Just did. 1100 BTC is crazy high for Poloniex. Even for Mintpal it would be respectable.

gmaxwell is one of Bitcoin's most important core devs, so this is not FUD or ignorance. He is a genuine expert. In the altcoin space, a pre-announced launch on this forum is considered 'fair', but it's likely you'd miss it if you only follow Bitcoin communication channels.
Some context is needed. gmaxwell is among those who believes altcoins have little reason to exist (there are many fair reasons to think that, and it's flat-out true for most altcoins). So he likely sees Bytecoin as a testbed for innovation from which Bitcoin can learn, but doesn't care for the ultimate fate of it as a separate currency.
From this perspective, Monero is ruining the party by doing a fair launch and overtaking Bytecoin is usage because Bytecoin devs might now lose interest because their coin isn't getting used. From our community's perspective, it's worth trying to make CryptoNote succeed on its own and only a publicly launched one has the legitimacy required to succeed.
The point about the emission curve is a fair one. Several of us including me wanted to change but the community as a whole didn't like it. It's not a huge deal -- after all Bitcoin has implanted an idea in our heads for how a coin "should" distribute over time, but there's no fundamental theoretical backing. Thanks for this quality post.

Hence: Tor. Isn't TOR cracked? I think I heard something about it (maybe Dawden, maybe not)?

I'm a Darkcoin fanatic. I saw Monero as a threat to my investment. So I bought some. Now I'm a Monero fanatic as well So you are not a Darkcoin fanatic. You are a Darkcoin pragmatic But you might very well be an anonymity fanatic.

I feel like 300% is a lot for one day. Might have to sell a few... 10/200 strategy. Sell 10% of you remaining stash every time the price doubles. After three doubling, you reach ROI. Plus you ensure liquidity of the market ( source)

Blackcoin is dead. I tried saying this in the main thread and my comments keep getting deleted. I was trying to answer genuine questions posed in the thread.
This coin reeks of "Enron". Blackcoin shills will tell you everything is ok and to keep buying, meanwhile they are dumping Blackcoin and running off with the profits.
Same thing with CINNI. Just wanted to throw that out there.
I hope you guys enjoy "earning" 1% annually while losing 90% of your coins wealth. Its quite amusing watching the train-wreck that is Blackcoin, Whitecoin and CINNI. You guys are all getting fooled.
Someone tell me how much these coins are down from their all-time highs? Yup, plenty of people got burnt big time. If people enjoying losing BTC in these scam coins then please by all means keep "investing" in them. You said it all. But remember; for one month, it was below 10000 satoshi. Most of the great, intense moments in Blackcoin were below 10k sat. An experience I will remember for long, unforgettable.

hey guys
I finally manned up and decided to try the command line style wallet instead of waiting for the gui
i am having trouble syncing though. The blockchain i downloaded was from today, posted by a gentlemen a few posts back, it was like 143 mb. My machine is telling me it is a VLC media file? I tried renaming it blockchain.bin but the machine still is saying it is a vlc media file.
I tried putting it in the roaming folder and the folder where the simplewallet is at but neither of that seemed to work.
Also, would someone mind explaining to me what a "daemon" is or what it does? How is that different from the wallet? Do you have to have the daemon and the wallet both open in separate command line boxes in order to send coins?
Thanks for the help, can't wait till the gui wallet is avaliable...toring coins on the exchange for now because I am afraid of messing up and losing my coins First, congratulations for deciding to go beyond your comfort zone and use the command line. Second, your machine (Windows?) tells you this is a VLC file because it only looks at the file extension (.bin) in that case. But .bin is a common file extension with a lof of different use (it means binary). If you are on Windows, you must put it on %APPDATA%bitmonero. To access APPDATA%, just open up Explorer and type %APPDATA% where you usually have C:\ Do this whilst everything monero is shut down.

If your already at 99% then no, you wont get more. 99% is for one thread! With bitmonerod or simpleminer, my computer is at 798% (because I have 8 threads). CPUminer is much better, I have "only" 323%. In both case 100% is not the max.

1% every 10 days (close to HoboNickels) that Very interesting then. With 10 days, it means people can just wait for stake then go playing just with their stake I would have gone for 7 days. Why? Because that way people can play every week-end, for instance. Is it too late to change this? You could lower the interest rate accordingly, around 0.8% every 7 days.

|
1% Stake, 10 days required, 20 days to full age[/center] Is it 1% annual, payment every ten days (close to BlackCoin) or 1% every 10 days (close to HoboNickels)?

I edited and asked you in the other thread but you may not saw that. Did you recompiled cpuminer today? Cause it has many changes from yesterday. Quick recompiling: sudo apt-get install -y build-essential automake libcurl4-openssl-dev pkg-config && cd ~/monero && rm -rf cpuminer && mkdir cpuminer && cd cpuminer && git clone http://github.com/Lucasjones/cpuminer-multi.git && pushd cpuminer-multi && ./autogen.sh && export CFLAGS="-O3 -march=native" && ./configure && make && unset CFLAGS && popd I know there is a faster way to recompile from github, but I don't know it

Could you add each logo as an independant picture? Easier for referencing. Also, please change "cryptonote" to "monero" on the first logo. Thank you

Yes for Windows and Mac For Mac and Linux, not yet. Then why does monero.cc tell everyone to go download from them? Fixed. Can't believe this coin isn't on bigger, more visible exchanges. So buy them whilst they are still cheap https://cryptonote.exchange.to/market/mro/btchttps://www.swaphole.com/#!market/MRO/BTC This coin seems to be doing something new, but I'm not really sure what to make of the price. Too high or too low? Too low if you ask me, but I am biased
