161  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why is bitcoin going for more than $20 on eBay? on: October 26, 2012, 10:06:49 AM
I bought my first bitcoin on ebay... just wanted to get one!

Me too, and for the same reason.

Same reason for buying 1st one, got it from bitmarket.eu, then started buying them from bitmarket.eu and selling on eBay at a reasonable markup.

ran into the chargeback game, then ebay de-listed a bitcoin auction saying it wasn't allowed.  I stopped after that, I value my eBay account even though they are fucking evil.

what is the rule now?  Can you win paypal disputes with blockchain verification now?

I tried that, made screenshot of submitted wallet, transaction, my wallet and it didn't work. They told me the buyers account got stolen and even if they receive goods they reserve the right to get their money back.
I was like  Shocked

Я использую только линукс при ввооде пароля в мтгокс. Советую.

Линукс намного безопаснее, ну можно и программами пользоваться который автоматически сгерерируют пассворд или сохраняют ваш пассворд вместо браузера.
Например, dashlane.

166  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why is bitcoin going for more than $20 on eBay? on: October 26, 2012, 09:19:20 AM
Oh an have anyone ever tried eBid. It has auctions worldwide and fees are much less than eBay, or eCrater.
I didnt know about eBit. Seems to be a great egay alternative.  Smiley

It is of course is not as popular, but eBay is just turned from the auction for users like it used to be into big corporate marketplace.
Then you try to compete with all those companies...
167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: cgminer - Problem with multiple GPUs on: October 26, 2012, 02:28:10 AM
I had to run nvidia and amd graphics card in the same system but just for bitcoin.
First make sure your nvidia drivers installed before amds, then try disabling one of the graphics cards in cgminer settings and see if it will run with just one.

I bought a whole system with 8120, 2 x1 terabyte drives, ssd, windows, full corsair tower, gtx460, and an asus sabertooth motherboard for $600.  It was almost exactly what I would have built myself for about half the cost.  I am really happy with the sabertooth board speaking of which and want to buy the intel chip equivalent when I get the $$$.

From where?  That's not possible.  Was it all used/refurb or bought in person or something?

Sometimes you can find a really good deal on barbone kits, after rebates and discounts.
169  Economy / Lending / Re: [BTCJam] Loan for consolidating debt on: October 25, 2012, 09:48:46 PM
Alright, well I'll STFU until November 10th when your first payment is or isn't made.

I would love to pay and show, but the loan is not going to go through because btcjam will cancel it.
All loans have a margin that have to surpass 70% fundings.
This is why I started topic, so people could help me.

Did your business with poison-garden seeds required some kind of license? If you were licensed then it would be illegal for PayPal to freeze your account.

No license is required to sell seeds. My auction listing had pictures of opium poppies and a link to the wikipedia page for papaver somniferum. this is where mom clicked... saw the word heroin and instantly the seeds were a drug and I was shut down. The same seeds that you get on a bagel. HEROIN DEALER?

Papal can freeze your account for pretty much any reason.

Omg, that is so crazy to hear. There are some crazy people out there, and PayPal pretty much didn't listen to you.
I know they can freeze you for any reason, but there has to be a good reason otherwise you can sue them. They are in the US and law works here.
They cannot just take your money without a good reason, that's what I mean.
171  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: AMD Layoffs on: October 25, 2012, 09:14:56 PM
Newegg got the Desktop Piledrivers in stock, and also coincidentally dropped the price of the Bulldozer CPUs. I picked up a 8120 for $140, paid for with a gift card from btcbuy.info, of course. GC showed up in 12 hours, and the CPU should be here tomorrow.  Grin Grin

Their price went ridiculously down, I wish I haven't bought my 8150 on the first day it came out.

Does the crossfire help?  I had more trouble than it was worth trying to get a performance boost out of the llano.  For one thing the best card that could crossfire with the apu was a 6670 (I've sold this card) but I wasn't impressed.  I like the "free" gpu though.  I can run the integrated gpu as if it were a video card all of its own but it takes up no space in the case...

I don't know about mining performance, but for gaming it gives me quite a good boost. I was always a fan of nvidia cards for gaming, but a laptop apu with gpu feels quite powerful. And they just released their newer series of apus too. I just wish my laptop didn't have the damn 1377 resolution.

You are just mean.  Cry

Look, up in the sky!  It's a bird!  It's a plane!  No, it's the flying fuck I was going to give.
I am sorry, but you are the one who comes in and says something about me, without knowing who I am. If you are so afraid to accept that you are wrong that is not my fault.
Plus I didn't ask you to give me free money or anything and said something like "oh would you give me money cuz I am a girl".
You are not making logical sense.

Many people on the interwebs simply doubt the likelihood of a girl on the internet.
Yeah and I understand that, but why ask me to prove it and then don't believe it. This is simply what I do not understand.
175  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why is bitcoin going for more than $20 on eBay? on: October 25, 2012, 07:46:45 PM

If you're just going to reverse the transaction anyway, $47 isn't that much money.

Could also be digital delivery sellers are getting scarce Wink

Yeah they are getting scarce because paypal is banning them  Sad

I saw your post bout PayPal divorcing you. Can you tell me a little bit about your account?

My questions are...

Did you ONLY sell bitcoins?
How long were you a member for?
Did you only sell digital delivery?
You said you only had 3 chargebacks and many voluntary refunds. What time span did the chargebacks happen in? 1 month? 6 months? more?

In my past experience with PayPal I believe PayPal to be generally lazy. They only seem to act when someone complains. Do you feel a competitor may have "narked you out" ?

I used to run a seed selling business on eBay back in 2003-2007. I specialized in poison-garden seeds. Some of which can be considered drugs. I had that PayPal account closed over a $2 poppy seed packet sale and the complaint came from a concerned mother. I had refunded her payment when she contacted me, I was very pleasant with the woman and felt the issue was handled well by me and was shocked when PayPal canceled my account. After the 180 days, It took an additional 6 months to recover the frozen funds. At the time there was NO WAY to speak to anyone on the phone.

I'm really going to begin to worry if they are canceling paypal accounts for people who are shipping physical bitcoins (me).

On a more positive note, I got my paypal account back in the end by providing them a bunch of information and agreeing not to sell poisonous seeds anymore. Attempts to explain how lots of innocent vegetables have poison seeds fell on deaf ears at PayPal. They ALWAYS assume the seller to be a liar and the buyer to be a judge/jury/executioner. I have been an eBay seller since 1998 and have been using PayPal since it was X.com.

Did your business with poison-garden seeds required some kind of license? If you were licensed then it would be illegal for PayPal to freeze your account.

As for physical bitcoins, have you tried adding signature confirmation, I don't know if it does much but it does adds seller protection.

I was just asking about the law. It's good to know. I love paying taxes because I always get a big return  Wink
I just wish US had a flat rate system.
A big return just means that you paid too much taxes throughout the year.  Basically you gave the government an interest free loan for a year.  Instead of having that money available to you throughout the year when it might have been useful, you let the government use it free of charge, and then they just pay you back your money that they've been using throughout the year when you file your taxes between January 1 and April 15.

Generally it would be better to have your employer adjust your withholding so that when it comes time to file your tax forms, you neither owe anything nor get a refund.  Then you'll get all that extra money spread out throughout the year ahead of time.  You can then use it (to buy BTC?), put it in an interest bearing account, or loan it to someone who will pay you interest (and who you can rely on paying you back).

I just usually have interest from my debt that I deduct , and I am also in school. I have an accountant family friend who always did our taxes.
I had always claimed 1 on exemption when I worked in retail store.
But this year I got a new job as a web developer and now my form is w-9 instead of w-2 and I do not know how she is going to work around that.

Get a life and die.

I don't think s/he can do both so it should be "Get a life or die"

I was just trying to be funny.  I probably shouldn't try that again, lest I hurt myself.

You are just mean.  Cry

Alright, you answered my question.
But if you do trade bitcoins for something else (not money), that wouldn't be taxed under income gain? You would pay sales tax when required by companies because they pay their taxes, but if you just trade them with a person for something. Like on eBay, when you purchase something you don't pay sales tax.
