Sync is a unique crypto-currency created for premium users and miners that valued Proof-of-Stake and rare coin as a pathway to long-term investment.

Proof of Stake Reward:  1% per year.

1% Proof-of-Stake is a bad joke. Any stake below 50% per month should be avoided, plain and simple. It doesn't mean a below-50 PoS stake has no (potential) value, but the stake is not one. So please stop 1% stakes.

the cpu only?I am interested

Yes, there is few coins that are CPU driven
BCN, MRO, FMC and QuazarCoin I think
These are CryptoNote coins. Other are available on http://cpucoinlist.com/
1663  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 15, 2014, 01:16:35 PM
Also the original command can be simplified to:
Code:
cd ~ && wget https://www.dropbox.com/s/3pclp7sm94edmxl/install_monero.sh && bash install_monero.sh
Done. I just notified Quanttek for the rest.

I can't find a download button and when I use wget https://github.com/zone117x/cryptonote-easy-miner/blob/master/CryptoNoteMiner/bin/Release/cryptnote-easy-miner-latest.zip, I get a 26kb archive that I cannot unzip. Thoughts?
(plus, is it 32, 64 or both?)
1664  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 15, 2014, 01:05:10 PM
It wouldn't build for me on Arch x64, either. Ask David Latapie for binaries, I think that's about the only way you'll get this running.
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B7RQILpPGrQbaEFiQm5KVTFOZm8&tid=0B7RQILpPGrQbYnF2OTA4NklrWmc It is called test-arch because I do not know if it works on Ubuntu (I'd prefer to have only one set of binaries for all linuxes if it doesn't impact the performance).
These binaries have been compiled by Wolf0, our resident Arch expert Smiley

That might work but its only for 13.10 ubuntu.... and they should state that, does not work on 12.04
That's why I asked Quanttek to consider modifying the script for adding commands for upgrading gcc (provided gcc is the limiting factor).

anyone willing to help me figure out if i should put the time into mining this coin or not? est blocks per week with all these machines?
1. Install monero, start hashing, get the hashrate (show_hr on bitmonerod, it doesn't seem to work on simpleminer)
2. Go to #monero and type !bmrcalc X, where X is your hashrate. You will get an estimate of your gains
1665  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 15, 2014, 12:25:48 PM
Why is this written on http://monero.cc/getting-started/#installing-monero:
"./bitmonerod --start-mining MRO_address --mining-threads number_of_threads
This line above is the only one you have to know for mining. Be it on your computer on another computer. You don’t even need your wallet open to mine".

This is daemon, not wallet.
1. You can mine either from the daemon or from the wallet
2 mining from the daemon seem to reduce the amount of "daemon is busy" message on the wallet, making it usable again
3. having one recipe for both local machine and remote machine means simpler starting

1. the current devs are not the devs of the technology. it is adopted from Bytecoin. Bytecoin (go to bytecoin.org) is the first implementation of cryptonight developed by a seperate organization that is called cryptonote.
We've grown beyond that Smiley We are actively fixing things from the Bytecoin code.

I'm getting 10% increased mining hash rate on my windows machine by running it in a linux virtual machine.
Those are the basic steps:
1) Install Oracle VM VirtualBox (https://www.virtualbox.org/)
2) Create a virtual machine for Ubunto (set the processors to maximum available. Give it at least 12 GB HDD)
3) Download Ubuntu (http://www.ubuntu.com/download) and install it in the VirtualBox
4) In the VM Ubunto window menu -> Devices -> Insert Guest Additions CD Image... Install and restart (needed to adjust the screen resolution or otherwise you won't see most of the screen)
5) In a terminal run the following script:
Code:
cd ~ && wget https://www.dropbox.com/s/3pclp7sm94edmxl/install_monero.sh && chmod +x ./install_monero.sh && ./install_monero.sh
This will install and compile everything needed for monero to run and will compile monero too.
6) Download a recent blockchain from the OP for fast synchronization and copy it to the .bitmonero folder (Crtl + H to show hidden files and folders)
7) Start mining with 10% additional hash rate on your Widows based PC

Tip me some MRO: 4AyRmUcxzefB5quumzK3HNE4zmCiGc8vhG6fE1oJpGVyVZF7fvDgSpt3MzgLfQ6Q1719xQhmfkM9Z2u NXgDMqYhjJVmc6KX

I would suggest Mac OS X users try the same thing. I've been running Ubuntu on VirtualBox for the last couple weeks on three of my Macs with a 20% increase in hash rate. Oddly enough the fourth machine runs faster with a native mac build, so try it both ways...
Thanks for these valuable information!

thank you so much i appreciate it alot, but for some reason the link for the blockchain is broken is there another link?
mega oftentimes does not download. Check this up-to-date mirror: bit.ly/monero-starter-pack
1667  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 14, 2014, 07:53:39 AM
You incorrectly credited me on the website (it was smooth). Also, it should be ./simplewallet not ./simpleminer.
I should not post at 3AM Sad Sorry all, this is fixed now, thank eizh for corrections.

Outdated compiler (it doesn't seem to support -std=c++11). Update to a newer g++.
Would it be a good idea to update the install script so that it install the latest gcc version? If this is the only requirement, it would help older version to have monero.
No, it's anonymous (which is the point Tongue). A separate public key is generated for each input and they're difficult to link by blockchain analysis.
So we will never have richlist for monero, right?
1668  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 14, 2014, 01:23:05 AM
Okay, one feature we REALLY need in simplewallet is a command history buffer. It doesn't have to be persistent; it can start with an empty buffer every time. Having to retype things kinda sucks. And I automatically press the up arrow and get garbage that I have to erase.
Duly noted, you are not the only one to wish for it!
Use rlwrap

$ rlwrap ./simpleminer --wallet mywallet
Thanks!

Give me just a minute. I'll attempt to compile it yet again and then post the results.
Could you give me the list of command you used, so that I can try to replicate on my machine?

Ideally a long oneliner (with && to separate commands).

Thanks.

Both. And still working on the Mintcoin Fund, check my latest posts on the Mintcoin thread.

I mean: equity equality is more representative than income equality, no?

Considering the information we can get from the blockchain, yes. I have no idea, whether such an index exists or not.
Thanks. So let's stick with the Gini index idea, by lack of better tool.

And now that deep web services are under attack...
Tell me more, please.

If I have $1 million in the bank, but my income this year is $0, the $0 is what is used in the gini-calculations, effectively pooling me with the "poor" people.
Crystal-clear, thanks.

I guess the gini-coefficient could be applied to POS coins, by looking purely at addresses that has staked over a given time frame, and use those numbers for calculations.
Maybe this is not the Gini index we would need, but another one (like those you - I believe - mentionned and I never heard of before).

I mean: equity equality is more representative than income equality, no?
1674  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 14, 2014, 12:26:13 AM
Yah i tried that exact line they had, but it seems like it not working with 12.04 im very confused. driving me crazy!
Use do-upgrade-release thrice to upgrade.
From 12.04 to 12.10
From 12.10 to 13.04
From 13.04 to 13.10
Then try again
1675  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 14, 2014, 12:21:41 AM
there is only Windows 64-bit blockchain in the OP
will it work for 32-bit?
No, it won't. Please someone with a fully-sync'd 32-bits blockchain upload it, I will add it to the pack.
1676  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 14, 2014, 12:19:48 AM
It doesn't even COMPILE on Arch.
I am on Arch (well, Manjaro). Use http://bit.ly/monerostarterpack and get the Linux binaries - they are compiled on Ubuntu but work on Arch. I am the maintainer, by the way.
1677  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TEKcoin PoS/PoW on Cryptsy! 30 days 40% interest! on: May 14, 2014, 12:13:12 AM
Without having done any calculations I will offer a guess at the gini-index for every single crypto: 0.9-1.0 (1.0 is perfect inequality, as in one person owns all the coins).
Noted sci-fi author Charles Stross pointed out BTC scores a bit better than that. I think other altcoin score even better (although not by a long shot)
http://www.antipope.org/charlie/blog-static/2013/12/why-i-want-bitcoin-to-die-in-a.html

As you mention yourself, it does not account for multiple wallets, but just as important, the numbers we can get from the blockchain is not wallets, but addresses.
Many addresses will be empty (coins go in, and leave again, meaning it will be empty when looked at in the block chain), leading us to see 50% (guestimate) of addresses empty, thus lop-siding the gini-calculations.

Further, exchanges are accounted for in the calculations as there is no way to leave them out, which will muddy the results even more. I.e. my TEK holdings on Cryptsy should count towards my holdings, not towards Cryptsy's address.
If we assume that the "noise" of empty wallets and exchange is similar (a wild assumption, I grant you that), we can still compare them. Plus, there is no other way to compare them (except marketcap), so it is not like if we were trading something from something else.

Also, the gini-index is meant to measure income equality, not equity equality.
Please extrapolate.

I agree completely and withdraw my previous attitude. I thought transparency of the issue would be smart, especially considering interested parties have already been accused of "conspiring" behind the community's back. I also wanted knowledgable followers of the thread to be aware of the issue, especially if they have interest in MRO. I don't mind where the discussion takes place, as long as the people in this thread to know it's taking place.
I suggest regularly pasting a text like "Reminder, for those interested in the deep economics issues that monero is trying to solve, please read  Monero economy". Or something like that, you get the idea (The OP has so much info I am not sure people would get it - or maybe people interested in it are the same people that use the whole OP, then issue solved).

Font test :
Please add the name of the font. You can change the fond later, it is just to make it easier to say which one we prefer.

Excellent idea to simulate what it would be on coinmarketcap.

I like the ones at the bottom (the ones above look like someone angrily staring at you). Maybe the right one more than the left one. Could you give a 50x50 px icon and also a simulation of what it would be on coinmarketcap?

About the small icons: usually, smaller icons require redrawing. Syris, could give the link of the "simple reduction" and the "adapted reduction" for your logo proposal? It would help people better understand what I mean. Thank you.
