Just making sure you know, there's more to Bitcoin than bitcointalk. You don't need to have an account here to use Bitcoin, and there are other places to discuss it. Don't put Bitcoin and bitcointalk.org in the same bag.

That should be very easy and costs them nothing, even changing the whois email would do IMO. I'd say it's some scammer trying to get the bounty.

I wonder if it was Satoshi who registered the domain, as it is being so hard to get in touch with the person who registered it, looks like that person wants to stay anonymous...

+1 for blockchain.info. It has paper wallet and brain wallet support too. And I read on their website the wallet backups can be decrypted with Multibit, so even if they go down, there should be no problem because they don't know your private keys, and the backup can still be decrypted.

IMO the fact that Apple patented this has a really good side, though.

If they patented, that'll mean they'll go after every major corporation who steals this "invention" for their products and hasn't licensed the patent. This basically means that only Apple devices (and devices from other companies who license the patents) will have this censorship problem. Don't want to have your phone go blind and deaf at any time? Don't buy an Apple phone.

As time goes by, I'm more and more proud of using smartphones that are more than five years old and which their only support is the hackers community. Nobody cares about those devices, and they can just access the internet and connect to wi-fi networks like any other smartphone (they just don't have Angry Birds and the like). Plus, they are fully unlocked and reverse-engineered so there's no chance some greedy company is watching you with OEM-included software (anyway, in 2004/2005 not many people thought about that). Also, these phones often have crappy cameras (my current one has a VGA one, and when you hold the phone you block its visibility), so there's no big chance you're going to get an image where you can see clear who's and what's around.
Even better, when you trigger the Airplane mode, it really goes silent. And if you choose to shutdown (not standby) they'll really go off. Oh, and did I say you can take the battery out and eventually replace it?

I was thinking about not doing it automatically, but have the user manually request a payout only if the earnings are higher than a certain amount (because of transaction fees). I also see that blockchain.info changed the merchant API and deprecated some of the methods I used, so I'll need to completely rework the internet toll system (also, I'll need one more database on my side because now blockchain.info wants a single address for everything, and now I'm creating one address per short link per visitor).

I think you're wrong. Most people nowadays just go to Google and type "facebook" to go to facebook.com, "gmail" to go to mail.google.com, "youtube" to go to youtube.com; "flowers" to buy flowers, "pets" to see pets, and so on. Also, most people have autocomplete turned on (even though they sometimes don't use it). To them, it doesn't matter if Facebook is at a .com domain or at a .info or .to one, as long as it shows up as the first Google result.

I feel more and more that I belong to a minority that is able to remember full URLs, even longer ones (ok, just not random ones such as Instawallet URLs). For me it's easier to type gmail.com or mail.google.com than to go to Google and search for "gmail" (it also saves plenty of bandwidth and time, in the end).

In this specific case, I think blockchain.info is very appropriate and easier to remember ("information about the blockchain = blockchain.info"). Personally I like it better than blockchain.com.
