I dont believe that Pakistan has more then 2000 btc at a given time, so money laundering (again a term that we must understand) will not be possible or even hiding black money in this is stupid as 1 day your value might be $2700 next day it will be $2200 who would want to do that is beyond my understanding?

This is not the argument you should be making as money launderers don't mind taking a haircut. The argument you should be making is that all bitcoin transactions are publicly viewable on blockchain explorers so there is no way you can hide anything. Despite what the media might say bitcoin is not an anonymous currency. There is total transparency of funds transfers in bitcoin. This is the argument the Indians made when their central bank started causing them problems and it worked because they were allowed to carry on trading bitcoin.

Pakistan has a history of banning new technologies as soon as they start becoming popular. It is not surprising that the authorities would take offense at bitcoin's growing popularity. It was to be expected.

i have posted the solution to your problems above in post number 3 but you guys ignore it. stuck transactions are responsible for 9/10 of the posts on this forum in the last few months. if you just follow the guide we have created for you you'd be fine.

I did read this.  I would say this is a pretty good solution in most cases.  However this doesn't help if want to void the original transaction.

Bitcoin transactions are irreversible so relying on some mythical ability to void transactions is the wrong approach. My suggestion do a CPFP and get the original transaction confirmed. Then ask for a refund from whoever you sent the money to.
1604  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Migration from Multibit HD to Electrum on: May 29, 2017, 02:31:54 PM
why i couldn`t use this private key, if i want it to sweep into new wallet?

Private key scr - http://prntscr.com/fdf18m
Error scr - https://prnt.sc/fd1f55

Can you please answer the question in the my post above?

To answer your question you can't use this private key because in 2fa wallets there is more than one private key behind every address. There is the private key in your wallet, the private key owned by trusted coin which is the company providing the 2fa authentication service and then there is the backup private key encoded in the seed mnemonic which was displayed during the wallet creation process and which you failed to write down. You need 2 out of the 3 private keys in order to spend your bitcoins. You only have one.

I have some problems with moving my coins from Multibit HD to Electrum..
I have only 1 more transaction left that is unconfirmed in Multibit HD but i wanted to use Electrum. I try to import it with my private keys ( 12 words ) of Multibit HD but nothing happens ? I opened Electrum, go to File, New/Restore, Standard Wallet, I already have a seed. Options: Select BIP39 seed. Paste my Multibit HD seed. Select account 0 and finish. It just shows me i have 0 balance and if i open Multibit HD i can still see my balance. Huh

As far as I know, you cannot import a Multibit HD seed as they are not compatible with Electrum's seed format. You would need to send the funds from Multibit HD to your Electrum wallet and then you could begin using Electrum.

You can import it if you specify bip39 like the OP has.

Do you see familiar addresses in the electrum version of your wallet? Bring the addresses tab into view with ctrl+a and tell us if you see familiar addresses that were present in your multibit wallet.

Note that when you restore a bip39 wallet in electrum it does no tests whatsoever to ensure that the seed (12 words) you've entered is an actual valid bip39 seed. So make sure you entered the words correctly. Perhaps do another restore.

Hello, yesterday i have crashed Multibit HD.
Guys from another thread helps me with recovery and saving my money.

I download Electrum for Mac OS. Electrum found wallet (i think from Multibit) and with NO recovery words opened wallet interface (and it opend wallet with 2FA). But i did not pay attention to it(

What do you mean wallet from multibit? Electrum won't open multibit wallets. If you restored your multibit HD wallet using its seed mnemonic in electrum then it would create a new standard wallet not a 2fa wallet. How did you end up with a 2fa wallet?
1609  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Bitcoin Transfers always Unconfirmed on: May 27, 2017, 11:55:08 AM
I am having the same problem in Electrum, it's extremely frustrating.  Huh Huh I have a "Low Fee" error message as I was not aware that I should have enabled PRBF, and now have no option to increase the fee.

I went to the Transaction accelerator thingy at https://www.viabtc.com/ but I can never get through, even when I time myself perfectly at the start of the hour.

I tried sending more BTC to myself with high fees hoping to make my first transaction become unstuck, but all I am getting in my later transactions are "Unconfirmed Parent".

I am trying to actually trying to purchase something via Bitcoin in Selly, and I fear that the product will no longer be available if/when the transaction becomes confirmed.

you can still do a cpfp transaction. and please enable rbf now at least so that future transactions can be dealt with better.

1610  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Bitcoin Transfers always Unconfirmed on: May 27, 2017, 05:37:34 AM

I'm using Ledger Hardware Wallet and have no problems sending them within 15mins. - 1hrs.

You need to raise it too 400sat/byte for the transaction. To add few dollars to the mining fee cost.

Theirs a lot of people who don't know about hot to increase it, or don't want to pay the fee to confirm it any faster.

Anyone else using Hardware wallet?

setting fees manually is the wrong approach. dynamic fees are the correct way to do it.
1611  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to use Replaceable Fee? on: May 27, 2017, 05:06:05 AM
Hello guys, i transffered all my coins into electrum from multibit Hd after i got many errors with multibit that didn't recognise the password and i could recover the wallet only with secret words. The problem is now Electrum tells me the fee is low and i tried the child pay for parent option trying few servers already and after i sign confirming the password and 2FA auth, it gets me all the time error: 402. Tell me what can i do? I picked 10 blocks confirmation but i get error:402 HTTP required payment all the time, need help.

This is a problem with the trustedcoin 2fa service. Another thread about it here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1931150.0

Their webserver is generating this error. It means the server is overloaded or down for maintenance. You should wait a while and try again. If it doesn't fix itself then raise an issue on github:

1612  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Bitcoin Transfers always Unconfirmed on: May 27, 2017, 04:58:58 AM
Hi, this is exactly what I have been doing for the 4th time. Every time I pute the highest or the 2nd highest fee. And it decreases ...
I absolutely don't know what to do ....

Electrum gets fee estimates from electrum servers so the problem may be with the server you are using. Click on the orb icon in the bottom right and choose a different server. Perhaps that will fix your problem.

As for your stuck transactions you can right click on them and choose 'increase' fee if that option is available. If it isn't available then right click and choose 'child pays for parent'. Then choose an appopriate fee and click ok in the window that appears. Then click on  'sign' and 'broadcast' in the window after that.

Please set 'propose replace-by-fee" to always under tools menu > preferences> fees tab so that you can use the 'increase fee' option for all future transactions.
1613  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: ELECTRUM, WALLET BITCOIN VERY SLOW CONFIRM... COMPLICATED SETTING FEE. on: May 27, 2017, 04:51:08 AM
You are not supposed to set fees manually. Market conditions change very quickly these days so it is not practical to set fees manually anymore so please don't do it.

Upgrade to the latest version of electrum. Then go to tools menu > preferences > fees tab and check "use dynamic fees" and set "propose replace-by-fee" to "always". After you do this electrum will automatically set fees based on market conditions. Now when spending bitcoin all you will have to do is move a slider on the send tab to fine tune the fees based on how fast you want the transaction to confirm.

To answer your questions the fees are expressed as satoshis per byte(sat/B) or btc per kilobyte (btc/kb). Byte and kilobyte are units of data storage space. A kilobyte having 1024 bytes in it. Most bitcoin transactions take up 226 bytes of blockchain space. You pay fees based on the size of your transaction not the amount transacted.
1614  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: unconfirmed transaction -> low fee on: May 26, 2017, 08:23:41 AM
Yeah go for child pays for parent (CPFP). Set the fee slider in the cpfp window to as far to the right as you can afford. Then in the next window click "sign" and then "broadcast"

RBF is sort of similar in the interface in that you have to right click on the transaction and select a higher fee. It will then make a replacement transaction that will bump the fee of the original one.

You don't have to do both rbf and cpfp. only one will suffice.

Also don't use old versions of electrum because they have bugs related to transaction fees that have since been fixed in the latest version so use the latest. Be sure to enable dynamic fees in preferences and set "Propose replace-by-fee" to "always".

hi, how to use " child pays for parent (CPFP) ", i dont see it in my electrum 2.8.1

Go to the history tab, find the unconfirmed transaction (tx), right click on it and choose "child pays for parent". Then in the window that appears move the slider to select a suitable fee and click on OK. Then in the next window click 'sign' and then 'broadcast'.

Alternatively you may have the option to do an RBF transaction. Right click on teh transaction in the history tab and click on "increase fee". Choose a suitable fee and click ok.

Make sure you select dynamic fees in preferences (tools menu > preferences) and set "Propose replace by fee" to "Always".
1615  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: need some tips with electrm transaction delay on: May 26, 2017, 08:21:09 AM
I used dynamic fee, i`m not dump really ),  i thing its some sort of damage with exact transaction

all other transactions was replaced perfectly

i tried reinstall Electrum but same error when i try CPFP

sigh

If you don't have a max static fee configured in preferences then you have found a bug and should report it by making an  issue on github:

1616  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to encrypt electrum seed? on: May 25, 2017, 06:16:39 AM
There is no need to use external programs. Setting a password on the wallet file using wallet menu > password encrypts the seed. You can then backup the wallet file using file menu > save copy.

in case you wanted to write down the seed, then this method won't work. for that you need a third party tool to encrypt the "string" with a password and then be able to decrypt it with that tool when you want to restore the wallet with seed.

electrum doesn't accept encrypted seed phase in its restore window, maybe a good feature to add(?)

Encrypted data tends to be pretty random so writing it down is going to be a challenge no matter how you do it.

If you want a backup of your wallet that can a) be written down and b) require a second factor i.e. a password then I suggest creating a new wallet and when the seed display window comes up you click on the options button and choose to extend the seed with your own words i.e. a password/passphrase. The passphrase you commit to memory and the seed to paper.

To create a new wallet the OP can go to file menu > new /restore. To open it file > open.

the forum is chock full of threads about unconfirmed transactions. Can you people at least try to search for a solution first? it's very simple. Just use cpfp:

1619  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to install Electrum and its dependencies on an offline Linux computer? on: May 25, 2017, 01:44:14 AM
My suggestion is to go online, install the deps and electrum and then never go online again. It's much easier and there is very little risk because you won't be going online once the wallet has been created.
1620  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How can electrum seed be secure on: May 24, 2017, 10:50:09 PM
ulhaq you should create a multisig wallet if you want to create split backups.
