Yeah, I figured i would ever only need to use one PSU;  and my original idea was to populate a connector with a MB power connector and a handfull of PCIE pairs as pigtails.

These power supplies are extremely compact for the power delivery.  Me likey.

I just need to see if there's a nice way to secure it all in a chassis in a not-so-ghetto way.
1602  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Supermicro PWS-1K41P-1R Power Supply on: May 20, 2017, 12:18:37 AM

exactly;  I need to source those connectors....

Even if that module is bought for $40;  its still a cheaper power supply than off the shelf for the wattage and rating....   I may snatch one of those up to remove the silver rated coolmax 1600w supply in my rackminer and replace it with this one.  I dont think Ill ever put 1600W on this supply ever;  The miners will usually stay >1000W when I build them for versatility sake.
1603  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 24 GPU mining setup reviewed this weekend on livestream on: May 19, 2017, 10:37:46 AM
the 4u cases make the miners easily stackable... cable config in one place... easier to route airflow and occupy more vertical footage efficiently.
1604  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: May 19, 2017, 10:36:09 AM
Thanks....I got it working.
But it really bogs my computer down, I tried underclocking the cards but it still lags badly.
Will have to stick with EWBF for now , I can still use the computer running that.

U need to trim down intensity on ccminer using the -i flag to the point you are comfortable with usage.

intensity will vary between algos; but you will see a noticeable dip in hashrate when lowering mining intensity.... be prepared for that.
1605  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Supermicro PWS-1K41P-1R Power Supply on: May 19, 2017, 03:09:16 AM
K guys.... finally got it working.... well, finally got around to properly testing it.

My buddy Tiger was able to get a good deal on these power supplies, and they are 100-140/180-250v compatible.  He left me a free sample to play with.  I see them on ebay for as low as $40 shipped OBO.

Supermicro PWS-1K41P-1R: 80 Plus Gold rated.

In 110V mode they supply 1100W(92A of +12V)
In 220V mode they supply 1400W(116A of +12V)

Looking at the top of the edge connector in the back, the large rail on the right is +12V.  The large rail on the right underside is GND.

If you bridge GND to the pin on the left edge connector that is "cut short" at the end (it stands out from ALL the rest, trust me)...  It will power on the +12V rail.

I think ill be using these on my personal miners from now on.

I am having trouble sourcing board-edge connectors (like block erupters I think, but with small pin spacing) to make an adaptor card to plug into this supply.   I could just hack some PCIE cables and whatnot and solder to the edge connector, but I'd like something that takes a little less time to assemble.  If I had to compare this card edge connector to anything, it's closest to looking like a PCIE slot.  It's a 44 pin double sided connector.

Any thoughts?

Just switched my 1080ti to zpool. What clock settings are y'all running for skein? Thanks

stock.  Power isn't a concern for me.  I haven't heard of any boost other than slightly lower wattage... so, I leave it alone.

im on board with twice a day;  seems like it should be fine for the smaller guys, and still save you in the large tx size fees.

Maybe make sunday the exception, and make it one payment.
1608  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: May 18, 2017, 09:32:12 AM
The 9 series was optimized heavily for neoscrypt cause it was growing on GPU support finally last year.

The optimizations never really got to the 10 series for that algo I believe....   Much better profitability from a 10 series on skein anyways Wink

Where do you mine Skein? And how much does a 1070/1080/1080ti make a day?
My attempt at miningpoolhub has not been very successful. Even had problems finishing the benchmark.

Heres a few figures:

1070=520Mh
1080=640Mh (if memory serves)

You can do a profitability calculation from the upper right pane in the wallet links provided below.

The first link is the equivalent of about 3x 1070's: Link1
Its 1x 1070, 1x 980, 1x 960, and a gtx 650 that nibbles at LBRY because I have not been to that site to update it in ages.  Every once in a while, my buddy will leave his 1070 mining for me, as well as another machine up north that runs a 960 while in-use at a warehouse.  With the first 3 GPU, and my buddies part-time other 1070;  I've been seeing over $300/mo.

The second link is (by last count, i'm not sure if he's added any more cards) 5x 1080 and 1x 1070: Link 2

The past few days my friend has been having internet connectivity issues (wifi unreliability i think) and it may show some offline time.  It still hasn't run a full 2 months yet at its current hashrate.  He started with a gtx 1070, then planned the full-blown miner and went with 5x 1080, then returned two, but shortly after bought two used in separate instances on CL.  He still wants to fill out that rackminer with its 6th gpu as soon as a 1080 hits CL for a good price again.

In my sig, I have a link to my batch files;  as well in that link a link to my other post with more info and configs for mining on zpool.   If you need any help, LMK.

1610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best mining software for G-Blades on: May 17, 2017, 11:02:02 AM
FYI, I had the best results using a pi with minera on all my gridseed devices.

When using windows, I only used cgminer 3.7.2.

But I highly suggest minera on a pi.   Lightyears better.  Auto-restart functions, etc... web monitoring and controls... worked awesome =)
1611  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Journey inside a BAIKAL miner on: May 17, 2017, 10:52:41 AM
When it comes down to it;  it could be some sort of SOC or FPGA;  Thus the power requirement for it...  40W seems about right for a high end SOC/FPGA....
I would need to study how X11 works/calcs data;  I never really looked....
1612  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining in windows. on: May 17, 2017, 03:05:05 AM
Artifacts usually means:
1 - if under the load only, then overheat of a video ram/gpu
2 - anytime load/no load, then its already damaged memory/gpu, especially if you start seeing artifacts during boot process, before driver is even loaded.

i would not worry if gpu runs anywhere under 80'C and i would worry if it runs over 90'C in between is sort of "pay attention" area to my opinion

Me personally on my nvidia rigs:

<60* is ideal
60*-75* is acceptable
>75* is unacceptable

If they start to go above 75*, I start adding more active cooling to keep it in check.
1613  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Digibytes on: May 17, 2017, 03:01:22 AM
Here is what I'm getting when I run the miners http://imgur.com/a/J7cZ4

The ccminer seems like it's working fine but the cgminer doesn't look like it's finding anything.

Here is what I have in both the batch files for the ccminer and cgminer http://imgur.com/a/OYIKj

The site says that you get a deposit after each 40 acceptances but I had around 150 and didn't see anything.

FYI, post the batch contents next time instead of a photo;  use the "#" button above the reply box to "add code snippet":
Code:
it will look like this.

digi.bat:  you did not select an algo.  What algo are you mining DGB as?  (looks up port number from your pool...)

port 9001.... after searching them from most profitable to least (with nvidia anyways) it was my last pick;  sha256d.

That's your problem right there.

The 1070 realllllly screams at skein with this new optimized miner; the 1080 didn't get as big of a boost, but it's still a huge boost nonetheless.

The Solution:
Go here for the port/launch string: https://dgb-skein.theblocksfactory.com/gettingstarted

Go here and only download "ccminerAlexis78.exe", you won't need anything else from that package.

Change your batch file to reflect the new filename of the miner, and put this new ccmineralexis78.exe with the original one and batch you were using;  don't forget to update your worker/username and password.

You should be rocking and rolling.   I didn't read anything else from that pool about payouts or anything, you are gonna have to do that yourself Wink
1614  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Journey inside a BAIKAL miner on: May 17, 2017, 02:50:02 AM
I myself am still waiting to see some XXX photos of the new baikals.  I want to see how they laid out their power, and if there are any markings on the FPGA/ASIC....
1615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Are 6 PCIe slot boards worth the mark up? on: May 17, 2017, 02:48:54 AM
Consider the cost of PCIE splitters when paying for a board.

That right there will make the board cost not an issue if it's not a gouge of $200+
1616  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: From experience, how 'sellable' are used ASIC miners? on: May 17, 2017, 02:41:53 AM
From my point of view;  they typically are very sellable if you don't hold onto them forever.

I was buying S3's for ~$40, running them for a few months, then selling them back for $40..... win-win.

My friend is the bad case though;  he paid $2200 for an S7... then while in shipping the S7 tanked to $700Ea or thereabouts....

So take it like this, the new ASIC market is volatile; and the used ASIC market has way more stability and is easier to judge.

FYI, consider other algos.

With my equivalent of 3x 1070's, I pull $10+/day.

1618  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: May 17, 2017, 02:37:38 AM
i have another question - does it make any difference, in relation to nicehash, to mine directly without any registration vs registration and sell hashpower? I mean whats more profitable from client stand point? (hashing is  about 6x1080ti plus some 7970's) Also, is mining via nicehash "uniminer" interface vs CMD line directly - any profit differences?

if you want to hide yourself.  you could download a wallet get a btc addy.

sell your hash send the coin to the addy you made.  And until you spent the coin no one would know you owned it.

Correct.   The only link to you, is posting the address online, or the primary way is exchanging to fiat.
1619  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore dont work good i need fast help on: May 14, 2017, 01:25:38 PM
windows7 >4Gb ram.
windows 10 >6Gb ram.
linux: depends on build and features.

the memory is kinda a big deal.

That board/processor should be fine for a miner.  plenty fast enough to validate shares and run the miner apps.... I used one out of a semi name brand pc that I was scrapping.   Its now a game pc for my friend... lol.

you will need to let windows use virtual memory as well, be sure its enabled, and for a large value ~16Gb to be on the safe side.

It sounds like a driver issue, but... there's a chance the old power supply is going bad and is out of tolerance.  they can wreak havoc on trying to diagnose an issue.

Phillip is good with them, he should be able to get you steered in the right way.  I haven't seen this problem pop up before.
1620  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: May 14, 2017, 01:18:20 PM
Can someone recommended settings for 1080ti?

I have a 6x 1080ti rig, each running 60% power limit, +250 core, -500 mem (mem oc or underclock, no hash difference).
Getting only about 600 sols and 4sol/w. 900w at the wall for about 3600 sols. Voltage is unchanged.

It seems low compared to gtc 1070 which can do 450sol at 60% power limit. Should I undervolt?

wow.... 6 x 1080ti is an incredible$ rig

Post some pictures will ya?

I know;  after seeing the hashrates out of just 5x 1080's, I can only imagine how the ti feels when you get the pools payout 3 times a day... lol.
