No bad news? I think that bitinstant being down for two days and MT. Gox having issues with deposits and  WD's with all of Europe (Bank of France).. Then it tanks? I expected it to tank after noticing those two events...

AR

If your dumping your coins because of events like the ones listed above.... your doing it wrong!  Cheesy

bitinstant being down for two days  ( when did this happen Huh ), is not a big deal
MT. Gox having issues with deposits, is nothing new & not hard to get around...

The only time I sell coins is when I have to.  But, When I read that Mt. gox was having major issues with their European system, I had a really weird feeling that it would affect the bitcoin, I know of many newb Bitcoiners in Europe that don't know what to do. Sure enough, the bitcoin started to tank not too long after their announcement.  Then I  heard that bitinstant was down for 2 days. Those two events were the only events that I heard that i felt could effect the bitcoin..It dropped from high 11's to  9.60 or something. Then after bitinsant came back, the coin shot up to the mid 10's and thats were we are at.. Maybe it's a coincidence, but If it is, It sure is a ironic one.

I'm on the bullish side of bitcoin. I still don't think that the reward halving has made its full impact yet. Maybe a little, but I think that it will rise soon after the halving, once the reality sinks in and the bitcoin economy sees less coins sold. I know that I will be keeping the grand majority of my bitcoins once the asics arrive. Ill only sell enough to pay expenses. I have a feeling that a lot of bigger miners feel the same way. Will that effect the price? I guess we will find out...

AR

A lot of people think the next couple of months are going to be very interesting.

but i think the last couple months of trading has been mostly trying to factor in the reward drop & effect of ASCI, everyone knows these events are coming so the market tries to price it in b4 it happens.

I think its more or less priced in by now. the wild price swings are over, and now the never ending bull run can continue  Wink

I switched to short/mid term bear recently but that has now changed. I feel very bullish mainly thanks to the recent European Central Bank report and also some other smaller stuff such as the MMOExchange/Ogrr merger that finally happened and Bitcoin Friday which I think will be a fairly big event also.

I wish some news came regarding the BitInstant Debit card but other than that I'm feeling bullish.

Technomage  turned bear for half a second.... O    M    G Shocked
lol Cheesy

the resent dips had to happen despite of all the good things happening, simply because we went to high to fast. But with no bad news fueling "the plunge" i except the price to first stabilize and then slowly recover.... I'd say another 30% plunge is unlikely, and in any case it would be quickly bought back up and over 11$.
16326  Economy / Speculation / Re: Major support/resistance which will hit first ? on: October 29, 2012, 06:14:55 PM
its time to start buying  Wink
I'd buy now and HOPE to buy more lower

But each spike is a either new miner or an old miner Up-ing their rig
Huh  Huh Joking, or what? It's variance in luck, not in hashpower.

It's not variance in luck.. its difficulty rising due to increased total hashing power of the network

so ya, when this goes up it because of new miners and old miner Up-ing their rig
16328  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi, I've installed bitcoin client on Ubuntu! What now?? on: October 29, 2012, 12:42:57 AM
why do you need to run bitcoind?

run the GUI bitcoin-qt or better yet use http://blockchain.info/'s wallet service

of course you will need to print out paper wallets for your bitcoin savings account

That spike either is a whole new mining operation coming online or a couple ASICs being used, either way someones going to have a bunch of btc to dump or hopefully horde.

That spike is just normal variance...
lol, ya

its like people just don't understand that; fundamentally the value of bitcoin itself is going up everyday, and now the price is going down....

what does that tell you?

BUY BUY BUY! Grin

i'm so high right now

Heh.

I still have not found a real use for bitcoin besides gambling which is the lamest use i can think of and promptly stopped gambling once the novelty wore off and i lost several btc.

Tipping someone online is about the second best idea i have used it for since i do not have to worry about actually getting something in return.

Sending btc to some person online for goods is prob third but i sure never feel good about it and the sending party always thinks there might be a scam in every deal i have done which are few. That is a major problem unless dealing with established business who would lose more from ripping ppl off instead of just being honest and making dough. Please do not mention escrow as that will be the next bitcoin scam website fiasco. Mark my words. That or bitcoin gambling escrow site for bets.

So why does it matter if btc is 4 bucks or 20? Until bitcoin gets 10 times as many users as there is today the price is irrelevant...
Plenty of btc to go around right now even with massive massive hording and btc that never moves.

Thus right now price is just as likely to go down then up. And down seems more likely right now.

+1118 post and you "still have not found a real use for bitcoin"

miners.... their clueless, and they sold!

BUY BUY BUY  Grin

Feel free to explain how you use them. Except of course for rampant speculation. :-)
So far this forum feels like half the users have been scammed. Not exactly a glowing report on usage.

I selling every day has been a great move in my opinion. It is the one sure thing in bitcoin land. Always a winner!
i pay for goods and services with it

I dont get it, are they a couple of 12 year old boys? I think I am getting old, I cant understand the skinny pants/hair in face and whining.

Anyway! Sold my btc, that little dip gave me enough to cash out and buy some stuff that was going to have to wait for another week or so of mining Smiley

Lol i'm 25... and they are 2 21 year old girls "Tegan And Sara"
