You know why, because it is obvious to me that he really wanted it pretty badly.

You know why? Because it is...

Didn't get past the first line.

If anyone feels like giving me merit as well

I don't.

Can you do mine? I want to know how it looks on the image (it obviously won't be an infinite loop - it'll just be interesting to find it out).

With the following numbers:

Your grid is:

Which gives 5 infinite oscillators:

Everyone assuming this is all a big joke. Check back at the end of May when I've ranked up above theymos to Global-Ultimate-Moderator/Owner/Administrator/Satoshi, and we will see who's laughing then.
16324  Other / Meta / Re: theymos once again shows his corruption on: April 01, 2018, 06:51:46 PM
How does it even work? I am lost here
Someone needs to make an infographic so that it's easier to understand.

It really is quite simple.

As per by theymos' instructions:

Just put the highest-order 10 bits of each number into a grid in this configuration:

Then run Conway's Game of Life on the cells. If the cells never stop moving even after infinite steps, then you advance to the next rank.

Given that your numbers are currently:

That gives you the following grid:

Which stabilises to the following pattern with two infinite oscillators on the right:

Therefore, you will rank up on Tuesday provided none of your numbers change.

Simple.

Anybody can you tell me where I should buy the coins?

I'll trade you for your virtue.

thank you!

I would be careful before farming politeness like that - the extra dots on your grid for the Game of Life might make it harder to create an infinite loop.

No worries, I asked professor Mathoshi to fix it:

You forgot to carry the 2.

If I have misunderstood your plan, then perhaps you could provide the essence of your idea in a couple of lines.

Allow me:

Reality, all of us here are in this forum not because we want to learn about cryptocurrency but we want all to earn tokens.

Translation to plain English:

Please abolish the merit system because it is hampering my shitpost bounty farming.
16330  Other / Meta / Re: How To Use The Conway's Game Of Life ( For The New Ranking System ) Tutorial on: April 01, 2018, 01:40:08 PM
Your grid needs to be right-aligned with leading zeros, like theymos' example:

For example, consider someone with these stats:
Quote
Merit: 40
Activity: 56
Politeness: 36
fMerit: 56
Imagination: 36
Virtue: 40
Coins: 56
Karma: 40
This gives you a grid like:

Trying to mislead fellow forum members like that is very rude, unvirtuous and unimaginative. I'm sure a moderator will adjust your stats accordingly.
16331  Other / Meta / Re: New new ultimate guide to ranking up as fast as possible (MODERATOR IN 7 WEEKS) on: April 01, 2018, 12:34:10 PM
Why the fuck do you have so much karma, you don't even believe in that shit. Flawed system.

That's a 50 DKP MINUS 1 politeness minus.
16332  Other / Meta / Re: New new rank requirements on: April 01, 2018, 12:27:08 PM
But theymos how come you didn't give us Intelligence and Charisma stat categories? ;P

No thanks, intelligence is my dump stat.
16333  Other / Meta / Re: FMERIT ON BITCOINTALK? on: April 01, 2018, 12:24:36 PM
Will high fMerit and low virtue help me to get a date?

Only if you also have plenty of coins.
16334  Other / Meta / Re: Ultimate guide to ranking up as fast as possible (ABOVE LEGENDARY IN 7 WEEKS) on: April 01, 2018, 09:25:56 AM
Coming from a person with 1 Karma point, I wouldn't believe this shit.
If a person with 0 karma, 100 pts of politeness can confirm this, it would be great.

I'm sure you would agree that 10 fMerits from theymos is all the confirmation that is required.

Just have a look at my Ultimate guide to ranking up as fast as possible.

We have all by now seen the theymos’ New new rank requirements.

Previously a lot of people were posting questions about the ranking system, so I decided to simplify it. Just put the highest-order 10 bits of each number into a grid in this configuration:

Then run Conway's Game of Life on the cells. If the cells never stop moving even after infinite steps, then you advance to the next rank.

And so I present:

o_e_l_e_o’s Ultimate guide to ranking up as fast as possible with minimum effort.

The stats we will be using to rank up are activity (same as before), imagination (number of images posted), virtue (see quote from theymos below), and coins (how many different coins you have invested in). This guide does not require any merit, smerit, fmerit, politeness OR karma, so you can continue to shitpost, spam and scam and still rank up!

The seven virtues are chastity, temperence, charity, diligence, patience, kindness, and humility. Any true Bitcoiner will fully exemplify all seven virtues, of course.

Week 1 (Newbie to Junior):

Make a single post with a single picture and being kind to one person to earn exactly one activity, one imagination and one virtue. Invest in one coin only. Your grid will look like this:

Week 2 (Junior to Member):

Repeat the above post. Buy another coin. Your grid will look like this:

Week 3 (Member to Full):

Little more complex now. Make one more post, again displying one virtue, but this time with three pictures.

Week 4 (Full to Senior):

One more post this week. This one needs five pictures and four virtue (I suggest being diligently and humbly patient and kind to a fellow user).

Week 5 (Senior to Hero):

Make three posts with a combined total of one picture.

Week 6 (Hero to Legendary):

One more post with one picture.

Week 7 (Legendary to a new rank theymos will have to create just for you):

One post with nothing.

By this point you will be less than 2 months on Bitcointalk, have made 9 posts in total, and be a global moderator or better. You are welcome!

Virtue
This is an upright, God-fearing community which will suffer no witchcraft or other heresy. This stat measures your moral virtue. Warning: those with low virtue may be visited by the holy inquisition.

I am a known and proven campaigner against witchcraft, and curer of curses and other spells. How can it be that my virtue is only 9? By my quick calculations, it should be at least over 9000. Please remedy with much haste.

The reversal will come when all the kids are bored of fortnite.

Quick, someone DDOS the fortnite servers.
16339  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BlockChain Technology for advertising industry on: March 30, 2018, 06:59:19 PM
Given the number of shitcoins and trash ICOs that keep popping up, I would suggest you ask yourself one question first:

Considering my concept/idea/project, why do I need blockchain technology? What will blockchain technology allow me to achieve, that I would not be able to achieve without it?

If your answer to that question is simply to sell a coin, run an ICO, and raise funds, then, like so many others, you fall in to the category of "shitcoin".

More specifically, there are already a number of coins and projects applying blockchain technology to advertising. BitClave, as an example, aims to pay its users for allowing companies to access their data and advertise to them.* There are many more examples you can find with a simple internet search.

*This is not an endorsement of BitClave.

How will they know who has rotten, smelly sMerits, and who has fresh and vibrant sMerits?

All the smart people freeze their sMerits on day of receipt to keep them fresher for longer.
