Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

That spike either is a whole new mining operation coming online or a couple ASICs being used, either way someones going to have a bunch of btc to dump or hopefully horde.

That spike is just normal variance...

Given recent history I think it's more likely we're going to see some big selloffs in the near future. It's like deja-vu

Edit: this chart is what I'm seeing...

honestly i wouldn't be surprised to see 7-8$ but I must start buying back now ( already did actually Wink )... because i know, once we find "the stable point" the never ending bull run is just going to continue, maybe with more force then ever;  bitcoin is spreading!

lol, ya

But each spike is a either new miner or an old miner Up-ing their rig

Fake wall. Notice how its placed exactly right under the current ask. AKA he really doesn't want to buy any bitcoins.

That could easily have happened by accident. Here is how:
* One person puts ask at 10.65999;
* Another person tries to outask the first one and puts another ask at 10.65998;
* "Mr. M" comes and creates a buy order without specifying the price manually. Mt. Gox defaults to the best ask price, which is 10.65998. The order is partially filled, the rest you can see on the screenshot.

But each spike is a either new miner or an old miner Up-ing their rig
Huh  Huh Joking, or what? It's variance in luck, not in hashpower.

It's not variance in luck.. its difficulty rising due to increased total hashing power of the network

so ya, when this goes up it because of new miners and old miner Up-ing their rig

The fluctuation that was pointed out was small enough to be attributable to luck.
