, patches are made respecting the project’s license. Bitcoin uses the MIT License. Therefore, the developers’ work is under the MIT License held by the developers (this does not mean that MIT has any control over it, but rather that it is under a non-restrictive license). New projects started by MIT employees may also be released under permissive use licenses — such as GPLv2, MIT or BSD — at the discretion of the developer. MIT does not typically allow for projects to be started with certain open-source licenses — such as Apache or GPLv3 — but members of our group have been pushing to eliminate these restrictions."

I would stay on ALERT for the upcoming commits.

The MIT license is just a license which allows anyone to copy whatever work without the need to reference the original work or credit the original authors. It is restrictionless, and it does not mean that MIT has any control over the code. Not only does Gavin work at MIT DCI, but so do Wladimir, Jonas Schnelli, and a few other guys working on Bitcoin Core RIGHT NOW (I could only think of those two off of the top of my head).

Gavin's commit access has also been revoked due to concerns that he may have been hacked.

Ahh dang. It would have been better if he had done the research and came to the conclusion himself. I/We didn't need the help. Thanks for it anyways.
